@@j827 that's true but the ref waited too long. I don't blame him though. The problem is that Fury was falling around all over the place and unable to defend himself for quite some time. So the ref, if anything, should have stopped the fight there. The knockdown would have made sense if it happened in a short period of time. Like boom boom, 2 punches and the other person fell down. But fury was falling all over the place and completely out of it and not defending himself for too long. The referee technically should have stopped the fight while fury was unable to defend himself but since its a big fight, he should have let it continue like he did up to a point where he says okay he's not coming back. The difference between a knockdown and a knockout is how quickly someone recovers and is conscious and able to defend themselves. They get given an 8 second count if they're not completely put out but that always happens much earlier than in this fight. In this fight, the ref let it continue and whenever this happens, the ref is now looking for a TKO. He is on the verge of stopping the fight because the opponent is on his feet but can't defend himself. I don't blame the ref though. If he stopped the fight and people figured out he was wrong, there would have been a massive backlash. The ref didn't have much time to figure it out either and it is a bit of a negative when it comes to boxing. This type of situation. I hate complexities and technicalities in sports. The simpler it is, the better. If I have to remember a bunch of rules since they aren't obvious, I'm out.
I really don’t understand this take, Fury basically went down and hit the middle rope which kept him up. It was a legit knockdown and the referee recognized it, nothing to see here imo.
Usyk wasn't just fighting against Fury in round 9, he was also fighting against the ropes and the referee

Usyk was robbed though, because the corrupt referee stepped in round 9 to save fury when usyk was battering him and gave fury a very long count, if it wasn't for this, Usyk would have won by round 9 tko. Also the corrupt 2nd judge gave fury the win to save his career, if it wasn't for this, Usyk would have won by unanimous decision not split decision. Usyk clearly won, but saying he smashed fury is a bit of a stretch.
I am a huge fury fan , But this should have been a TKO . The ref had no reason to give him the count .

Yes, the referee had every reason to give him a count. It was a knock-down. When a fighter falls like that and the ONLY thing preventing him being completely down are the ring post and the ropes, that's considered a knock-down. It is in the rules of professional boxing.
@@SC-bp5lqthe ref should’ve stepped in sooner that was a lot of punishment fury took, and it wasn’t the first time he was bounced into the ropes. The ref should’ve given him the count sooner or called the fight, it’s very detrimental to fury’s health letting that go on.
Standard boxing rules, the ref made the right call and prevented there being any controversy from a premature stoppage.

Usyk had Tyson in the corner with his hands down and chin showing completely dazed. Usyk had his left hand cocked and ready to go and the ref stepped in. It would have been lights out.
Plus he had at least 20 seconds left of the round so he could of landed about 30 odd free punches.
Fury could just go down though and get a count. The fact he came back and finished the match says it was the right decision doesn’t it what happened?
@@jgooner894 No way, the long count was not justified. By the rules of boxing, Fury had too much time to recover. It was a full 18 seconds at least. I don’t mind the standing count (although it should have been done sooner imo). But Usyk was robbed of time. The ref can’t let a fighter get his feet under him before resuming the fight.

Usyk won rounds 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Including a 10- 8 round. He beat Fury, the ref, ropes, the bell and a corrupt judge.
Usyk landed 41.8% of his 407 punches thrown, and landed 122 power shots. Whereas Fury landed 31.7 of his 486, and landed 95 power shots.
To be fair I gave 12 to Fury but otherwise spot on

@@user-mz8tx7jk1t I would suggest rewatching the fight and best with the sound off. I gave Fury the 3rd when I watched it live as he did some better work compared to the first two rounds. But rewatching Round 3 in isolation? Usyk did more, pressed forwards, was more accurate, controlled the ring. Fury threw a lot but it was all hitting gloves, a couple of eye catching shots doesn’t win a round against the more accurate more aggressive fighter

Many fights have been stopped when one boxer has been far less hurt than Fury was. Was the ref still trying to ensure a Fury victory. Something seemed very suspicious.
Not that deep it’s just that fury is known for his recovery.
It was a massive fight and Fury was up on the cards and stilll very much in the fight. If Fury had lost every round in the fight and taken plenty of big shots before then the referee would have stopped it.
100% he was. He was chosen for the job to protect the cash cow at all costs. he never told Fury off for his leaning on Usyk or his hand behind his neck. Cheating as always.

Usyk thought the ref had stopped the fight when he jumped in and protected fury from being sparked out. It’s a tko finish to anyone who understands and respects boxing. I’ve seen multiple legends and warriors stopped for receiving less unanswered punches. Tyson was thoroughly outboxed and finished in the ninth.

Ref made a blunder by not letting Usyk keep punching Fury until it was deemed enough punishment to stop the fight in round 9.

In the 9th Fury wasn't punching back and was unable to keep himself balanced going from one side of the ring to the other falling nto the ropes. The fight should have been stopped the ropes were keeping him up. How in the devil could Fury and his corner say he thought Fury was winning the fight. The better man on the night won yet was robbed of a KO.
Usyk literally had the weight of a nation on his shoulders, he couldnt lose. Brilliant performance by both men and a great win for Usyk.

The ref should have given an explanation for his actions because at that point his only action should have been to protect Fury from any more punishment and stop the fight . If he intended to give him a 10 count that should have came earlier and just like these guys say we have seen many fights stopped for less punishment and any post fight uproar is well justified The magnitude of the fight is less relevant to protecting the fighters health

Back in 1986 I put a tenner on a horse called "Roll a Joint" to win the Grand National. The poor horse fell at a fence, broke its leg and had to be shot. No he didn’t. He was getting in Usyks way constantly during that beat down before he stepped in for the standing 8 count. He then gave Fury 20 seconds to recover.

But its hard to disagree with what he said.... Most fights, the referee jumps in and stops it when a fighter is getting hit like that and not defending themself effectively. Fury was just falling around the ring for a full 20 seconds.
When the ref jumps in it should be to stop the fight, not help one of the boxers. He pushes Usyk away, give fury about 15 seconds, then helps fury back to his corner. fury was not fit to continue after that 8 count and the fight should have been over.
BTW i actually don't think that ref did fury any favours long term as fury took a lot of clean accurate punches from usyk right until the 12th round, and he's taken a lot of punches the last few fights, i think fury is a shot fighter and his punch resistance has gone.
