Discovered ranunculus accidentally last spring at Lowe’s and I love them…knew nothing about them so I did not save the corms…might still be under the wet snow…your video was so helpful and at my level!
This was very useful. I bought several packs and planted in early spring. However, we have unseasonably warm weather this week so I hope it doesn’t adversely affect it. It is now May and no blooms yet just greens. At least now I know the dried out corms are normal. I have mine in self watering containers so I only need to water a few times monthly. I didn’t know I should save corms to plant in October, but now I know. I like the drawer you are labeling and saving all the corms and seeds in. This is a good idea too.

I’m not sure they will work in my climate though, we can get lows in the teens into March and then every now and then up to the 80’s and 90’s in April and May. High desert living can be wonky. But I sure would like to try, they’re such beautiful flower!!

I just came across your videos and website early this year and am so grateful to find you! Excellent video, Thank you so much. I grew a few this season in one of my backyard planter areas, but am thinking I'd like to try growing in pots next fall so I can bring out to the front yard too add a big splash of beauty, and then tuck the pots away while waiting for foilage to turn brown before removing corms. How deep should the soil be including the 2" for corm placement?
Aim for a depth of 12-18 inches for the soil.
I love all of your videos. I live in Greece and we have really high temperatures in the Summer like 40-42 oC. I get inspired by your videos! Just a thought after ranunculus video. Do Dahlias also get through the hot sun in the summer? I'd would be really helpfull if you could create a video on Dahlias!!!

For most "frosty" countries the blooms of September are the ones, not that much in August. But for us in the hotter climates, I think we'll be surprised in October or even November!
We had our first rains in the 8th of December here in Greece last year...
So... let's be delighted by our first experiment with the Dahlias!

Great video! Two questions
1. Can you replant the spring corm that flowered in the fall or do you need to do different corms in the fall and wait a year to replant the spring ones.
2. How do these propagate? Only by seed? Or do the corms grow new baby corms?
Yes, you can replant them in the fall and I've heard you can also grow from seed. The plants do form new corms each season as the plants die back.

My guess would be in the fall, but if you have some corms you could give it a try and see.
My acorms will sprout but then the tips of the leaves will dry out and turn brown and then it seemingly stops growing. ☹️ how do I fix that? What is causing it?

I live in the Deep South and there is no consistent cool dry place outside to store bulbs. Inside the house the temperature is between upper 60's and low 70's year round. So would a refrigerator work as a storage place for corms? If not, what would work?
The fridge is a good option.
I live in Montana and just received my corms..and I am really excited and kinda glad the weather is still cold ( so I can plant my corms) but I am running out of time..can I soak for a few hours and plant them? With success?
Check with local growers, I'm not sure about planting dates for your area.
Hello . I just pick up this bulbs at Costco. I never heard or see this plants before but it’s look so pretty. I am in Houston I think 9 or 10. What are suggestions. Grow in ground or pots better. It warm up pretty fast . I know a cool crops . Don’t like the heat. Hope it will grow pretty like the pictures.

Hi Angela! I just got mine in the ground and I'm wondering about watering. You say give them a good water and then don't water again until sprouts show, does that mean it's ok if the soil dries up in between planting and sprouting? Or should we keep soil moist but not drenched?
If the soil dries out you can water - typically as temperatures cool the soil takes longer to dry out. So check it before watering. Moist but not drenched is a good idea.

Regarding watering after planting those corms, if I have them in pots, should I keep the potting mix moist by watering occasionally until they sprout.. or just leave it alone as suggested?

Yes, I have mixed results from saving the corms.
What happens if corms are left in the ground? Rats dug up most of my corms after I planted them this year and I wonder if they would leave existing ones alone. Thank you!
It depends on where you live. Here in the low desert it gets too hot and they burn up. Other areas can leave them in the ground through the summer.

You can try leaving them in the ground, depending on where you live. I haven't had great luck with that here in Arizona.

Hi, I’m in zone 9a Las Vegas Nv. If I leave my Ranunculus in the ground do you believe they will come back? Or is it a must to remove?
So far none of mine that I've left in the ground have re-grown. I'm experimenting with some and leaving them in again this year, so we will see. In several climates, yes you can leave the corms in place.

Do 80-85 degree day time temperature is ok for them? My all bulbs has sprouted but now leaves are dropping as I started to put them in direct sunlight
Mine have been growing well in those temps. Make sure you have good quality soil and it is deep enough (12-18 inches)

I bought Ranunculus seeds off Amazon. When should I plant them? I'm in zone 10a and it's mid October 2022 right now. Did I get scammed? Do I have to have those roots instead?
I haven’t grown from seed, but it doesn’t mean you can’t. I’m not sure

Yes.
I planted three plants close together. Will that make a difference.
It will probably be beautiful with lots of blooms. You may have issues with powdery mildew if the leaves get very crowded.

Yes, let them die back and then harvest the corms or leave them in the ground and in most climates they will come back. Our summers get so hot that they don't often return here in Arizona, so you need to pull them up.

I've ordered corms several times from reputable companies and I've been so disappointed I never wanted to try again. They were expensive but small and always NOT the colors I ordered - and some didn't come up. I got a credit from Eden Brothers for the wrong color and then they sent the wrong color again! Can you recommend any good suppliers who sell decent sized corms and have good customer relations?😂
