- Apparently, not everyone has seen Alien yet. Some of these people are probably wishing they still hadn't.

I saw this when it came out in ‘79. Imagine sitting in a dark theatre watching this scene. Holy crap there was a lot of screaming going on in there.
wonder how many of those girls were there on a date
@@puffadder92 lol
@@puffadder92 "It's just gonna be a normal space movie about aliens. Nothing too scary"
A little bit later, and this scene comes on:
My dad was... 11 or 12 years old when this came out. His dad, grandfather, took him to the theater to see this. First and only time dad slept in his parents room because he was so scared.
I was 8 and it wasn't that scary then.
It is impossible to put the context of 1979 into the present.
Suffice it to say that NO ONE in the theater had ANY idea this was going to happen.
Truly original, and horrifying, concept.
Non horror fans: horrified (And understandably so)
Horror Fans: Aw yea, there's the moneyshot! :D
Count me in the second group, bay-bay!
Are you there God? It's me Margaret.

Lol ikr, I love rewatching this scene
It's amazing how practical effects from that decade still holds nowadays, even more than some today's blockbusters' CGI.
For real though. There were only a handful of janky "70s" scenes in both first movies, like the shots where the xenomorph is obviously a human in a costume, but it still holds up today surprisingly well, despite that. Especially Ripley's 1v1 with the queen.
@@housel9352When you have a director that knows what they’re doing, a person in a suit can be filmed in a terrifying way. And that beats 99% of the cgi trash today.
In 79, I was 10yo, seeing this with friends, tickets bought by my friend's father. I wasn't right for months afterwards. But, i was first in line for Aliens, 6 years later! 👾
After 45 years, the thing skittering across the table still strikes me as funny.
Some say there's a version of this scene where the chestburster puts on a little hat and dances off the table while singing "Hello! Ma Baby". From what I heard it's from an earlier draft of the script where the scene takes place in a diner. I don't know if it's real or not.
Did you know that none of the actors knew what was going to happen for that chest bursted scene. The producer didn't tell anyone the plan so that they would have better reactions. So the reactions you see are actually real. Not acting.
Well that's true, but they did knew the scene cause they were given the script. Only it was the first scene ever like that and no one expected that
John Hurt knew as he had to give the performance
If you told these people that there’s actual insects that actually burst out of other insects, they’ll be the first line to leave this planet lol
I know this and I STILL wanna leave this planet.
For me, beyond the absolutely disgusting perfect practical effect, hearing Cartwright's anguished cry of " Oh, God! " really sells the whole thing.
@jamesdrynan, I agree re Cartwright's cry. I was saying as much the same on another video.
It's not anguish. It's disgust. She got hit by the fake blood in the face. Cartwright wasn't acting in the slightest. Same thing happened with Jason Miller in "The Exorcist". The scene where she vomits on him, the spray was supposed to hit his chest. Instead it not only got in his face, but in his mouth.
I was 7 years old when i first saw Alien. This scene didnt phase me! I was scared of the dark, thinking the xeno would jump out and get me.
3:36 - 3:41 “OMG…ITS CUTE!” 😂

Best comment.
@@rl2905 Thanks
Only Kane knew what was going to happen, the rest if the cast was only told to react.
Excellent for 70s practical effects huh?
An old myth. They knew what was going to happen. They just didn't know what the results would look like. The "Oh God!" was from being hit by the blood spray, which was definitely NOT expected.
I always love to see people's reactions to THIS specific movie scene, they're always so terrified beyond belief. I have yet to see someone like me laughing at the genius and pure enjoyment of Alien.
Bro, I'm laughing at their reactions!
Truly one of the most shocking and horrifying scenes in cinema
it's great to see that people still appreciate and have valid reactions to practical gore.
There's a story that Veronica Cartwright had no idea that there would be a spray of fake blood. Her on-screen scream was her real reaction and was used for the movie.
Fun fact: the makers didn't tell the cast that this was gonna happen except for John Hurt, and all of the actors' scared and shocked reactions were genuine.
Gotta be the GREATEST horror movie scene ever.
1:10 the second alien 👽 is the best.
god damn it's so amazing that even to this day people feel exactly like you did back in the day when you saw that scene for the first time. this movie is a masterpiece
Just noted: the brighter, pinkier and cuter makeup they have, the better reaction they'll show.
We need to recognize that a significant reason that this scene was so effective was due to the superb way that John Hurt sold this.
The first time I saw Alien was in 1980 when I was 6 years old. I thought the Alien tearing out of his chest was the coolest thing I'd ever seen.
Trivia: the cast weren't informed about this scene. You can see it in their faces when they stopped then got back into character.
It’s amazing how the cast didn’t know about this whole thing and their reactions are real.
One of the best horror movies I have ever scene.
1:28 me too.
Simone's reaction at the start was the best.
You want to know what an asthma attack feels like?
The video above shows you how painful an asthma attack is like because an asthma attack feels like there is a Chestburster bursting out of your chest.
That is how painful an asthma attack is.
Suddenly I'm thankful my asthma has died down in the past decade
2:58- One of my favorite jumpscares in movie history.
It's probably....... No, it is the most intense, iconic, and important entrance to a creature in a movie in film history. My father saw Alien in the theaters in 79 in his 20s, and it gave him nightmares. No wonder this is in the national film registry of congress film preservation.
It's the sound of it breaking through his sternum every time for me. Makes me look away everytime.
AKA: "Congratulations, it's a- OH MY GOD SWEET MARY MOTHER OF NOOO GET IT OF ME PLEASE AAAAAHHHHHH
When I was a kid, I didn’t understand the movie, I thought it was some weird lizard snake that just come out of nowhere the body (gruesome moment)
By the time I grew up
😨 that’s still gruesome as ever and still the only Alien movie that allowed this to happen
Now you know why us old farts still say this was the scariest movie we ever saw
What made that scene so good, was most of the cast had no idea what was going to happen. Their reactions were genuine.
03:39 IT S CUTE
🤮
Cartwright moaning “Oh, god!“ is so chilling.
Yaffet Kotto the big black guy had to take heart pills and lie down after this seen.
Yep. Anyone wanna go buggering about in outer space now?
Everyone : hysterical
Me : :l
Where are the new videos?!
Ah yes back when movies wheremovies
So... These people didn't watch a movie, ever...
Parasite eating a human from the inside out, and bursting through someone's chest, had not been done before.
Imagine 200 people in the theater all screaming in unison as these folks did by themselves.
@@sammencia7945exactly!
Que buenos recuerdos, excelentes películas de horror, para los que vinieron esa época, ahora todos les da miedo, nosotros las disfrutamos.

🙄😒must give these people "oscar" 🏆award for "reacting" to the XeNOPEmorph Chestburster over dramatic....wow over reaction with their video cam filming on them..too much fake reaction😒🙄
Blah, by the time I saw this as a kid, I was used to fish guts and plucking chickens. What a pack of wimps...
good for you, nobody asked
Psycho detected
Super fake reaction
Not faked in any way. The producers did not tell any of the actors, apart from John Hurt, what was about to happen; they were only told to react. And Angela Cartwright's reaction to being sprayed with blood was 100% authentic.
