“Marines die, that’s what we’re here for, but the Marine Corps lives forever and that means YOU... LIVE... FOREVER!!!!” -Lee Ermey Rest in peace old friend, you will live forever in the hearts and minds of the people for all eternity.
There was a Coors Light beer commercial with him in it as well. There is a youtube video of him as the voice of the head elf, this one is not for kids to watch. There was the glock commercials too, remember what he said at the end of one of them.It was somebody picked the wrong girl
Gunny: *Salutes* "Yes sir!" *Starts jogging up the stairs to heaven and comes across marines walking on the way up* "GET YOUR ASSES MOVING! DO NOT KEEP OUR LORD WAITING!"
Old devil dogs never die, they just keep defendin' the heavens! requiescat in pace Gunny. You were my first taste of what a Staff Sergeant would be like. You got me through high school with your funny insults, jokes, and inspirational quotes.
funny thing is when he left the service, he wasn't a gunnery sargeant, but he'd played one in Full Metal Jacket. FMJ gave such a good amount of PR to the Marines they actually recalled him into service just to promote him to the rank of Gunnery Sargeant... and he was a soldier any serviceman, regardless of country, would have been happy to salute or talk to. The Gunny was a singular individual. he will be missed.
I’m so lost for words right now. Our phenomenal actor and favorite american hero r. lee ermey passed away yesterday morning due to complications of pneumonia. We’re all extremely sorry for his loss and his family. He doesn’t deserve to be taken away from us like that. I’ve always been a huge longtime fan of him and absolutely connected to him the most. We all connected to him the most. Every favorite celebrity that we all care about and connected with always dies. Death is never the answer. Dying is the scariest thing. We’re all scared of dying. Including me. I’ve always been extremely scared of dying. And there’s nothing wrong with that. Life is too short. That’s how it is in life. We born, we live, we die. We wanna live right and do outstanding things and have a great life and having a fantastic future before we die. When we see someone like R. Lee Ermey, that’s a true hero. A true patriot. A true human being that we can have faith in. Someone that we can trust. Someone that we can look to. Someone that we can respect. Someone that we can appreciate. Someone that we can believe. Someone that we can have faith in. The first movie I saw him in was full metal jacket. He was super phenomenal. And after that, I’ve absolutely became a true big fan of him since. Because he’s the reason why I got into military films in the first place. Saving private ryan was one of them. A film that I would call a true masterpiece and phenomenal. It had everything about that film. Brotherhood, legacy, honor, heart, great character development, redemption, war, history, motivation, dedication, surviving, justice and passion. Everything. It was memorable and great. All of us connected to him the most. He was a awesome guy. He was amazing, kind, nice, humble, independent, funny, serious, cool, professional and genuine. Even he was great in the texas chainsaw massacre movies. The legend and the legacy of sheriff hoyt. Now, I’m not ashamed of saying this: he scared the holy crap out of me when I was very young at the time. I was scared of the guy. I remember taking the pillow and hide underneath the bed every time he came on screen. He was definitely fun to watch. As I got older, I couldn’t get enough of sheriff hoyt. What a phenomenal performance. One of the best fantastic villains on god’s green earth. Intimidating, scarier, serious, funny, evil, intelligent, pure, rage, insane, awesome, professional, twisted, memorable, outstanding, believable and dark. He was the man. He had great character development. He had strength. He had power. He had energy. He had attitude. He had honor. Every film has ever been in was believable. Amazing and believable performances from him. Like his phenomenal films: Full Metal Jacket. Dead Man Walking. Se7en The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. Purple Hearts. Mississippi Burning. Toy Soldiers. Willard. Saving Silverman. On Deadly Ground. Leaving Las Vegas. The Siege Of Firebase Gloria. Fletch Lives. Apocalypse Now. Toy Story. Toy Story 2. Toy Story 3. Man Of The House. Prefontaine. The Salton Sea. Life. Sommersby. The Boys In Company C. The list goes on and on. Today, I’m doing a movie marathon for the great legend himself. There’ll never be another gunny. Or another R. Lee Ermey. He’ll always be our favorite actor and always be our fantastic memorable sergeant. Rest in peace, gunny. We salute you, R. Lee Ermey. Legends never die. Remember the fallen. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
😥gunny. 😢we will miss you. Condolences to the family. He was Great person, Awsome personality, Really knew how to get people motivated. Grew up hearing him as a child and even better as a adult.Never got to meet him in person , wished I did. Semper fi , ❤ carry on. 😭
RIP Gunny. Thank you for your service, your spirit, your humour and your insight. What a fabulous example you gave to us all about duty, service and honour.
watching this, and hearing that Lee Ermey died put a sadness in my heart. I am Logan Biggs, and I am from R Lee Ermey's home town Emporia KS. he will always be remembered to me and all my Emporian brothers and sisters.
Ermey was a legend. I'll never forget his historic voice or how much he impacted my life with his performances over the years. Rest in peace, Sargent. It was an honor, sir.
I love how all of the time he is a character of either significance or control of the main characters. And mostly a drill sergeant just like his career. Rest in peace 🌹😢
Well done Sergeant, you've successfully completed your mission, giving comedy to all ages and different generations. Well done Sergeant, well done indeed.
Everyone is dropping like flies. First Barbara Bush, then Bruno Sammartino, and now this? April is a terrible month. RIP to the only guy who was able to do whatever he wanted in a Stanley Kubrick film.
HarmonySword I'm just glad that the ones dying are at the age where it's just natural, unlike people like Carrie Fisher (60), Ralphie May (45) and Joan Laurer (WWF'S Chyna, 46). Still though, very very sad.
Rest In Peace Gunny. Thank you for being such a great person and for your service in the military. Second thank you for your acting career, you were one of a kind and will be greatly missed. Semper Fi. 🇺🇸
Fun fact, in Recess: School's Out, Colonel O'Malley was unseen only on a phone because T.J. and friends secretly voice over with a microphone pretending to be out of.
Rest in piece sir. I remember watching most of these. Full Metal Jacket was awesome. Also I remember the Batman episode too. But he was the Sarge from Toy Story! That is so cool! All those cartoons he voiced in...takes me back when I was a kid.
Was kind of nice knowing there are military men, particularly someone who had been previously involved in training those military men, that were intelligent and imaginative enough to support so many different types of arts. Wow, there’s been quite the deaths this year of people known for their voice acting roles. I mean April last year we sadly lost Don Rickles, April this year we lost R Lee Ermey, thankfully we can expect Don Rickles to be succeeded in the next year by someone seeing how the Toy Story Franchise is set at now.
I first met Ermy when I was a kid watching Mail Call day and night on the History Channel. I met him again across the shows and cartoons, always bringing a smile to my face. I last saw him in Locked and Loaded. TAPS IN THE BACKGROUND INTENSIFY

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh another deceased toy story actor first Jim varney than don rickles bud luckey and now R Lee ermey
He was a sergeant in every tv show/movie incredible!!
Was kind of nice knowing there are military men, particularly someone who had been previously involved in training those military men, that were intelligent and imaginative enough to support so many different types of arts. I feel like nearly all of the military individuals I meet are such braindead, truck driving dimwitted automatons. He always reminded me there are exceptions. RIP Mr. Ermey.
Jari Most of the ones I've met have been proven to be calculated individuals, regardless of branch, they can hold damn good conversations, put in serious work when required, and posses a slightly higher level of intelligence than most people do that live in my county. For the most part, their intelligence shines most in spotting lies, creating a plan and executing it, solving issues of many kind. There are some dumb ones, but most I've met have been very smart human beings.

Part of the beauty of the military is how diverse it is. You can have a guy who casually saturs a motherbord for fun and a guy who took the ASVAB 6 times over just to get a score high enough to just join in the same bunk.
@Jari:
Hm, that's not been my experience. Besides, short of a Draft, stupid people are not qualified to join the armed-forces, IIRC.
I can't tell if you're serious or not. If you are, you first have to define "stupid". Getting into the armed forces is by no means difficult. Someone with a low I.Q. could easily get in. The ASVAB (ridiculously easy test) isn't required for enlistment, and I wouldn't call someone that simply has their GED or high school diploma "intelligent".
Wow. Truly impressive. Thanks for proving my point.
He will be greatly missed...he was one hell of an actor/ voice actor....We'll see you again one day Gunny.....take care buddy
Now we need a Replacement for sarge in toy story 4
Melisa Cangele Mystery it is right now as to if R Lee Ermey was able to record dialogue for Sarge in KHIII before his death. If not then I don’t think whoever is voicing him will be Jim Cummings.
No matter what, I will always find that Full Metal Jacket scene funny. Thank you for making me laugh all these times and rest in peace mate. 🌹🙏😢
I pick Jim Cummings as sarge in toy story 4
Melisa Cangele he deserves more work
Rest In Peace Gunny. You will be missed. Thank you for your service to our country.
NOW SHOW ME YOUR CRYING FACE!
He was a good Marine, and a great actor. Rest In Peace Sergeant, you’ve earned it.
