I like to follow the policy of “silent cringe” You can find something cringe, but you just keep it to yourself and move on as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. I also remind myself of how cringey i was as a kid, but how happy it made me back then.

that logic is so flawed, I truly don't understand it whatsoever. Bullying the vast majority of the times will only make peoples problems worse. As someone who was bullied, I was extremely closed off until I left high school. And it was only after I left the place of where I was bullied so often I was able to build up the courage to begin working out and improve on myself.
Society is not ''messed up''. The only messed up part about it is that we accept bullies. We need to let kids be who they are without making them want to take their own lives for being who they are.@@niight3516

Yeah, that's also interesting because hearing your story makes me feel as though Louis definitely could have been a bit more respectful and understanding when addressing this viewpoit. The thing is, abuse is cyclical, as someone who has been bullied may eventually become the bully themself, or at least may end up believing that others deserve to be treated the same way they were if they don't fit in. They may think that they deserved to have been bullied because they were "cringe" and may therefore have this mindset that everyone has to fit in with the crowd. To justify this fallacious mindset, they may also look within themselves and recognize how the bullying they experienced caused them to grow as a person. It isn't necessarily true that people with harmful mindsets such as this are "stupid" as Louis puts it, but rather, it they may just be that they are misguided due to their own life experiences. Its sort of like internalized homophobia: If a gay person is told over and over that being gay is wrong and abnormal, then eventually some part of them may start to believe it, even if their conscious mind disagrees with that sentiment. Thus, they may supress that side of themself because society tells them that it'll be easier for them to just "be straight" even though it really isn't that simple. Idk, it's just a thought I had.

Bullying is also not the only way to become "stronger", just one of the options that are guaranteed to give you trauma without any guaranteed benefits. I was bullied for having good grades and wearing glasses and I remained just as shy as before, it just made me feel alienated from other people on top of it. What actually helped me gain confidence and experience in being in a social setting was fun experiences with friends in high school (where I wasn't bullied anymore because it was a pretty good school), my ex boyfriend gently encouraging/pushing me to do stuff like be the one who orders for us on dates, plus all the new things I had to do by myself anyway as I grew up. Self-improvement is not easy, but it does not have to be traumatic and we don't need bullying.

If you have tough skin, it's not BECAUSE you were bullied. You're strong despite it, not because of it. Pushing the idea that getting bullied makes you stronger or helps you grow thick skin is a harmful message, even if you don't intend it, because it allows less people to stop bullying, and it gives bullies an excuse to keep bullying you even more.
I had a friend who bullied everyone around him and then excused the behavior by saying that he was "preparing everyone for the real world". Him saying racist things to me, humiliating me in public, and sexually harassing me just made me even more of a spineless coward than I already was, thinking that if I expressed how I feel, I'm "overly sensitive", and ironically, I think he made me feel even more insecure and overly sensitive. My thoughts are faultless and differences between me and others cannot be tolerated. If I see a weakness in you I must have at it, manipulate it into becoming something that encompasses your life while I walk off, laughing on the outside but on the inside I’m as empty as i was before. My heart craves meaning but the void of eternity wraps around it , reminding me of the true inconsequentialness of my existence. NO. I must fight back no matter the cost. I could tear down the clouds from the sky and throw them down into the depths but it would be to no avail. In the end the only way to make the well have function, have purpose, is to fix it. Add a true bottom to the well, seal it up and make it sturdy so it won’t cave in like it had previously. This would take work however. Effort to see what needed to be fixed, see what I had broken. Effort I don’t have. No. Instead I pour in more, the well never getting fuller while everything else get emptier. The fish cannot breath. The people cannot drink. The rain cannot fall and now all is empty. Just like the well. Just like m-

The whole "bring bullying back" trend triggers me so deeply. Because i remember getting bullied in school every fucking day, and every day i felt more and more depressed to the point that taking my own life felt like bliss, i felt it was the only way out since one i wasn't allowed to change schools due to my parents financial issues, and second because the principal of the school was very manipulative and didn't care about the bullying that occured.
Now im 22 almost 23 and i STILL haven't gone over it as you can clearly tell, my entire childhood had to come to a halt i couldn't live out my childhood properly, because i had to grow up fast and protect myself from the outside world. I still have to live with the trauma, and i still have to deal with many mental issues. I also recently noticed (recent as 2022) that im autistic and that explained A LOT why i was such an easy target, it all makes sense to me, but it also makes me sad because if i wasn't neurodivergent i wouldn't have to suffer like i did.
Do NOT bring bullying back, it's literally abuse both mental and physical depending on what kind of bullying people are going through. And it will destroy someone mentally completely or even make someone take their own life. It is not funny, and it certainly won't make you a good person.

Abusers dont get to water down the language that refers to their abuse. The same way I wouldn't call someone hitting their wife "punishment". Thats abuse. When you rephrase it as bring back abuse because these people inconvenience me. You start to relaize how insidious what theyre saying is. They want to abuse people for what? Wearing dog collars or cat ears? Doing things? Just existing? Peer abuse never went away. It just changed form. Lets be honest.

It's great that bullying made you stronger, but for me it was the exact opposite. I'm neurodivergent, I was bullied for it and I had no way of defending myself or standing up to my bullies because my social skills were about as good as you can imagine for a child with autism and ADHD. I didn't get stronger, I became suicidal. I had no support system. When I left middle school and went to high school, I became the biggest asshole known to man in order to avoid being bullied again. I hit my friends and insulted them constantly. I did horrible things that I still regret. I hurt people that were important to me, again and again. Bullying broke me and made me into a monster. It took me years to recover from that state, to feel safe enough to be human again. Bullying doesn't make you stronger. Healing makes you stronger but is it worth it? Is it worth being broken just for the sake of maybe glueing yourself back together, hoping that you're somehow better now than you were then? I still have trust issues and I feel like everyone is judging me all the time, even strangers. There are parts of me that will never recover from the experience of being bullied. I'm glad that for you it wasn't that way, but for some people there are ZERO benefits to bring bullied. ZERO.

I got bullied when i was around 5 till 7 y/o, i would be beaten almost everyday, even the teacher bullied me,i had many suicidal thoughts when i was 5 y/o, the worst is when i told my mother about that (i was 8 and had already left that school) she ignored me and said "why didn't you tell me before?" I was devastated, please don't encourage bullying anymore it sucks and sometimes people commit suicide because of it

Bullying is not fun. I experienced a lot of it back in my high school years I was picked on a lot because I was a special needs student. I almost took my own life several times because of the continuous bullying. As someone who's been bullied and recovered from it for ten years it's not a good idea to bring back bullying. Not only it can be traumatizing for some people but it can ruin a lot of people's mental health.

I made a TikTok about "bRiNg bAcK BuLlYiNg" but I didn't really get into enough detail. People just say it whenever anyone doesn't conform to their standard of "normal" - if someone is alternative or looks or acts different in any way. Even if someone has a difference that they can't control, like being LGBT or neurodivergent. People have this idea that "bullying" keeps society under control by keeping people "normal", when all it really does is traumatise people into hiding parts of themselves. Even if some of these people do claim to have been bullied, I doubt that they've experienced anything more than occasional mild name-calling or mutual fighting. The term "bullying" is just so misunderstood and infantilised. It's so much more than kids picking on each other sometimes. Bullying is harassment; it's abuse and it is traumatising. Which is why I prefer to call it what it is. But God forbid *they* call it what it is. Nobody's likely to stay popular if they say "bring back harassment" or "bring back abuse". And then they frame it as just a joke, claiming that we're the sensitive SJWs who can't take a joke (which is gaslighting, by the way). Also, bullying never even went away. People are just starting to accept each other more in wider society. Also, I talk a lot when I'm angry about something.

Thank you. Bullying is abuse. Bullying is harassment.
It’s probably not the most extreme form of either, but it still is those things.
People say “bullying” instead of “harassment” because Teachers and society in general has convinced people that bullying is something as simple as making fun of someone’s shoes once.

Making people hiding their socially unacceptable traits and behaviors is the entire point of bullying, even if does not make them normal, regard.
