  • People are writing about what level of income makes working Americans happiest, but no one is looking at a similar correlation between retirees and their money. I wanted to explore the relationship between money and the happiest (and unhappiest) retirees. So, I decided to take a very deep dive on that topic. The result is my book, You Can Retire Sooner Than You Think.

You need to edit these before posting them. You repeatedly said people need $500k of income, when you mean net worth.
Also, some of your charts and props are hard to read.

I agree with more children and grandchildren increases happiness for retirees.

Interesting. One comment at 7:00 you meant 500k liquid net worth, not income, which most people think of as annual income. Would the liquid net worth count potential downsizing of the house?

@@billk.7889 the x and y should have been reversed with $ along the x axis and happiness along the y axis, then the curve would show what he is explaining.

Hmm, minimum 500k income in retirement to be happy. Did you cross your wire? Correlation between car brand and happiness seems shady, unless you go after 1st/2nd derivative effects...

500k of liquid net worth, not income; otherwise, 99% of the folks are likely unhappy, which doesn't jive with your earlier statement of 75k of income as the most significant amount

Well, I was doing good until we got to that children thing. I’m a single gay dude and that’s not happening. I’m 61 years old. So I guess that’s one thing I have to not let it worry me.
