    Thank you RV Batman Jr. for all your videos. I am a new camper owner of a used 2016 Keystone 28ft Springdale Summerland series. I have learned a lot from your videos before we went on our first camping trip. I took my sisters' advice about taking at least 3 trips no farther than 25 minutes/miles from home because you always either forget something or need to run back home in case something goes wrong and your not to far out from your home if you need to go back.

I then read the comments and approximately 90% of the comments were about how good the guy demonstrated the black tank flush. However Due to the fact that the majority disagreed with my opinion, I watched the video a second time. The man was on point, and did show what I needed. On my black tank rinsing process, I have been leaving the valve closed and rinsing. I can hear the spray jets clearly and I monitor my tank level. When it gets about 2/3 full, I can no longer hear the spray valves. I open the valve back up and get a good clean water rush. Also, we leave the black closed and the gray open when camping. The gray fills up frequently with a family of 4 showering. The tank is only 35 gallons and no one besides me knows how to take a Navy shower.

    Thanks JR. I have a black tank flush system question. I have a 2021 Keystone Cougar half-ton model 24RDS 5th wheel. Do I need to use a water pressure regulator on the hose for the black tank flush? Could not get a straight answer from dealer. I understand my black tank has been emptied and value open. I know you use a water pressure regulator on the drinking hose for city water connection, do not know if I have to use another water pressure regulator on my different water hose, I use for black tank flush. My connections on my 5th wheel are the same as your video except they are in the command center in my front storage bay. Thank again.

    My black tank flush out might be stuck… I recently bought a new (new to us) trailer and when I went to use the flush it didn’t work at all. The hose had lots of pressure but there was no water coming from the tank. Do you think it’s plugged somehow? Is there a valve that needs to be opened?

    Thank you! Very informative. Three questions:
    1) We use our black tank only for urine (no TP either) because we have a composting toilet. We made the mistake of keeping the black tank valve open (after emptying it and flushing it) when we released the Grey tank valve to empty that. Is this bad?
    2) how do we flush the Grey tank?
    3) we’ve not used the fresh water tank yet - how do we clean it/sanitize it before our first use? So far, we’ve only been connecting to city water at campsites. It’s a 2018 Coachmen Leprechaun 32BH and we just bought it.
    Thank you!

    • @therealjr9175
      @therealjr9175 4 года назад

      No if liquid is the only thing going in the tank it is not an issue the way it is with solids
      Grey tanks do not have flushes and in my opinion do not need them seeing how they do not have any solid or tissue going in the tank
      I do not sanitize the fresh tank because I do not drink from it. However the fresh tank cleaners and products have instruction and they change from brand to brand. I do not know who recommend sense I do not use it. Wont recommend anything I do use and know if the product works good or not

    When flushing couldn't you close black tank valve until tank get 3/4 full then flush again rather then leaving black tank open the whole time?

    • @KeystoneRVCenter
      @KeystoneRVCenter  5 лет назад +2

      The manufacturer recommends leaving the black valve open during the process to allow the system to work properly as well as to prevent any potential risk of overflowing the tank into your RV, always better safe than sorry.

    • @therealjr1715
      @therealjr1715 5 лет назад +2

      If you use enough water when you flush the toilet you should not have to back fill the tank. The old idea of back filling comes form a combo of not using enough water when flushing and purge flushing a tank (before black tank flush was on a lot of trailers)

  • @wheretheskygrows
    @wheretheskygrows 2 года назад +1

    So when you say the tank needs to be 2/3 full before you dump, and if that means using the shower head to get there, you mean into the toilet? Isn't using the flush port on the outside doing the same thing? In either case, the black tank valve should be open? I guess I'm confused how it gets to 2/3 full if the valve is open? (We are weekenders, not full timers). Can you clarify?

    • @KeystoneRVCenter
      @KeystoneRVCenter  2 года назад +1

      You want the tank to be 2/3 filled so you get a good flush of water and keep the tank from building solids up on the bottom. We are going to be updating this video shortly so we can go into more details soon

They are installed being that you have to use and if it didn't work you would have to take off the hose and replace the old sewer hose. Is this how Jayco's are set up. • @therealjr1715
      @therealjr1715 5 лет назад +1

      Some good logic behind that but more miss information. Let me explain
      Both ridex and some rv chemicals us enzymes to work the difference is RV chemicals are designed to work faster. Home Ridex is designed to work over years we need ours to work in days. I am sure that a 175LHS would have a smaller black tank. If it was me I would only use RV chemicals. That small of a tank I would want them to work as fast as possible. I see a lot of people using home made fixes to try and fix problems from not using the system correctly in the first place.

    • @therealjr9175
      @therealjr9175 5 лет назад

      There should be one for each one....other products I have seen with dual baths have one for each. However If it does not have two flushes try hooking a hose up to each dump and seeing which one water flows out of. If there is only one dump you will have to contact Keystone Manufacturing to see how they ran the flushing system. Call the customer service number for them it is 1-866-425-4369

      That would be my bet. Or something in them. You can try clean and lube or for a 2006 I would just replace. If it was a 2016 I would say clean and lube. You got your money out of a 2006 knife valve

    I really do appreciate your time in making these videos. I've been full time for the past 15 years but still learn from them. I am however a newbie to Macerator toilets. Mine is a Tecma 2G and I'm wondering if it is still necessary to leave the black tank valve closed? I have been doing so since I bought this fifth wheel but, there is absolutely no solids present when draining the tank. I would like to hear your professional opinion or recommendation on this.

    Thank you for the video, JR! We just bought a used 2012 Starcraft Autumn Ridge 278BHS tow-behind trailer, and plan to live in it full-time. When empty, the black tank reads 3/4 full. I attempted to use the black tank flush (with the black tank open), and clean water started running down the back of the trailer, as well as spraying out of what appeared to be some not-so-tight connections under the sink.
    Should I have disconnected my fresh water line from the city first?
    Also, since the water never made it to my black tank, does this indicate a non-functioning pump for the black flush?
    Thanks again! Your videos are extremely helpful!

    • @KeystoneRVCenter
      @KeystoneRVCenter  5 лет назад

      Lori, We cannot speak for that particular model, as we do not carry any Keystone products. We have had the name longer than they have, so there is always confusion on this. Typically, a secondary black tank should have it's own black tank flush and it's own sewer outlet, assuming the product line offers black tank flushes. If it does not have one, then I would suggest having one installed at a reputable service center. It should be flushed and emptied the same way as the primary black tank. -MARK

    JR, thank you for all the awesome videos, I really enjoy them. I recently purchased a new camper and while dewinterizing and sanitizing I inadvertently over filled the black tank with the toilet. I expected when it overflowed it would back up into the toilet bowl however when it reached the top of the tank it was leaking into the enclosed underbelly. The dealer and manufacture say this is correct and not an issue but it seems like a bad deal to me and the system should be sealed. Is that commonly what happens when a black tank over fills? I'm just glad it happened fresh clean water and the toilet hasn't been used yet!
