If you do a wash - which is what that's called - you should thin the oil to the consistency of ink. It will then get into the deeper details as well and it doesn't stain the underlying paint as much. You can get a higher contrast range on your model, that way. ;-)
I've got all 3 of the Bumblebee movie DLX releases so far. I did a bit of shuffling, and when I handled these to re-pose them, in fact everytime I touch these, it reminds me how amazing these are. These are truly worth every penny. How they managed to properly weather each and every one that goes out to customers, I don't know how they do it in terms of production. One thing I very much appreaciate from ThreeZero is that, although the DLX is smaller than their premium scale, the quality is exactly the same. Sure the premium scale has a few additional accessories, but as far as the base figure goes, you will not feel shortchanged by getting the smaller version. It just depends on your budge and space. Soundwave incoming very soon. Can't wait!
There are unofficial/third party options available of transforming versions of Bee, Blitz and Prime with just about the same amount of detail that these awesome figures have. All one has to do is search the site Norm mentioned at the start.
5:49 Ahh cool, my favorite airplane! Although it doesn't transform, but it's cool to know that they actually had an F-4 Phantom Transformer. Together with Side Swipe (the Countach) that would be my dream team. Although Soundwave is actually my favorite Transformer. If only there was a Hind or SuperCobra heli Transformer, or.. a Zeppelin haha
What's with all the strange comments on Norm videos as of late? Bunch of generic "Awesome video" "Great channel!" "Love the video" comments by people who clearly didn't watch the video. 👀 *Plays X-files music*
If anyone has seen a jet up close, they are supremely dirty. Dirty in the sense that there's what i call "use battle scarring". Lines of oil, leaking fuel, paint that's chipped off and flaking. Dents, dings, bent panels, screws that need to be replaced on the next rotation, scratches from it being big and cumbersome to move on the ground etc. IE, the smaller and petitely grimmy a jet fighter/plane is, the better it looks.
I was pretty jazzed to see transformers back on the shelves at my local wal Mart. If it weren't for the corona I'd have taken more time to look at them.
Norm, I know you aren’t in the studio, the lighting (and the back of your head) made it a little tough to see your awesome work. Thanks and keep the videos coming!
Looking really good after weathering, I mainly use Tamiya panel line accent color to do weathering but oil paint looks like another option, good job Norm! This makes me wanna start building Gundams!
Norm, I love your content, I am getting back into modelling after 20 yrs and this was a great tutorial, can you do something on weathering powders. Thanks again

I have the Optimus; it’s incredible. Really love the weathering videos. I wish I was more competent in painting. I’m kind of terrified to “practice” on a $150+ figure. P.S. Still really bugs me that “Blitwing” got Starscream’s primary colors. How did the director do so much right with mechanical G1 characters but get it so wrong with Blitzing?
@Tested team could you do a run of product review vids of which you did a few years ago to see how they are holding up, performing ornot as good as they hhad lead us to belive (ie: Norms laser in the background), some of the electrical goods/tools I have been shopping for to put in my workshop....Thanks guys keep up the good work & stay safe.
Depends on the thinner, I'd be super careful. Since he is using Oils, I feel like Mineral Spirits is probably safe. I wouldn't use Lacquer/Acrylic/Enamel thinner probably :p
@@MerrittFilban Thanks for clarifying. Norm failed to mention this. I'm not accustomed with oils so to me that sounded like a red flag. Honestly I would practice on a cheaper collectible instead. Or maybe he's had enough practice to tackle this masterpiece.
@@BLAZE084 I have miniatures matt-varnished decades ago... They look as they did in the day. But I would not put them where the sun can hit them. For inking, a satin or gloss acrylic varnish will do the trick just fine.
I've been kitbashing for a bit, and as soon as I saw this figure I wanted one to dissect it for mechanical gribblies. Then I saw the PRICE. I need, NEED mind you, the mechanical detail bits I see here, but I don't $200 need them, if that makes sense.
Well Im disappointed. I thought this was sneak peak at the Studio Series Ramjet, not the three zero one =/. Yes, Ramjet. Movie might call him Blitzwing, but even though hes missing the conehead hes Ramjet. No tank mode and far too sane to be Blitzwing.

Weird how I'm on a Transformers binge and this gets posted...
🤔
Earthrise is awesome.
Well, now I need these 3 featured figures and I want to weather them all....
That was awesome! Very inspiring to watch! Thanks for doing this, Norm!
I did this to my basic bumblebee! makes it look so much better
You done a great job on the weathering! It’s very easy to go completely over the top
Not a fan of transformers, but I really like and appreciate the detail and attention payed to these models. Really cool project 👍

Wow great work!
There is an entire section over on the TFW2005 boars dedicated to radicon. Radicon meaning after factory customization to a figure or model.
Very good work
Thank you for sharing this, Norm, I definitely would love to see more of these videos buddy!!! James, Ontario, Canada

Agreed on the lighting--great for dramatic effect/posing, terrible for demonstrating the work you've just done for it. But incredible job nonetheless!
Yo thats really nice man!
I saw Transformers, and in my mind I heard the almighty cry of ROLL OUT!!!

WOO Gundam. Just finished the MG Strike freedom burst mode.

i see this guy like Doublelift in LOL
Dunno how I feel about applying my own paint to a collectible. But it does look nice, I must say.
Is this Oil paint to be mixed with paint thinner... just asking
I dont think this needs anymore paint to it it looks good as its own

Why not to use miniature quickshades/washes? Wouldn't be it easier?
Won’t the paint thinner also dissolve the topcoat from the manufacturer therefore compromising the paint job?

im dying for one, but to bad I'm still not yet that rich
Love the channel!!
Didn’t watch ever single second but still a good video....... >> video scrolling on >>
I love movie Blitzwing's design. But I wont get this, istead the studio series one. Price, space, and the figures I already have are all factors.
Interessting. Some people commenting how awesome this video is 8 minutes after it is uploaded.
But the video is 15 minutes long.... :D
You can speed up the playback of youtube videos (that isn't what is going on but it would fit your statement)

I saw the Undead Cosmonaught and ALL I could think of was"Hey, Who turned out the lights?" LoL Anyone guesses what tv show that's from?
Dr. Who - I forget the episode title, but it turned out the guy was dead and the suit was just keeping a fading part of his memory active temporarily.

Does it transform
No.
