Great interview! I agree with the interviewer. RUclips is a huge boost for Rory's exposure. I had never heard of the great Rory Gallagher. And then one night a Rory vid popped up on my recommendations. Boy am I glad I selected that video!! I absolute 💗 Rory, and his band!!
Thank you very much for sharing. Born in Ballyshannon, March 2nd '48, nobody knew this baby's great fate, At 9 he received his first guitar From his parents Monica and Daniel Gallagher. Soon this great skill He began to master After winning a contest he bought a Fender Stratocaster Now living in Cork His beloved "hometown" Touring with show bands he became quite renowned, In bands like "Fontana", "the Impact" and "Taste" His name as a musician was spread at great pace. So know he was out and going it alone On His own guitar style he was able to hone Being able to play with Waters, Donegan n Lewis He was a legend in music and all of them knew it He never attained status of a major star But the fans that he did have would travel afar No matter what venue No matter what land Nothing would stop these die hard loyal fans The most amazing to see performing live Which he did right up till 1995 On the 14 of June this legend did pass But his songs and his music forever will last. In ballyshannon with friends where we gather each year We celebrate this great man with great music and cheer The Irish legend is quiet his body lies still But our hearts with his music Will always be filled So here's to you Rory Especially today Thinking of you A Million Miles Away
I think Rory was wrong about Edged in Blue. For some reason he didn't want to do anything to have a hit in the top 40, which was kind of important back then. He may have thought he was selling out. As hard as he tried to make it big in America, touring repeatedly, that says he wanted to be better known in the US. A hit record was the way back then.
BUT...as Donal said Rory didn't want to butcher the song by editing substance out of it. If he did it to taht song, he wasn't interested making followup singles
Great interview!

Donal never left his side through it all. There is something in me that Rory put there, that I needed. I'm crying right now...
