I grow them here in south east asia, Sabah, Malaysia.. Yes, they do come back every year..they became perennial here.. with full tropical climate.. hot & wet all year long..partial shade only..
oh my god this is first time someone from Malaysia I found on ranunculus vid! thank you! I wanted to plant them this year and kinda worry if they wont bloom. I wanna ask, they need full sun right? So when I first planted them, should I put them under full sun or under the shade?

Back again. I love ranunculus, I think they are my number one favorite. They are gorgeous and I love your footage of them, so sometimes when I need to look at pretty things, I come back to this video! I have some this year thanks to your instructions
Hi. I live in the north of England. I planted about 100 ranunculus early this year and did everything the grower recommended. A few blooms came up and then we had an especially wet and windy summer. Apart from a few most turned yellow. I then planted them in pots. I got lots of lush greenery but no flowers yet. We are now into October and think it’s to late for this year. I was really disappointed but will try again next year. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed looking at how they should grow.
I'm growing ranunculus this year, but we're still in the 60-70's during the day and low 40's at night, so I'm hoping that they're going to bloom before it gets too hot!
Most spring planted ranunculus will still bloom, but the flowers may be a little smaller than normal. It really just depends on the weather. Good luck!
Thank you Tonya, just found this post and it was very helpful. I bought some corms cheaply yesterday they looked so dried up that I almost threw them out but thought I'd give it a go as only spent £2:98 for 20 (bargain store). anyway after soaking overnight they plumped up but as the package had no instructions I went in search and found your video.. short and sweet yet informative. Best wishes Shirley
This is so timely! Thank you. I'm in zone 5 and my Ronunculas are currently sprouting in the trays. I'll be planting them out this weekend. Your flowers are always spectacular!
This will be my first year to order corms and start them in late winter. We are a zone 8b BUT had 25 degree nights a bit this past winter. That makes me nervous to put a bunch of these out! However, you indicate they might be fine as long as some frost protection is offered on cold nights? I may try both methods, planting a few in the ground in late fall and then starting some in trays in January or February and pre sprouting. I fell in love with them after buying at a local store this spring. Your video is GREAT--the best one on ranunculus I have seen yet. Do you then wait for them to die down before digging and storing and what do you like to store them in?
I love Ranunculus! So beautiful! I, too, grow my flowers to give away. I love to share the joy that flowers bring. Anyway, this year I'm trying fall planting in zone 7a. 🤞 Only my second time trying to grow them. Thanks for all the tips!
I live in Memphis - zone 8a - so fairly close to your zone. Yours is the first video that seems to compare as far as seasons are concerned! I do have a 3 season porch (no heat or AC, but enclosed) and I'm tempted to treat this as a "greenhouse" and pre-sprout there, but am unsure as to when to transplant outdoors. We have such a short spring.... Can almost always get snow in mid Feb, and then the heat cranks up in mid-May. So, when to transplant outside?? or just let them be indoor plants in the porch full time? So excited to try this, but just not sure which is the best option. Thanks!
Well done! Thank you for all the inspiration. Wish you could see the beautiful flowers I’ve grown this year. They’re successful, and so beautiful in part because of all of the information you share so freely. Thank you!

I just bought a heap load of ranunculus corms (the deal was too good to pass up) and I’m so excited! I’m in zone 6a, so I’m going to keep them over the winter and plant in the spring. Thanks for the details! I feel more prepared now after watching this!
I am also in Kentucky and want to plant these for the first time. Can i plant these in a tray right now and overwinter in the garage like I do all of my tulip bulbs and then just set out in the spring in the tray? I have no idea how to start these! I dont want to put in the ground. Id rather use a pot or a tray that I can just sit outside in the spring? Any advice? Thank you for the video and for donating your flowers. What a selfless thing to do 🌸
Thank you so much, Tanya. I love your ranuculas video, so informative !! I have grown them 2 years in a row, and this year, I started to late last year and they bloomed just when it started getting warmer, so they didn't last very long , this year I ordered corms in late December and soaked for 3-4 hrs and they sprouted in my greenhouse under shelf on cool floor so it's dark, and they have sprouted beautiful green leaves but I see no buds as of yet. I am in Washington State zone 8 b and its April 4 th, it's been raining and 48-60 *and have been outside for about 3 weeks now and they are in single 5" pots , it's been about 5 months since I started these, do they need Sun? Should I put them back in the greenhouseunder growlights being its so wet and grey outside will this help , any suggestions are so appreciated. I hope you have a great day 😊 Thanks again,Karrlie
2 questions: where do you get your forms from usually? And do you harvest the corms and save for next year ? Is there a video for that? I’ve been following your channel for a while and you insprired me to try corms again this year. Now, I’m in love!!! Can’t believe I’ve been without them this long. Thank you
In the past, I've ordered corms from Floret and a few other independent farms. I don't save the corms, but definitely want to try in the future. Thanks so much for watching! 🌱
Could you help me locate the info on where you purchase your corms and your favorite varieties. I can't seem to find it although someone said you posted it. Thanks so much.
Hi I just found your channel and love this video. But would so so appreciate some guidance on what I think the problem is, watering! I have my ranunculus in pots in miracle grow soil and I do aerate it. I have them in a sunny south facing window with grow lights on them as well and bring them outside weather permitted during the day. Our weather is so unpredictable here in Michigan. It was 90 multiple days last week and 30 multiple days this week! Anyways, I have only been watering when the first inch or so of the soup seems dry but I don't water very deep just a few seconds on a water an. I have lost multiple plants to rot when I pull them the corm is mush, molding, roots are brown etc so I began watering a bit less. Most stems seem very weak! I cut them down and they grow back Strong and wider but I'm not sure how much this shocks plants? Just wondering if there's anything specific I could change and potentially have some flowers this season. I'm worried haha! It's my first season.
Hi, I live in 7b as well! I am receiving ranunculus corms this week February 12, 2023. Should I hold onto these corms and plant in the Fall of 2023 instead of this Spring? Thank you.
Great video! Super helpful this is my first year of doing a flower garden and I love this flower I’m in 7B just got them preplanted about a week ago can’t wait to see how it goes . New subscriber here!!!❤
Thank you for all the wonderful information you share with us. My ranunculus are done blooming, 9b, died back, pulled and in a paper bag in my closet. Time will tell if I can successfully get them to bloom again next year. I know I can keep them in the ground in my zone but with all the other flowers I grow I’m afraid they will rot due to daily watering all summer. I will be purchasing more as well.
I'm just now finally seeing some buds. Warming up here in Maryland so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I bought some Italian Ranunculus and they aren't doing well at all, hoping they'll be a nice surprise next spring. Don't ask me the difference, they had me at Italian.
Do you have irrigation under the landscape fabric? I'm trying to figure out if I should be putting drip irrigation down under the fabric when I plant them this month. I have seen some people put it on top, but I am not sure if that works as well.
@@charleneskalmusky5509 No, I kept them inside until the weather was better. They've gone overnight with lows around 39, but nothing worse than that. The videos I've watched says they're fairly cold tolerant which seems to be true.
I love these flowers, but until now haven’t found a source for them in my area. Just found them from Eden Brothers in NC. I’m so nervous about planting them. I don’t have much of a green thumb…
June 8. I just ordered 30 rannuculus but realize I can plant them now. Where do I put these till I plant I don't have hoop house so I think I should wait till spring to plant them. Where do I store them. Where is good place to order from
Do you open your plastic during the day when it’s sunny? Can you kill them if you have to go away and can’t open the plastic? I’m in Zone 6B. Thank you so much for your channel. I am a subscriber and donate monthly because you help me so much with your postings.
This was gold. A rare and incredible look at this gorgeous flower and the growing process and most important- the results! Loved it. Can you hold spring corms till fall to plant? Will they last?
First, I wanna say just how informative this video is! I loved watching progress of these flowers! I’m getting married in March in Plant city Florida and I’m trying to grow my own ranunculus flowers. If I were to plant them before October around august or September do you think they will be blooming by the beginning of March?
How do you keep the soil damp over the two weeks? Do you just spray it? I feel like my potting mix keeps drying out and I’m only dampening the top of the soil but the bottom is still dry. I pulled out a few corms and there is some white fuzziness between the “bananas” lol. I’m assuming that’s mold? Not sure what to do at this point :/ I’m in 7b. Should I just put them in the soil? Water once and Hope they sprout?
So it sounds like saving corms to replant is not easy? I'm trying to figure out what if anything I should do with my corms when they're done blooming. I think they actually reproduce so one corm turns into many by the end of the season. Not sure the best way to dry and store them though.
If I had the room, I would love to just leave them in the ground. I'm not even sure it would be necessary to lift and store them until fall again. Thanks so much for watching! :)
Hi Tonya! I'm so in love with these flowers. I'm in zone 8b, pnw and don't have space for a hoop house nor a yard. Can I grow these indoors in containers until past frost? I'm worried if my indoor temps would be too warm
Hi there, I live in the pacific NW zone 8b and I directly sowed my corms into a raised garden bed, full sun area and they overwintered without any protection. They bloomed so beautifully this year! I just make sure it doesn’t get watered during the summer months and come fall they will pop up again.
I'm trying to decide if the cost for ranunculus is one of those pandemic garden shortage things or if they're always this expensive. Is about $1 a corm the norm?
In my experience depending on the variety, they range from $.75 to $3.50 for some of the super fancy varieties! It has gone up a little since the pandemic but that's everything...!
How many did you plant in your tunnel? I am in the same zone 6b/7a. Do you think mid November is too late to over winter? I will be planting late this fall.
Thank you! I decided to grow everything from seed/corm/bulb this year and was already thinking I’d bitten off more than I could chew😅 My first ever ranunculus have just started sprouting after only 3 days! Soaked, no aeration. Also planted about 50 Sweet Pea which I didn’t soak or file or snip the outside 🤭 Am I gonna get arrested by the horticulture police?!!😆😆😅
I'm not sure. I imagine waiting would be the best choice until spring. They can be planted out pretty early though, just as long as they have been presprouted and chance of severe freezes have passed. Good luck! 🌱🌱🌱
@@TONYAwiththeflowers I couldn’t leave them in the soil to winter over in Zone 5,could I? I’m on the Mid-coast of Maine. It gets REALLY cold here in the winter…frequently below zero
Did you have a video with all the varieties you grew this year? Where do you buy your ranunculus from? I have yet to master growing them but I’m going to keep trying. I’m in zone 8 so I should be able to leave them in the ground. Thanks
Hi , Love your video. Just a quick question: How often do you need to water the seed tray? and do we need to water them in the winter ? ( I am in north TX - zone 8A) Thank you
I only water the trays if they look like they're starting to dry out. They need to be moist, but if they're too wet, they might rot. Once transplanted into the ground, I never water them in the winter - especially with freezing temperatures. Since your zone is warmer, it may be necessary if things get exceptionally dry. Hope that helps!
How deep in the ground do you put the ranunculus? This is my first time growing them and and I'm seeking information could you please help? Also where is the best place to order the corns? Could you please give me a few of your suggestions? You have the most beautiful flowers. The addition to my garden would be just lovely.
I usually bury them to crown level when I transplant. I was lucky to find some corms locally this year, floret is also a good source. Thanks for watching! :)
@@TONYAwiththeflowers thank you so much for the help. Now I believe that I can grow these and I really appreciate the knowledge that you have given to us.
I just bought some but I live in zone 10a. It’s already in the nineties every day. Is there a way to keep them like maybe in my refrigerator until fall? They say they are perennial for my zone but if the don’t like hot weather I don’t see how they will live here. I don’t know what to do with the corns that just came in the mail today.
I definitely wouldn't refrigerate them. The best bet may be storing them in a cool, dry place until they can be planted when the weather cools down in the fall. Good luck!
Tonya, I think you covered everything but I'm curious how many total corms you grew this year & at what spacing!I want to invest in a lot of them next year & have beautiful rows like yours but don't want to over buy if I don't have to lol
Never seen an aquarium bubbler in the soil 😂 why would that be required. I feel like people try crazy things and have success and contribute it to their techniques when I reality that plant would’ve grown either way. It’s like baseball payers wearing the same socks 😂😂😂

Love, ❤️, 💕 your flowers!!
Can a person dig up and reuse the corms? I am zone 2/3 so they would never survive outside but would love to store them for the next spring.
Beutyful Simple Flower 🙏 👍
i really miss your videos!!
So I pre-sprouted successfully and transplanted them successfully and they look ok but....no buds at all yet😐. Any suggestions? ZONE 6A
Same here, I’m in zone 6B. I planted them out a long time ago.
I'm 5b and no blooms either! I'm getting stressed that it'll get too hot before they bud!
They'll likely still bloom. The first time I planted them, I did so in spring. They didn't bloom until early June! Good luck! :)
My ranuncles are about 15cm high..some stems are hanging on the ground. Do I need to pinch them?
Do you sell roots?
You do such an amazing job growing. Thank you
What type or variety of ranunculus you planted? They are huge and beautiful! Great work.
I'll have to keep this video in mind for the fall. :)
Thanks!😊
Beautiful!
Do you pinch ranunculus plants?
Do they spread?
When should you harvest them? Do you wait until they’re fully open or harvest before that? Thank you for an informative video!
Ideally, I should pick them while the bud is still pretty tightly closed. I'll admit I like to wait and enjoy them in the garden, too! LOL!
So gorgeous!!
Sooo beautiful! I can not grow them, I rot them out every time.
So I missed my window to get my ranunculus corms sprouted, can I just keep them and wait for the fall? I’m not sure how long the store inside.
I'm not sure. I imagine waiting would be the best choice until spring. They can be planted out pretty early though, just as long as they have been presprouted and chance of severe freezes have passed. Good luck! 🌱🌱🌱
Do you retrieve your corms (dry and save them) when they are finished flowering? Thankyou in advance from North Idaho zone 6a 💚🌻🌿
I don't. Ideally, I would like to just leave them in the ground. Maybe in the future when I have more space! Thanks so much for watching! :)
@@TONYAwiththeflowers I couldn’t leave them in the soil to winter over in Zone 5,could I? I’m on the Mid-coast of Maine. It gets REALLY cold here in the winter…frequently below zero
Hi, great video! When they start blooming, will they flower more if you cut them? Thanks!
My ranunculus usually start blooming in the first week of April. And yes, each plant will produce multiple flowers. Thanks for watching!
Where do buy them
Did you have a video with all the varieties you grew this year? Where do you buy your ranunculus from? I have yet to master growing them but I’m going to keep trying. I’m in zone 8 so I should be able to leave them in the ground. Thanks
Yeah she did a tour, their is a link in the information card to it.
Hello!! Thank you for this video. Who or where is your best source of ranunculus corms?
I use the Facebook group "wholesale for small growers"
Hi , Love your video. Just a quick question: How often do you need to water the seed tray? and do we need to water them in the winter ? ( I am in north TX - zone 8A) Thank you
I only water the trays if they look like they're starting to dry out. They need to be moist, but if they're too wet, they might rot. Once transplanted into the ground, I never water them in the winter - especially with freezing temperatures. Since your zone is warmer, it may be necessary if things get exceptionally dry. Hope that helps!
Great video
Good luck!
Beautiful. Thank you
Tonya, I think you covered everything but I'm curious how many total corms you grew this year & at what spacing!I want to invest in a lot of them next year & have beautiful rows like yours but don't want to over buy if I don't have to lol
I grew about 500 in total, at a 3 inch spacing. Thanks so much for watching! :)
@@TONYAwiththeflowers wow! I would have thought it was a lot more!
Beautiful!! Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching! 🌱🌱🌱
What do you put down to amend your soil?
Finished compost from my compost pile. Thanks so much for watching! :)
Thank you for the information!
Ranunculus could be renamed the Eye Candy flower and I don't think anyone would disagree
I didn't even soak my corms, ha
Never seen an aquarium bubbler in the soil 😂 why would that be required. I feel like people try crazy things and have success and contribute it to their techniques when I reality that plant would’ve grown either way. It’s like baseball payers wearing the same socks 😂😂😂
Yes! 🤣
