@@alexandrexavier3273 you executing stage’s radiator swaps is not hard. Not a rag or spill in sight. And how do you brake a fan when the fan does not work?
"Always go back to the basics..." A very young friend of mine could not get the brake lights to work on his hooptie 1994 Civic. He asked me how hard it was to rewire the car to make the lights work again so the car would be legal. I had one question for him... "Did you check the fuse?" "Ummm...what fuse?" The fuse for the brake lights wasn't blown...it was MISSING. Put one in and there was light! 😂😂😂
Or you can just set a multimeter to continuity and put either lead on the metal prongs on the top of the fuse. I keep a cheap multimeter in my motorcycle for this exact reason… it’s now saved my ass, twice.
@@jamesbradley2468 Probably heavily built especially those used in Police work where idling engines need lots of cooling on summer days.... but also need to be able to withstand high speed long distance runs in pursuit work?
@@JohnSmith-yv6eq yes. Either in forward or reverse depending which motor mount is broken. Also it seems like possibly these fan blades sometimes just come apart from the inertia of spinning high rpms
Quick tip: never use solder joints on car electrical harness. The wires will break next to the solder joint due to the vibrations… use mechanical connections instead. 🍷
I have an 95 e36 m3 and have replaced two electric fans. Make sure to have your mesh cover or the lux package blades. They help. Also should have swapped out for aluminum coolant reservoir. They are notorious to leak and break.
her voice is really easy to listen to. I love some of the passionate guys I've seen, but their voices are good for hype, which gets exhausting after a while. I'm really digging the almost lounge vibe of this kind of video.
I had an E39 M5 that threw a fan blade exactly like that, and knocked a perfectly rectangular dent into the hood from the inside, the exact profile of the end of the blade. I think it was at that moment that I decided I had had enough of this car's constant strange problems and would be getting rid of it.
Smart. I’ve had 2 fans break, the first one took out my overflow hose which I needed to also replace my expansion tank. Just get my car back after I got a manual swap (I didn’t have the space to do a swap like that) & while it was in the shop I got the rest of the stuff I needed done. ONE THING BEING THE FAN BLADE & SHROUD. Day of getting it back my new fucking blade breaks off 2 blades then after I make sure I’m good enough to get home a THIRD ONE BROKE OFF. Now it seems to be “alright” enough to drive as long as I’m not going like 5k rpm I think I’ll be alright. Kinda harder to stay below 3k in mine due to the 3.91 diff lol
FYI the best option is to source a BMW mechanical clutch diesel fan. No additional wires and the diesel fan is much stronger with a connected outer rim
I prefer the belt driven fan Just removing the fan shroud should give you enough room to keep it from breaking the fan The plastic ties will rub a hole in the radiator tubes or core And you should put another fan on the AC condenser pushing and pulling air into the engine compartment The mechanical one is more dependable aluminum flex fans are good without the fan clutch.
My grandpa always told this. K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple, Stupid. Amd he's right. Now, I always test fuses and ground before anything else. Good advice to use working on anything, even if it's a bit on the nose.
Never had my clutch fan fail on my 330ci I track, I converted from an electric fan to clutch fan actually because the electric fan was constantly giving me problems 🤷♂️
Swapping to an electric fan is a must these days, clutch fans are a thing of the past! They absolutely sap horsepower, and don't help for cooling as they're just an additional load on the engine!
No! Never solder on a car wiring connection! Cars move around a lot and so does the wiring inside them. Manufacturers specifically use stranded wire because its flexible and can withstand all that jostling around. When you solder, you turn that flexible stranded wire into a rigid connection that can break. Use marine grade butt splices or type B connectors instead as it keeps the connection as flexible as possible
This is the cleanest mechanic on the planet

Very professional! Love the attention to detail.
Professional would see the blown fuse and wonder what blew it and would diagnose the source of the blown fuse. There’s a reason fuses are there
NO PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. YOU WILL KNOE HOW IS PROFESSIONAL JUST BY THERE LOOKS. SHE IS NOT PROFESSIONAL

Soldering wires in a hot engine bay - what could go wrong with that?
Not much, I've done it a few times.@@Dkmasteris

If checking ATO/ATC fuses is a nuisance, you can also buy ones with a small red light that lights up if the fuse is blown. Real handy.

You inspire me to wrench on my cars. Thanks! 🔥💯

Good to see you wire things the right way and not the half fast way

That's what I was coming in to say.
Is the engine moving too much so the fan can contact what it shouldn't???

I miss wrenching on cars. I was broke and had to do it, learned a lot, and enjoyed it. Not on my daily, though.
Solder and heatshrink good stuff
Seen too many forgetting to solder 😂
Done ✔️ right the first time. 😊
Good shit, very proud 👍🏼💯
Looks like it was a fun project!

Well done literally talent. Keep on doing what your doing. 🎉
Super job!
The M-Parallel wheels look soooo good
Not too difficult good on ya!
Good stuff 👍🏽
You should check your motor mounts if you are breaking your fan shroud

Nice job. Indeed - check the basics, just saved my son $120 on an alternator by fixing a loose connection!
That's so much work for a fan. I guess it's worth it, but this must have taken a good days work or more with the amount of disassembly.
My advice to you is to add a turn on switch for the fan 🤝
Good job keep up
You rock!!
I like the detailed video this nice!!
Impressive
Been there, done that - on my Classic Mustang.
You get some HP gains going electric. I will never have a viscous fan clutch on any of my vehicles again!
Hey good work. Calm level headed. 👍
You are so cool 👍👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯
I don't understand why the fans would break. It's the ultimate driving machine...

yup my e46 fan went right through my rad where I did the same conversion
Nice jobs ❤

Damn you made me realize I forgot to install the water temp sensor. Wonder why the fan was starting only with ac on ahah

😅 been there many a time too then upgraded

I’ve heard on these these original clutch fan is the best for cooling especially for track or drifting sometimes OEM better
Very nice, I wonder if it's able to keep up with oem fan, i know these replacement electric fans often provide a massive efficiency drop
That video explains very well what it is to own a BMW 🤣

First swop you should do on your older BMW, replace the clutch fan before it blows
A for troubleshooting. D for cable management and protection. I wouldn't want cables just flapping around in the engine bay
Youre my idol pls do more rx 7 vids

Mine went through my hood on my E36 while drifting and took the radiator hoses 😂😂
Did your electric fan run against the bolt the fan clutch used to be at? I have this issue right now after trying to do a fan clutch delete
Clutch fan will always be superior (but it does rob 10-30hp depending on the motor and configuration)

Solder connections ? I thought this was a no go because they will break through vibration.
Try some stiffer mounts

Keep an eye on the temp gauge..these fans are not as strong as the mechanical ones. So the engine may overheat.
@LLDrifts did you replace the water pump pulley or just leave the threaded fan mount stub as is?
Ok, but what fuse blew? Why did it blow? Did you replace it with the same amperage rated fuse?

Always check the cheapest option first. And don't poke anything thru radiator fins
How’d you drain out the coolant with no spillage😮
Forget the fan, what you need it's a "car conversion". 👌💀
Where do the bottom radiator hoses go ? Since they clip on the bottom of fan shroud ?
