Great tips! Never used the vinegar and baking soda one, or squeezing a water bottle for the pressure. I have used the soap and hot water one for years. We have a basement toilet that's prone to clogs, especially if the slightest amount of excess paper is used. The soap (a few squirts of liquid hand soap from the nearby sink) does seem to lubricate the clog. For the hot water, I keep a small plastic bowl about the size of a Cool Whip bowl in the vanity for shaving (don't have to use a larger amount of water in the wide bottom sink, plus easier to deal with the whiskers in the bowl). About a dozen of those bowls full of hot water, and/or enough to raise the water level to the rim, and it seems like something about the action of the pouring agitating the clog and breaking up the paper, or the heat of the water dissolving elements of the clog, or the pressure of a full toilet bowl pushing on the clog, but one or more of those factors and the clog will just suddenly drain with the usual gurgle. If not, it will at least slowly seep out, and if another flush attempt doesn't work, a few more squirts of soap and another dozen or so bowls of hot water, and this second time always does the trick. I have a plunger, but if I don't have to stick it into a 'full load', or 'burp' an air bubble from it that might exit unexpectedly out from under the plunger and cause a really gross splash, then I don't have to sanitize the plunger or the surrounding floor afterward. The soap and hot water is a lot easier, and gets the job done every time!

Our toilet was well and truly blocked and I’d already tried a bottle full of liquid soap with hot water as well as vinegar and baking soda all to no avail. It was then that I found your video on RUclips and your tip of using a plastic bag over the toilet brush. Voila, instant success!
You’ve saved me the cost of calling out a plumber on a Bank Holiday and a long walk to use the nearest public toilets! Thank you 👍😀

Adding dish soap at first is good. If there's any water flow, wait until the water goes down. Then flush again. Keep doing this until it clears. If the water goes down very slow, set a timer for how long it took. Flush again and reset timer. Keep flushing and resetting timer. At some point it will start going down faster. Then it will finally clear. Put a sign so no one uses it and puts more TP in there!

there was so much shit clogged in my toilet I put a bunch of dish washer soap in a bucket, poured hot water inside and started dumping it all in the toilet.
after I dumped 4-5 buckets of hot water the shit cleared and my toilet didnt float anymore.

Tried the dish soup + warm/hot water from shower head. Didn't seem to work until I tried with a coat hanger but making it straight as possible at first and just breaking the blockage.

A sponge got flushed and I used an auger to push it through, hopefully I made the right decision. Now the toilet flushes fine but wondering if it could still get stuck somewhere down the pipe?

    • @penknight8532

@@christydeodora5484 Time usually fixes the problem.
I don't like plungers but in emergency I will use them.
      Or a Drain Snake.
Worse Case you have to call a professional and that cost's serious dough.
