  • More flying to get comfortable with flying this wing. I love how efficient it is and how long I can stay in the air. Was using a 4S 4000mAh li-ion battery and could have flown for a lot longer!
    The biggest issue for me and this plane is turning, it just doesn’t turn well. I think some of that is my being used to FPV drones and the way the plane is designed. I have a sailplane that I’ve flown close and it turns so much better. I installed a flight controller yesterday and am working on gps and receiver mounting so I can put it back up in the air with way better range and features like return to home, loiter, etc

    May i know your motor and prop size? Your dolphin AUW without battery?

      I will have to get my weight and prop size when I am home from work in about 6 hours or so. I can tell you that my motor is a 2507 1800kv.

      587g and I’m using the 7” prop that came with my Dolphin. There is no label or pitch info on the prop.

      Oic...no wonder u fly with very low amp...i still use 2306 motor with 5-6 inch but still cannot match your low amp, sir....for me, thats a good flight even in windy condition

      @@YT-qp3xw yes it helps a lot during flight but I do get more amp draw when launching then I did with the stock 2306 motor. Thank you

    Land into wind....That was a shockingly bad number of landing approaches....😮😳🇬🇧

      Prior to this fight I’ve landed my sailplane once and this once. Is 2 actual attempts at landing when I’ve only had 2 landings ever with fixed wing a “shockingly bad number of landing approaches”?

      @@smithe68 Your flying FPV before learning how to fly LOS?...😳😳 Ah, you've started with DJI drones, then quads...explains a lot..Id practice your line of sight flying with the Dolphin. You get more visual queues flying line of sight. For instance, I will come off the Monitor or Goggles to land an FPV plane. It always results in a better landing....😏

      @@EnglishTurbines I flew a DJI spark back in like 2017, then didn’t fly until 2020 where I started with analog FPV. Then I switched to digital VTXs for clearer video to my eyes. I learned to fly the hard way, no sims, lots of crashing. Flying LOS is an emergency thing at best for me, I’ve done it with quads and a little bit with a sailplane and I don’t have a good eye for it but the moment I get goggles on, everything is just right for me. I can’t judge speed and if I’m up in the air at all I can’t judge if I’m climbing or decending. I’ve progressed a ton since this flight. Built a second Dolphin and recently a Zohd Altus which I am really enjoying.

    Why have you only got 7 Satellites??....very risky to have so few...Here in the UK over 20 is normal....😮😳😏🇬🇧

    • @smithe68
      @smithe68  4 месяца назад +1

      Honestly I don’t know why so few. I’m not so sure the be220 that came with the kit is all that good. I’m planning on switching to an M10, which in my experience on FPV quads locks fast and gets a lot of satellites, I’ve seen upwards of 30 before.

      @@smithe68 I think you mean the Betian GPS receiver?...yes, it's not very good, only good for 10 or 12 Sats on a good day...I use the latest Caddex M10 on my quads. Fast lock and around 26 Sats. Have you tried LOS flying yet at all?...🤔🤔

    • @smithe68
      @smithe68  4 месяца назад +1

      @@EnglishTurbines that might be it, I just know the model number for it. It came with the Dolphin kit. I use GepRC M10s on most of my quads, both the full size and the mini and definitely have fast locks and a lot of sats. See my other comment but the short version is, I have but I have real issues with it.

      @@smithe68 Checkout the Caddex GPS...it's around 15 dollars. Dirt cheap for an M10, plug in and even a Compass built in in case you build a quad...🤔😏😏😀🇬🇧 You really should learn LOS before FPV....lol.

    • @smithe68
      @smithe68  4 месяца назад +1

      @@EnglishTurbines Thanks for the tip, that’s a fair bit cheaper than any M10 I’ve seen, especially with a compass. I’ve built a lot of quads over the past 4 years. Funny thing, I built my first quad on this day in 2020, about one month after my first FPV fight attempt. I try every once in a while, it usually ends up in me crashing. I can land a quad LOS but no forward movement needed vs a fixed wing but I do get what you are saying.
