There is something about a square journal that is just so amazing! I’m dying for one, but i already have a lot of blank notebooks, so my goal is to use them all up before buying anything new
I hope to start a reading journal this year, but just as much for my non-fiction and self development books. I tend to forget where I read certain inspirations and I think something more visual will help. 📚
I started a reading journal this month, because I wanted to really remember every book I read-- so many just flew out of my head when I got to the next one, and this year I want to spend more time digesting and considering each book I read. I also love the creative aspect!
I hope you had nice and relaxing holidays. I redid and expanded my whole reading journal for 2021 in your sunrise journal and I'm now really happy with it. I'm looking forward to all the great books I want to read in 2022. Last week I started "The Fifth Season", because I finally got the whole trilogy in my library 🥳 I'm glad you are back 😊📚😍
As someone who started her 6th annual reading journal this month, I get you girl! Looking back at them is such a treat, they have a place of honor on my desk and I'm not planning on removing them anytime soon!
Elizabeth, for me the cat hair is a plus. Did you know that among folks who use a floor frame for quilting, the correct tension is one gives enough to support the weight of a cat?
This will be my second year using a reading journal! I loved mine last year, I'm currently making this year's spreads because my notebook arrived super late in the mail, but I'm having a lot of fun making them! I've already read 11 books this year, so I gotta hurry up so I can fill them in! 📚
It really inspired me. This is a great video and the way you describe your reading journal is so satisfying. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am looking ahead to seeing your 2023 bullet journal and reading journal ideas.
This is lovely. I found Frankenstein to be one of the most depressing books I've ever read. I like your House of Leaves layout. I read most of House of Leaves. It became difficult with my arthritis, when I had to continuously turn the page for the one-word-per-page section.
I'd love to see a video of you creating one of your book spreads in detail! Like how you choose your pictures, what sort of content you write down, how you organize your thoughts about the book, etc. Happy 2022, I truly love your work ♥️✨
Welcome back Elizabeth! So nice to see this video. Love the look, feel and size of your reading journal. I will like to try a journal like that for my reading notes, I feel there is lot of space for more pictures and to get crafty. Thanks for sharing!
I was just looking at reading journal vids at semi-random as I'm setting up my first reading journal, and I had to pause and come down and comment on how perfect your House of Leaves spread is! I could immediately recognize, you captured the vibe of the book so well.
I started a reading journal 3 weeks ago. I’m new to the concept, but I chose to include a quick info of the book (author, year it was published, page number, and my star rating that i fill in when i have read the book. Then i have a list of characters, and themes that i find throughout the book and literary deviced i find. Then keep a page or two for my favorite quotes, and then a short summary of the book as well as a short paragraph on what i felt when reading it. I’m hoping now, as i watch this, that i can get some tips and tricks on this😍
I've started my very first reading journal this year. Already behind on my book spreads. 😂 I'm using the same journal you have here and I'm really enjoying the square layout. Personally I'm not doing monthly pages/breakdowns just cause I feel like that'll make it feel like more of a chore for me to get to, so I've got my yearly stats page for the end of 2022 and that's it. Though I did throw in a couple of challenges for me to fill in as I read throughout the year. Your first half year flip through was actually the video that first inspired me to start a journal. I love the scrapbookish aesthetic you have and watching this flip through, I just get such good vibes looking at your spreads. Can't wait to see how your new journal progresses and hear about the books you read this year! 📚📚📚
I’m here for all your content but my personal favorite videos are the book journal things. It inspires me to read more, diversify my reading, and reflect on them
FireKeeper’s Daughter was an amazing book. One that really lives up to the hype around it. Also, love the scrapbook layout reviews. It really inspires me to up my review pages in my journal.
I read hold still by Nina lacour about a week ago and really loved it! I picked up we are okay and am gonna pick up watch over me! I love your journaling so much!! ❤️
Watching your other reading journal flip through sparked me to start my own. After seeing so many, I just went with it. So thank you. Out of all of the books you mentioned in this journal, I started this month with Firekeeper's Daughter. I was not disappointed at all! Being of indigenous roots myself, it was very fitting to read this beautifully written story. *I know you asked about House of Leaves, but I haven't gotten to that one yet. 🖤 Thank you for sharing your full journal filled in. It gives me a visual of what I have to look forward to.
I can listen to your voice for hours Elizabeth🥰 And this flip thru.... damn i was waiting and waiting, and the waiting did not let me down. I really love your journal 🥰🥰🥰 stay safe and I hope you had a good vacation!
✨ Happy 2022 ✨ Hope you had a great holiday and you were able to relax these last weeks. Glad to see you back and with a great video! Just love all the spreads in your reading journal. So creative.
I would love, love, love more reading journal videos. I love the scrapbook vibe and it gives me so much inspiration. I'm about to finish my third book of the year (I'm reading the Poppy War trilogy right now) and I can't believe I let myself let go of reading. I mostly read physical books, and this series is 600+ pages per book so I'm amazed at myself already!
i absolutely love book journaling! i’m relatively new to it but now i’ll never stop - it’s such a fun tangible way of keeping record. yours is so beautiful, thanks for sharing it with us ❤️ it seems like we have really similar taste in books/genres, i’ll definitely be making a list of the books you featured here!
You just gave me such a great idea of creating a writing journal in almost the same method as this journal. I write fanfictin and novels on the side and used to write all my chapters down in bullet format so I can compile my thoughts. I haven't done that in so long, and my writing has definitely suffered without that. I think doing something like this will help get my creative juices flowing again. So thank you for the inspiration!
WOW thank you for sharing you reading journal. I love the vintage vibe you have used very nice. I have never thought of doing a journal but now I just might do that, I have not read many books this last year or two but you have sparked my interest again though. Thanks.
I read House of Leaves in July of 2021 as well and I loved it. I didn't find it as creepy or frightening as many others have, but that did not take anything away from the book for me at all. It was just a great novel that makes you think and stays with you for a while. The format isn't for everyone, but it's a book that I highly recommend.
I believe it falls under the genre of Horror. It’s mainly about a couple that move into a house in which the dimensions often change. The inside of the home is much bigger than the outside. The measurements never add up & a spiral staircase, a maze, and a Minotaur type creature come into play. It also plays on a “found footage” idea. It’s a very difficult book to explain because there are many different facets to it. I hope this helps and doesn’t confuse you too much!
These spreads are so pretty, it makes me want to start a Reading Journal too. If only I had the time... But this video really reminded me of your Bujo Babble/coffee talk videos. I kinda miss them. Also I don't remember, if you have already done a video on this, but I would love to see how you do your tea stained paper. Because mine never turn out this color intesive and unique. Much love from Germany dear Elizabeth
Oh my god THE BLUE CASTLE one of my all time favorites!!!! This is the only video (besides mine) I’ve EVER seen it mentioned in. I’m geeking out right now. 🤣🥰😍✨
Hi! Lovely to see you back and glad you had a long break! Thank you for the video! I keep thinking about doing a reading journal but with Goodreads and tracking in my regular journal, I'm on the fence... 📖📚📖📚
have you thought about making a video about how you make your stats? I think a lot of us would be interested in that process. and I love how your reading journal ended up looking, soooo lovely 💚💚
My reading journal is so plain, but it's the only way I know I would keep up with it and writing my thoughts... lol. So I'll just enjoy other's artistry with their journals! Love this aesthetic so much!!! Can't wait to follow along for your 2022 journey
The monthly introduction pages are STUNNING!! Do you print them out yourself? My printer is pretty bad so I try to get my images from magazines, but they're never as cool as the ones you got! Thanks for showing us!
Since you liked the book Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier so much (and I just bought a copy of it), have you ever seen the cover of it in the VMC edition? It’s black, gold and red and I think it would look stunning as a monthly cover page inspo!!
i started a reading/media journal for both books and movies/shows i watch and im doing collages and journaling my thoughts on the things i want to remember - it’s already so much fun and less structured that my bujo 😍
i absolutely love your spreads, especially the house of leaves one! it fits perfectly and it was so clever of you to write some stuff upside down. when i finally get around to doing my spread for that book i'll probably do footnotes or something lol. i just bought a square journal for the pure purpose of setting up a book bracket like you did, i loved that video so much (also it made me read the blue castle and it was phenomenal!!! that ending!!!!! ugh, so perfect.)
Omg how could I not add footnotes!! BRB. And aw I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I love that book so much ❤️ I read it as an ebook from my library but I bought a physical copy to keep.
📖 I'm thinking about starting a Reading Journal for 2022, I listen to a lot of audiobooks and feel as though I want to remember to take a little break between books and reflect about the narrative, how the book made me feel etc. Now I kinda just jump into the next book and looking back on 2021 it's just a hodgepodge of storylines and characters 😅
I love it. I started my reading journal this year! I need to add Rebecca to my TBR as I love the movie since I was a kid (I’m not that old 🤣 I love old movies).
I love this! Plantmas reading journal setup made me set one up too! I don’t know if I can fill up the notebook in one year, so it might last me longer, but I love it!
watching this (or any of your reading journal vids ngl) always makes me want to start a reading journal but then I have to stop and remind myself that I haven't finished a book in years ToT
I partially did a reading journal but it was a purchased one last year. It had reading challenges in it and discovered "84, Charing Cross Road" by Helene Hanff which turned out to be one of my favorites of the year, but I didn't complete the journal yet. This year I'm using a bullet journal and I'm using it lot more already. 📚
I had to laugh--we clearly share some brain cells, because last August I used the same exact picture as my cover page in my main bullet journal! Good taste, madam. ;) That said, you read so many of my favorites this year and your spreads are always so beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing!
The midnight library, the house is the cerulean sea, this is how you lose the time war, the priory of the orange tree, the night circus, piranesi ( gonna start it tomorrow), those are books we have in common and I’m glad I’ve found in French for this year 😊 Just finished « un bucher sous la neige » written by Susan Fletcher, I’m pretty sure the VO title is « Corrag » and you might like it : in 1692 in Scotland, Corrag has been accused of being a witch her whole life and she’s about to be burnt alive for her crime and she tells the story of her life to this religious man who’s actually not really here for her. I would love to know how you print such clear and well-formatted mini covers of all of the books you read! Does anyone else have recommendations for this either? Thanks!
I wish there was a list of the books your read because it was hard to look for the title when a word here and there wasn't clear enough, but it's your channel. You do you.
Ahhh, I gave in an bought a A&O journal for my reading this year (thanks for the code/discount💜) Also, I started reading the Broken Earth trilogy because of your video and I am in love with them! Waiting to get The Stone Sky from my library now. Love these videos! I hope you had a restful break.
There is something about a square journal that is just so amazing! I’m dying for one, but i already have a lot of blank notebooks, so my goal is to use them all up before buying anything new

It's definitely helpful for taking notes when reading nonfiction!
I do this as well.
-I keep quotes
- I track of how many books I read.
- I have a bracket page
- notes
- how to learn faster section
I love when a finished journal looks so thick and chunky from the outside, lt makes it feel well and truly alive
Best book. journal I've ever seen. Truly inspiring.
You inspired me to start a reading journal for 2022! Thank you!
I'm so glad! I hope you love filling in each and every page ❤
Me too!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

It really inspired me. This is a great video and the way you describe your reading journal is so satisfying. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am looking ahead to seeing your 2023 bullet journal and reading journal ideas.
I will start a reading journal this year + i will also include quotes i like on it in random pages. Your flip through inspired me so much.

Omg I love your style of scrapbooking the books you’ve read! You’ve inspired me to read more this year❤️
Thank you so much! I love that 🥰
Okay that house of leaves spread is epic!! I read it when it first came out and it's still one of my favorite, memorable reads of all times.
I was just looking at reading journal vids at semi-random as I'm setting up my first reading journal, and I had to pause and come down and comment on how perfect your House of Leaves spread is! I could immediately recognize, you captured the vibe of the book so well.

That olive color on your nails had me distracted for the 1st 10 min. HAD TO LOOK IT UP!!! Thanks for including it in the description box 😍
Thanks for posting! I am always impressed with your artwork in your journals and it is a delight to watch. ❤📚🎨
House of leaves is absolutely amazing!!!! Definitely one of my favorite books. And your spread is pretty on point with the book. 100% recommend.
Love this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to do my spreads for books I read monthly and I love this
My journal from when I was reading House of Leaves 14 years ago is definitely crazy to go back and read. LOVE that book so much.
So ready for this!💖 Love to see how chunky it got📖
Haha me too! It’s out of control 😂
I read Rebecca in high school and I literally fell in love with it.

Thank you! I slept a lot, and it was definitely needed haha
I read House of Leaves in 3 weeks for a class last semester, and I definitely need to go back and work through it more slowly!
Oh wow, yeah. Reading it in a few weeks would be a lot!

hey, would you like to talk about it?
Oh no! Sending hugs your way ❤️

Hi! Lovely to see you back and glad you had a long break! Thank you for the video! I keep thinking about doing a reading journal but with Goodreads and tracking in my regular journal, I'm on the fence... 📖📚📖📚
Your reading journal is pure art. Love it so much.

They’re all amazing!!
Wow!!! This reading journal is so precious! 🤩😍

I hope see more reading journal videos, because I loved all the videos you make in 2021! ❤️
I’d love to make more! Do you have any particular requests?
@@PlantBasedBride the videos about the challenges you wanna try this year in your reading journal would be great 😃
I love your reading journal! It's the most beautiful reading journal I've ever seen!! 😍

I read House of Leaves over the course of like a year lol. I'll never forget it 😊
i started a reading/media journal for both books and movies/shows i watch and im doing collages and journaling my thoughts on the things i want to remember - it’s already so much fun and less structured that my bujo 😍
Oh that sounds lovely!
i absolutely love your spreads, especially the house of leaves one! it fits perfectly and it was so clever of you to write some stuff upside down. when i finally get around to doing my spread for that book i'll probably do footnotes or something lol. i just bought a square journal for the pure purpose of setting up a book bracket like you did, i loved that video so much (also it made me read the blue castle and it was phenomenal!!! that ending!!!!! ugh, so perfect.)
Omg how could I not add footnotes!! BRB. And aw I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I love that book so much ❤️ I read it as an ebook from my library but I bought a physical copy to keep.

Oh gosh, I wish I was as creative as you when it comes to journalling
Love your reading journals. I binged the whole playlist. I love how well your printer prints your pictures. What printer do you use?
Your journal is so pretty! And I love the ideas you had with it

I wish there was a list of the books your read because it was hard to look for the title when a word here and there wasn't clear enough, but it's your channel. You do you.
That wasn’t really the purpose of this video but you can always tap the link in my bio to go to my goodreads for a full list if you’d like!
@@PlantBasedBride sure, I'm interested in the ones you said had a subtle horror vibe to it!
I’m contemplating a reading journal. Does Audible count???? I’m loving the craft paper.
I jotted down some books to add to my TBR mountains. 😀📓
I really want to create a reading journal now! :D Sending love and creative vibes
