When I took my overlock machine in for service, (just the head, you understand, not the whole bench), they looked up the serial number, and said it was made between Feb. and May. 1937. It's still going strong!
I'd be interested to see a much longer video, or series of videos showing a lot more detail of each step in the process. I love seeing how things are engineered and the machines used. Fascinating!
Old machines are the best, so smooth. You could have made the video more slow I enjoyed watching but you went to fast. Made more slow vids please just to enjoy your work. Thank you. From Spain
I would watch a series of vids that took us step by step through the process explaining each step. I would also watch and enjoy an explanation of each machine how it does what it does the history of it. I would totally nerd out for hours on this guy and his process and the machines. Thank you for a glimpse into Roy's world.
Wow those are beautiful machines. I grew up in a small town tailor shop. Hanging out there was more fun than being at home alone. As a kid, I also had my fair share of hand-stitching the inside of the belt loops as my parents only owned a simple chainstitch. It took them years before they could afford a double chainstitch with coverstitch machine.
So glad you're doing that and so telling that all those wonderful machines that still sew perfectly are vintage, and I would guess the only ones up to the job. Bravo!
@@sheet-music -- I know there are many tailors and seamstresses. Not all of them have the same skill, talent and level of care for the customer. The cost is what makes it prohibitive for most people, including myself.
I found this mesmerizing for some reason. I wish the video was slower so I could see everything but man the craftsmanship is great. I would definitely buy those jeans
I just made my first pair of Jean's ever on a domestic fashion mate singer sewing machine. In total, I made 4 pairs and a pair of jogger. Worked out great but I would love to have one of those industrial sewing machines
Nice. My grandparents worked in factories, my mom was a sample maker, my dad a shipper. I worked in a clothes factory in the 70s as a utility girl going from machine to machine as needed, in New Bedford MA, I loved it. I’m sad they have gone overseas.
OK, I used to produce like this, but the Chinese or who knows whose product destroyed my production. In Croatia, I would get 12-15 euros for jeans like this and the purchase price of a denim is 4.5-7 euros. The average material consumption is 1.1 meters if is a width of 160 centimeters. This way with these machines I can produce 200 pieces per month, not to be outdone with other costs, the product is 9.5-11.3 euros per piece without any profit. As you can see, I can only work out of love for this business. because if I add 10 euros of my earnings per piece I can no longer sell at that price.Mr. Roys would be left without food here.Hello Mr. Roys.
What sewing denim jeans, How much fabric would you say in metres length it takes to makes 1 pair of jeans (Waist 42" INSEAM 36") with a width of 150 cm? Your best caluclated guess would be okay.
WTF!!!??? I've just watched over 20min video of making a pair of jeans by using typical sewing machine. But this one here absolutely blowed my mind. That is sth. Hey Roy - can I become your student? :)
I am a seamstress and have been sewing since my grandmother showed me how to thread a needle and tie a knot at around age five. I have been using a sewing machine since age eight. I started out sewing Barbie clothes from a pattern first which allowed me to learn how to follow a pattern and learn sewing techniques. I then moved on to simple garments. I have made just about any garment you can think of.
Hola buenas tardes. Fantástica tu habilidad para coser y tus máquinas son bellas. Me encantaría ver de cerca la confección de los jeans. Suerte saludos desde Argentina
You have the Best Ever older model sewing Machine. You should stock up. On like Loopers. Feed dogs. Needle plates,,,tension units,,,thread guides,,,needle set screws. They are hard to find.

Love all the old machines. Great video!
yeah, those machines are older than first world war lol
они лучшие ! Никогда не ломаются ,любят работать !!!!
I live for old stuff, even if I don't have very much of it....

I agree, love to see old machines and people 2ho know how to use them!
You can adjust the play speed to play at a slower speed if you like. I played it at 75x instead of normal.

Them chain stich machine are worth a few thousand now
Wow its a story I share
Oh my gosh!!!! Absolutely brilliant, the sheer quality of it all is in a class of it's own!!!!
Artist in every way. Perfection at its best
So glad you're doing that and so telling that all those wonderful machines that still sew perfectly are vintage, and I would guess the only ones up to the job. Bravo!
I've upholstered now over 50 yrs. Love to see these different type machines. You must have a good machine mechanic you can run to in case.
This man uses 0 pins yet sews the jeans to perfection
pins add restriction to the fabric and don’t show how much you actually have
It's an experience and repetition thing. You can get to a point when pinning just slows you down.
You can do it with practice, but you also have to realize that these specialized machines do alot of the work.
That takes quite a bit of practice. He obviously does this for a living, so he has lots of practice... 😄
Wonderfull!! Your machines is wonderfull, a love your machines and tecnicel!!!
Those are the best machine to work. Love it
roy killed this shit. the editor killed this shit. the filmer killed this shit. great video
this guy is the coolest. needs his own channel
I will go out of my way to purchase these jeans, love to watch Roy work, he's the man.
What is the price?
@@sheet-music If you have to ask you should be buying. Cheers.

love me some sewing machines so satisfying! when you use them!
Unbelievable how someone can make jeans. Did not know how many sewing machines are needed. What a talent. Sandra B.
Yeah!... That´s my goal from now on. To be exactly that!
I would totally but a pair of jeans made by an artisan like Roy. Care and quality like that is worth the money.
You know, there are thousands of seamstresses and tailors. You can buy everything tailormade and bespoke but you don't

the ladys that work at my local sewing store would steal those old machines in one second
класс! perfect job! respect Roy!
Love you dude. You are so great! I don't wear pants, but am inspired to make one of those old 'hippie' jeans skirts from the 70's. Peace.
I got chills watching this
Nice machines. I got a few too. props to custom workers like us. :P
I could just sit and watch for hours lol I could just park myself in a corner :)
Would love to see this workshop in person and see all the machines.
For those that don't know. Roy has been know as the best Jean maker in the world for a long time now.
Súper!!!! Felicitaciones
Bien equipado, todas
esas máquinas para la
confección de un blue
Jeans👖, saludos Roy's.
I can't believe how many machines it takes to make a pair of jeans.
I can't believe it's just one man assembling the pair... Thought different sections handled different stages.
you just need 3 machines, but if you want to be more perfect then use more machines
I make pants and jeans all on one single needle sewing machine. Definitely more hands on and less tools.
@@cm_zm95 you need the overlock machine too
@@machinegun2282 many options other than overlock or serger to get a clean seam finish. Some require a little more craftsmanship than others.
