I do that... Been doing it since childhood... Learned from my grandparents. Oh and what i do is i use the spoon to scoop the whole thing out and it turns to a cup shape, i keep it in a mini glass shaped silicone ice molds, throw in some berries and bananas and any kind of flavored milk, or you could even use fruit milkshake but blend some heavy cream with the flavored milk or milkshake to make it creamy, freeze it up and then put it in cup and eat it like an ice cream.

I do it simplistic and cleaner using raiser sharp knife slit papaya lengthwise against the seed. New half slice to skin and it pulls easily from the skin.
