    Yeah! I'm glad you reviewed this for me. I knew you would love this golf ball. Everyone overlooks Wilson Golf, especially the lower end stuff, but this is a fantastic ball. Your results were exactly the same as mine when I started playing it. I gained 5-7 yards on my irons. I didn't see really any gain on the driver but It is a very forgiving ball and if you like a soft feel on the putter, this is the best feeling ball, bar none. The only knock is the roll out on the green. I've played them for a while and that, is true. I tend to play bump and run so not a big issue for me. Cost to quality, this and the Cut Red are at the top.

    Thank you for this review. I've been playing the Zip for years and it's my favorite ball. Obviously being a 2-piece surlyn ball, you wont get great spin on short chips, but full swing spin is VERY good. I measured a Zip on a SkyTrak and here are my best #s with Driver and PW:
    Driver: 96 mph swing, 141 ball speed, 12 degree launch, 253 carry, 2917 spin.
    PW: 86 mph swing, 98 mph ball, 25 degree launch, 130 yard carry, 9509 spin
    So it performs as good as any ball with a full swing. Also, I play forged irons, and the feel is on another level.

      @GolfBallAddict  Год назад +2

      I think that's awesome that you're getting such an amazing performance with a faster swing speed and forged irons. I love the Wilson zip to death, but I had fears that maybe my 92 mile an hour swing speed was maxing it out. Hearing this makes me believe it really is a golf ball for everyone. Thank you so much for sharing!

    Hey Nick, I finally got some of these "ZIP" balls. Took them out to the golf course today and was thoroughly impressed! Right off the bat my first drive was straight and actually surpassed 200 yards! I had 5 drives today that went 200+ yards! I had only gotten a few to date since spring here. Most go about 180 yards. I gained 20-40 yards for sure with this ball. One drive went 237yds. Love the feel of contact too. I'm so glad I came across this review of yours because this is now my ball to play. Love it! Thanks. :) P.S. I hit one drive way out on the toe and thought oh boy that's not gonna be good. It went straight and far, couldn't believe it!

    Thits has been my go to ball for years. I will try other balls from time to time but always come back to the zip. I did the Maxfil Straightfl for about six mnths until I realized a putting issue with the dimple pattern. The Zip launches a mile high for me. No player in my golf league gets tha ball higher than mine. Great value for around a buck a ball.

    I use this ball a lot. For the majority of my golf season here in Upstate NY I play persimmon woods and old blades. The high launch is perfect for those old clubs because they so much like the old balata's minus the greenside bite but they also don't "smile" at you when you thin one. Here at my local Walmart last year though I bought two (four dozen) at $19.96 each. Love this ball.

  • @jporter504

    I picked up 4 dozen. My take so far: Driver - no difference from any other golf ball. Feels a bit hard but distance is fine. Approach shots: No difference in feel compared to most two piece balls. Seems to carry a bit further which would indicate that it spins less but I have had no problem holding greens. Wedges around the green: This is where the ball shines. Can feel the softness and the ball is more workable than most two piece balls. Putting: Not my favorite. Must practice because the ball responds aggressively off the putter. Rolls true but either you are going to leave it long or short (for fear of leaving it long) until you get used to the ball. Durability: Fair. No major issues but a bit of scuffing. Not as durable as I had hoped. I picked them up for under $20 for two dozen so they are keepers. At their regular price of about $29 for two dozen, I am not sure.

    Bought a 24 pack off your recommendation. First game with them and i flushed an 8 iron over the green from 150 out! Think i need to recalibrate my distances! Average carry 8-10 yards longer than my ususal ball. Driver distance about the same so not losing there either. I compress the ball with my irons (using venetos swing) and the feeling off these is unbelievable when you hit the middle. You have to check that you actually hit it as the feel is so soft. Sure enough its rocketing off into the distance!

    Before I watched this video, I watched your Wilson 50 video. I won a dozen Wilson 50s at a tournament about 3 years ago and recently found them in my garage so decided to play them. The 50s I won have the W/s logo and did not match your comments, so I wonder if these may be the predecessor to the current Zip. I found these balls to be very soft off my putter and I did get adequate distance and spin compared to my normal ball which is Oncore Vero 2. I ordered the Zip balls based on this review. If they are actually better than the older 50s that I have, I will be elated. I am a slow swing speed player, age 75 and my current GHIN is 13.8, from the senior tees at most courses I will score in the high 70s to low 80s.

    I think these balls would be great for late Fall or winter golf where you need that extra boost, greens are soft with the low spin and if you lose your ball in slop you won’t be as angry.

    The Wilson Zip ball has replaced every other ball in my bag, and in my practice net in the back yard. Ive had to slow my swing down with all my clubs but hitting better, longer shots with them, I keep 12 doz on hand just in case,,,lol

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  Год назад +4

      That's what makes the Wilson zip such an underrated golf ball. The fact that it's so hot off the club, it forces you to smooth your swing out a little bit, helps tremendously with your accuracy and tempo. It's not always just what the golf ball has on the inside, there are other factors too. And Wilson understands this

  • @sscully67

    Great review, Nic! My only hesitation is with the shots around the green…..if I want something that’s going to “bite” and not roll past the hole every time, this ball can’t be trusted. I love the distance & forgiveness stats, but I believe the key to lower scores is control around the green. Wouldn’t it be something if a ball could deliver these numbers AND check up nicely, have amazing durability, and be $30 for two dozen! 😮

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  2 года назад +2

      I honestly haven't had any trouble around the greens. I played 18 today with it and really only rolled past the hole a couple of times. It's usually a small adjustment. The forgiveness held on the course just like in testing also. Maybe one day we will find the perfect ball. :)

    I've been playing golf for over 45 years, and I was a nine HCP in my younger days. This ball is not necessarily a ball for beginners. For a low compression ball, with a soft feel, it is a fine ball. As for checking up, you do need to play it a bit shorter, and let it roll a bit. My 40 year old Pings do a good job with both the Zip and the Elite 50.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  Год назад +3

      Beginners might be the wrong word there. It's definitely a forgiving golf ball for players who don't strike the irons consistently. I imagine most mid or low handicap would want more spin though. I'm perfectly fine playing the Zip though.

    I have been playing this ball as my "crap ball" for years. My swing speed is around 118-120 and I loose nothing with this golf ball. The reason I call it my "crap ball" is I have a rule, as soon as I loose 2 premium balls during a round, the zip comes out. I tested this ball next to the pro v, tp5, and maxfli tour. My clubs, I play the sim2 with an aldila tour green 65tx, irons are srixon zx7, nippon modus tour 130x. So for slow or fast swingers this ball seems to do what you need it To.

    I'm an older golfer who just starting playing about a year and a half ago. I bought the Zip based on price point as I tend to lose several a round. What surprised me is how well they played. I'm able to compress them and get better distance than more expensive higher compression balls.
    I was able to get several dozen double dozen boxes for $20 a box, so I've stocked up. No regrets in going with the Wilson Zip.

    They must’ve raised the price on these. I went to 2 Walmarts and they were 29.97 for a dozen. Anybody else have the same experience?

      It's not one dozen it's two dozen. You get 24 golf balls for $29.97

      @@GolfBallAddict I just picked up several double dozen packs for $21.54 each. Great ball if you tend to lose them like I do.😂

      Hey rick. Although I appreciate your insight on the golf ball, I have a hard time believing it fell a full 30-yard short. I mean the difference between the worst golf ball I have ever tested versus the best is only about a 15-yard difference.
      If you are really swinging the golf club that fast, then you don't need to be playing any type of soft golf ball at all. A 100 mile an hour swing speed needs to be playing a firmer three-piece golf ball. Remember, the professional LPGA ladies tour only averages a 95 mph swing speed. I also have a pretty stout golfing buddy who works out 3 to 4 times a week, and even only he still swings 100 mile an hour.
      Again I appreciate your insight, every golfer is different. I would suggest going and getting a ball fitting.

      @@GolfBallAddict agreed. 100mph !!!!😅 that’s a tough achievement for any young man. With any amount of control.
