Just got mine for Christmas, finished with 7 cuts, one being the full length of the blade, just poor angles, cane to RUclips right after and am doing a bit of learning first 🤣🤣🤣
Just followed these steps as carefully as I could in the bathroom a few minutes ago… safe to say I now understand how to safely use a razor to shape my beard! So so so helpful, thanks a lot🙏🏾

Just use the weight of the blade. 👍🏻. So if the hair doesn’t get cut the 1st time, there was too much hair for the blade to cut the 1st time and you need to go over it again .
I bought a similar razor and didn’t read the instructions quite right- didn’t spilt the double edge razor in half. This explains my very terrible attempt 🤦
thank you for this video, I've been doing my hubbys hair n beard at home with trimmers n disposable razors switching to this metal razor hopefully il be able to use it properly 😅
I love the cut throat razor only for mine a few months ago and I cut myself to peices when I first used it there just so sharp man ha getting used to it now love how clean and crispy I can cut lines with it
@@new25651Once you master the angles and the right amount of pressure to apply to your skin you can learn it pretty fast. It’s important to take your time at the beginning when learning to use this tool as patience is key 👌
Practice first without a blade in until you are more comfortable with holding the razor and how much pressure to apply. Remember not to press to hard, allow the weight of the razor to do the work. You got this 👍💪
Are you drawing that knife the right way :/? I ask sincerely and out of concern. I would think with a cutthroat razor, you'd angle the blade down, like a scraper...?
Yes I am angling the blade correctly. the razor is at approximately 30 degree angle. Been using the straight razor on my self and many clients for 17 years.
They look great but not practical for day to day use to get a clean crisp shave as they need a lot of stropping and honing etc, the changeable razor blades you can get on the market today are so sharp It’s a more enjoyable shaving experience.
Me doing this while holding the 911 dispatcher while I shave.
What area are you tryna shave dude

Yeah you have to be really careful when first starting out because it'll cut you so easily if you don't do it right.
Yes definitely takes a bit of practice and patience at the beginning however once mastered it’s the best tool for lining up your beard.

Bro you didn't set the blade right when you closed the back lock. It's actually set uneven at the end.
The problem is people try to go wayyyyyyyyy too fast when they’re first starting out.
Practice and patience is key to mastering this tool 👍

Do I need a protractor to get the correct 📐 angle?
Thank you
How often should you change the blade? After every use?
Depending on the blade and your beard approx every 3-5 shaves or when you feel the blade tugging or causing discomfort.
Thanks brother
what guard is your beard btw?? i like it exactly like this!!
Approximately 4-5mm 👍

I hope the video helps and your next shave goes better 👍
@@russellsshaveclub My face was a bit raw but no cuts. Going to keep practicing.

I'm literally about to use mine tomorrow, this helps so much! Cheers from New York!

Were can i buy that blade set up he has? Ebay?
Seriously why don’t you go with Gillette Fusion?
Because that will not shape your beard as precisely as a cut-throat razor will, which is why this tool is used by barbers.

I haven't seen a straight edge like that before
I too ordered this one, used it on my throat hair and it was literally soo good it cut very nicely there and that's why i died ! Lovely razor

You cant clog a straight razor.
Practice on a ballon if it pops take weight off
