I remember this with nostalgia.... Jus recently I bumped into Ojwang's grave at Langata cemetery. May he rest in peace and all other old school comedians 😭😭😭
I just shed a nostalgic tear. This was the height of our Saturday evening entertainment. Alafu it coincides with the one Saturday of the month chapo n ndengu was being made.👏
The quality of the acting is superior to what we have these days in Kenya. The chemistry and the originality of those actors is fantastic.
Today is my happiest day 19/05/2024 watching vitimbi that made our home warm in 80s. My the souls of those who went ahead rest in peace .
I didn’t know this show was around in 1979. I was born in 84 and was watching it while growing up in the 90’s. Remember the other show Vioja Mahakamani? lol
We also had vituko ya akina mzee Mombasa, tahamaki, mahoka etc. I miss the 90s

Kids used to come home just to watch this on our black and white greatwall with low volume,my father was fearing thieves might realize we have a TV and break in..Life is funny now I just watched it 2018 on my smartphone...

I believe this is one of the earliest episodes of Vitimbi comedy. The creativity and talent of the characters are incomparable. Thumbs up to Kenyan🇰🇪 entertainment industry.

its a pity that VOK and KBC failed to digitize such quality footage and sadly I heard much was damaged due to poor storage.. A lot of valuable archive news footage has been lost forever

I remember these comedians came to the KNLS Nairobi library sometime in the 80s one Saturday afternoon to put on a free show for us. They had a skit about mandazi which made us laugh so hard. I miss my innocent carefree childhood. Saturday evenings watching Vitimbi made my weekend complete

Its 2022 and I am still enjoying watching this comedy with a good laugh just as I did when I was young. The acting those days was just too good and miss those days. May the ones who are not with us, rest in peace.

Actually Anyong'a (Othorong'ong'o) hailed from Makongeni but went to primary school at the nearby St. John's (Kaloleni) where John Ngumi of Kenya Pipeline went to school also.

I went to St. John's primary school in Kaloleni, Nairobi with Othorong'ong'o (his real name was Anyong'a). He was quite a talented footballer for real but was cut from the school team because all his moves were so hilarious that made us (his teammates) die with laughter. R.I.P. Anyong'a.

Indeed this is the end of an great era. We all were glued to Great wall at village tea kiosks until 9 p.m. Pioneers comedians who laid a strong foundation that the young comedians are enjoying.
As nation we have failed to establish a tradition of honoring our heroes and heroines particularly when they are alive. It is indeed a shame however all is not lost we still can. I ask all artists to be united.
