When you replaced the dash , if the VIN plate had to be changed from your old dash, You need to check with your State DOT/Tag office to make sure it is done correctly! Back in 1985 I changed out a 1973 Ram dash to a 1984 Ram Instrument panel , Dash & HVAC , spliced wiring and AC hoses. It all worked great, around a year later I sold the truck. Then 6 months later the state police contacted me , they had stopped the new owner , the truck had the 1984 dash was to have a VIN plate on it, but the truck was titled as a 1973 truck which it was. Long story short I had to come up with all the receipts for all the parts I had changed out and the State issued a new State VIN plate for it with special rivets! Just wanted to to let you know If you had to do any thing with the VIN plate. If you would ever get stopped for some reason and they ran the VIN. Stay safe, Allen C.
You probably have an exhaust leak up close to the motor. That's typical after a motor swap. I'm debating swapping a 5.7 hemi into my 5.9 ram 1500. This 5.9 doesnt have the power I was hoping for. Does anyone here know if the 5.7 will work without changing plugs on the harness

Just out of curiosity did you have a constant tail light after the swap, I just got my swap done in my 04 and I have a constant tail lights with the ignition on
+aj lopez had to change both harness and the wiper motor other then that it drop right in without any mod to it an also take the piece out that does the cruise control that run off the vac and plug the line because the hemi is electronic
+justin carter I have researched a lot on this. I really want to do a Hemi swap cause the 4.7 really isn't cutting it anymore. How long did this all take?

Just the pcm,engine harness if you already got the grey key then you don't need the dash harness but you'll need the key and key switch unless you have a tuner to reflash for your key the motor itself just drops in
yes it was easy mine didnt have the holes to mount it so the headliner holding very nice make sure you have the plug if not then you need all the headlight to the dash wiring from a truck that had it and the computer

Hudboys Late model 4.7L makes far more HP than the first gen 3.7/4.7 and is far more reliable than the 5.7L..
