How about Richard coming back to tell Monica he loved her and Monica considering coming back with him??? Why would she believed Chandler didn't wanna marry her when they literally almost got married in Vegas??
There was an episode where Joey had Chandler visit the tailor he had been going to for years, and the guy fondled Chandler. When he mentioned it, Joey thought it was normal. He had been molested for years and apparently it was passed off for laughs.
As a gay man and Friends fan myself, I don't think Chandler was necessarily homophobic towards his father; it was mostly his coming out that ended his parents' marriage when Chandler was a child (during the family holiday of Thanksgiving to add insult to injury). That can be very traumatic for any child and some carry it for most of their lives before they can reconcile it as adults. And as a minor note, Charles Bing/Helena Handbasket (love that pun!) was never actually identified as a full-on transgendered character. There was no mention if he switched his pronouns or gender and he was mostly portrayed as a drag queen. Granted he was played by a cis-actress so perhaps it was left to our imagination. Furthermore sitcoms and series of the past are a reflection of their eras and show what the world was like in times gone by. It's really no different to comedians making jokes about the issues of today at the expense of various members of their audience. Instead of overly criticizing these sitcoms, maybe we can just appreciate how much the world has improved. I really worry that cancel-culture may be getting a bit out of hand these days. It's like no one is allowed to enjoy anything anymore...
spoken like a true cis white guy xD youre cis and white first before gay anything and you get away with everything because of it. No, your logic is stupid and idiotic that most older white people subscribe to - and its just plain lazy and pathetic. Golden Girls was before Friends and was toooooooooons ahead in its progressiveness and intelligence. Friends was written by lazy white people who didnt care about anyone and it shows
Very well said my dude. I enjoy the show and am a fan but even i can’t defend the homophobia/transphobia on the show. But like racist cartoons, we move on and learn from our mistakes so we aren’t inclined to repeat them.
What about when Ross dated Bonnie! Rachel convinced her to shave her head, told Ross she still loved him, got him to dump bonnie then wrote an 18 page letter saying that everything that went wrong in their relationship was all his fault! Ross and Rachel were low key toxic!
You think so? I always found this hilarious. And I and the younger sibling of my family and I get why it was turned into a joke. My feeling is that they take common situations and family stereotypes, and make them extreme for that reason. I will say, I love the episode, where they finally realize that Ross is not perfect and him and Monica go back-and-forth tattling on one another lol.
@@jakekarti6821 Yeah but it was pretty obvious he didn't do much to really stop it and he didn't see it as that big of a deal when confronted about it. I am glad he seemed to support her at least a *little* bit more when she got older.
I always hated the way everyone acted so nonchalant about Carol cheating on Ross and the woman she cheated with was making the baby hers and putting Ros, the father, down. Because they were lesbians its ok?
I hate to say this but I’m glad she found herself sadly Ross got hurt but I do think they way both women mocked him making him look like an azz so I wish they handled it different actually Ross is pretty forgiving
Oh I remember replying to a comment about the whole Carol + Ross on a different video. Basically this guy was solely listing all of Ross' faults especially with the Carol ex-wife thing so I replied basically blaming Carol for being selfish and this guy straight up gives me an angry reply...to which I understood must loved the character Carol and how she did not do anything wrong
I'll defend the "Moo point". While the term is supposed to be "moot point", when Joey explain it, as Rachel says, "is makes sense". A cows point doesn't matter.
WHERE IS CAROLS INFIDELITY ON THIS LIST! I never understood why people just ignored the fact that Carol cheated on Ross! She lied over and over again. Tbh, I agree with a theory that Carol & Susan wanted a baby & basically used Ross without his consent! Like why would Carol consent to sleeping with Ross so far into her relationship with Susan?! 🤷🏻♀️On top of that, the way they basically tried to cut Ross out or at the very least overpower him when it came to the pregnancy & the baby!
Yeah I agree. They act like Ross can be as involved as he wants but it seemed clear that they would've preferred he kick rocks. I guess it all worked out but that situation would mess anyone up
Agreed hell Ross even called her out on her hypocrisy in one episode after she got annoyed at him when she found he drunkenly slept with another woman while on a break with Rachael "Hey you're not one to talk you slept with another woman while we were married!"
What bothers me is that when Paolo sexually harrased Phoebe, all the attention was focused on Rachel as if she's the victim, because Paolo wasn't who Rachel thought he was and now she has to break up with him. But no one paid attention to Phoebe who was the real victim.
I think because Phoebe was practically immune to bad things happening (to her)....she lived on the streets among criminals, it might not even be the first time a guy tried to molest her. Still not ok, but it was understandable.
I don't think that was the case. At that time, sexual harrasment wasn't taken seriously. This is why when Phoebe tells her friends about it, they've added some funny lines to make it look sort of a funny situation. You can also see these kind of things in other old sitcoms.
Friends has a perfect representation of a Healthy relationship (Monica & Chandler) Toxic relationship (Ross & Rachel) and Platonic relationship (Phoebe & Joey). Although Ross is THE worst character, David Schwimmer is the best actor of the bunch, his delivery was always excellent 🤌 Ross had some good qualities, and without Ross being the worst, we wouldn't have had those teachable moments (although not hitting on family members, should have been a given 😅)
Chandler and Monica are not a perfect relationship, but a toxic one, as Monica is always belittling Chandler as a man and she is abusive for only allowing her opinions to count in the relationship, when in fact it is a two-way street. And the WORST CHARACTER is Rachel who is only funny when she has other characters to push her, not Ross who is a human being who actually makes mistakes, besides being very funny and a person willing to help everyone.
Friends is one of the best TV series ever made , but I agree that all six members made a lot of weird things that aren't related today , 1990's and 2000's was really a different era
I guess it depends on your age. If you’re Gen Z or younger I can definitely see how strange and foreign the time period might seem. Kind of how the 50’s might have seemed to me.
Okay, so Ross dated a student. So did Monica and Rachel (well, briefly, but anyway). I never thought that Chandler's father's storyline was bad. Any child would have difficulties dealing with parents divorce and understanding why dad likes now boys and dresses like a woman. But Chandler wanted to learn and forgive, and invited his father to his wedding and even called him beautiful. In my opinion that was a perfect way to show that their relationship was healed. Ross also attended Carol's and Susan's wedding, and showed some growth there dealing with that stuff. There are of course problems on this show, but to make a show interesting and entertaining characters have to have flaws and they have to make stupid decicions, because perfect and vanilla characters aren't interesting. And if you start to look at these over 20 year old shows too closely from this day's perspective, everything can start to seem wrong, even the smallest jokes.
Not the same. The issue was Ross dating his own student, on his work place, which is pretty unethical and against their code of conduct. Monica's was bad, but not because the guy happened to be a student, but because of his age (I'd have included that on the list tbh, the age thing was pretty bad). Rachel dating some random college student was pretty inconsequential, a worse one for her would be her dating Tag, her direct employee, though at least he wasn't quite as young as Elisabeth. Though, really, imo the worst offender was Ms. Knight, who dated Frank, Phoebe's 18yo brother who was also her high-school student. They're a funny couple, but that storyline always creeps me out.
How about Richard coming back to tell Monica he loved her??? And why would Monica even believe Chandler didn't want to marry her, when they almost got married in Vegas!! She shouldn't even have considered going back with Richard, like wth...that always pisses me off...I know it was all for shock value before their engagement but it made me hate her a little
Maybe, in my opinion, she was desperate not to grow old alone unlike Rachel and Phoebe. She didn't want to believe what her mom said (also the reason why they blew her money for marriage for a beach house). And Chandler saw Richard as a threat for Monica's affections
I couldn't believe that Ross actually tried to hit on his own cousin! I don't care if she WAS Denise Richards, there's certain lines you don't cross with family members! 🚫
I'm sorry but the biggest thing about Friends that always pissed me off was Rachel and Ross, they were legitimately horrible to each other more than half the time. I honestly wish they had kept with the small Rachel and Joey romance because it was honestly super cute
This is definitely one of those opinions I have that I get flamed on, but yeah, I actually liked them better in comparison. They actually supported each other in their fields and didn't look down each other for that. I still love that scene where Rachel's pregnant and Ross accidentally brings her a sandwich with pickles and she has to go throw up in the bathroom cuz they make her sick. And she shouts from the bathroom "can someone make sure that's gone by the time I come back?" and Joey goes "don't worry, I'm on it!" and then proceeds to eat the sandwich. 😂 To me, I find that a better dynamic.
I honestly wish she followed her career path and went to Paris! The older I get the less I like Ross and Rachel. Also agree on Rachel and Joey, or Rachel and that Gavin guy. But honestly her leaving for Paris was the perfect way to end Rachel's story arc imo. Starts a spoilt, naïve girl, bailing on a marriage to moving to an entirely new Country to pursue a once in a lifetime job opportunity.
@@dianis0520 you could argue that their parents favouritism is part of the reason why ross has such entitlement issues, and even in the nanny episode you can see they kinda messed him up with the way he treated the nanny and talked about his childhood. just because ross was the favourite child doesnt mean they were good parents to him.
Turn on the captions during the episode when Rachel told her dad was pregnant. You can hear the things he says when he thinks Rachel is still on the phone
Ross was raised like this by his parents. They cherished and adored him more than they did with Monica. As he was used to getting all the support from them, he couldn't not handle any situation properly where he was not secure like at his parent's house. He tried to become better but one's personality doesn't change easily.
These “unforgivable” moments are what happens in real life and is so relatable. And this video and the comments below it about who is the worst makes no sense. No one is perfect as a human. They have shown how people have stereotypes of gender roles, insensitivity to alcoholism, making lists or whatever you mentioned in the video through these characters. OFCOURSE they all have flaws. And that’s exactly how its supposed to be.
@Milan that is exactly what I meant. Its a funny series and my favourite too. But the person who made this video doesn’t think so. It’s like throwing hate on FRIENDS.
They’re not throwing hate towards “Friends” just pointing out the flaws and the many things that haven’t aged well. It’s also not hateful to point out negative things. Either way this is just a video plainly for entertainment and not everyone is going to like it.
@@nick6990 you disagreed with someone else’s opinion on this show, shared your opinion, and then when someone else disagreed with you, you told them it’s just a show and to not take it so seriously. But you were the first under my comment to have a difference of opinion. Hypocrisy.
give it a rest , the show was in the 90s , opening doors to adoption , single mothers , homosexuality , .... the list goes on and on . I think Ross is characterized like any other first born son , with all of his good and bad manners , we all make mistakes .
I'm not sure how to say this, but here goes, when revisiting shows; you have to remember the times they were made in. Things we have learned since then that are not okay now were acceptable during that time. Don't fault shows for living the culture they existed in.
We have not learn anything none of this shit was acceptable back then so really think that making out with your was okay back then then your sick because they even said that it was NOT OKAY IN THE EPISODE!
Yet people keep putting this show in such high standings. It may have been sort of entertaining then but it was never that good. Still not getting any better the more you look at it.
For me he most unforgiving moment is Ross's refusal to divorce Rachel after Vegas. Him asking Rachel to stay his wife - not because they can give it a try, or that they'll be good together - just because he didn't want another divorce! That is his only argument. And after, staying secterly married to Rachel, lying to her about it, was also very stupid. At first it was funny, but now - rewatching it 10 years later - I find this situation deeply disturbing... Plus, Rachel, thinking that Ross "took care" of things, and that she didn't sign a paper - was also very stupid. And how they both dealt with inevitable divorce - childish.
Yes lets not forget the reason Ross was the way he was because his ex-wife cheated on him with another woman that would cause anyone to have trust issues. Carol was a hypocrite and a POS
What about the time that Monica expected to use all of chandler’s savings for their wedding! Even though she later came to her senses, i feel it was still so wrong for her to ask that of him in the first place.
I hated Monica so much when she started dating Chandler they brought out the worst in each other hell I remember she asked him about flowers at their wedding he said Roses but she kept putting the pic of tulips in his face untll he changed his mind I mean seriously why would you bother asking if you knew what you wanted to begin with?
But Chandler would gladly pay all of Joey's expenses -- including his share of the rent -- no questions asked and with no expectation of repayment. Those two should have gotten married.
@@Grania52 fr 💀 that honestly could have been a quite beautiful arc if chandler and Joey had gotten together and it might’ve been the most healthy romantic relationship in the show 😭🤚
what about when ross wouldnt get the divorce after him and rachel got married in vegas, but lied to her about handling it. that is one of my least favorite ross moments. he didnt want to be "divorced three times" and wanted to be married to rachel, but boy CONSENT!! rachel wanted that shit annulled, and he lied to her about it.
@@MsMojo Well, in your defense, while all of the characters on Friends did some terrible things throughout the course of the series, I do consider Ross to be the most unforgivable character on the show! 😂 I personally would definitely have given "Ross trying to bang his cousin" the #1 spot on the list, though. That was SO messed up.
@@MsMojo and forget everything the other Friends did, right? Hey, dating you intern is funny, but dating your student is "problematic". Being so jeously that you convince your ex current girlfrind to shave her hair is funny, being jeously when your name is Ross is "problematic". So, tell me, does the writes of Msmojo have a switch they have to press to remember a show is a comedy, as to ignore some characters behavior, or is just something that comes natural?
i recently watched the fun bobby episode and i did find it poor how they treated his alcoholism. i know its just a sitcom, but friends really had a way of treating serious shit like a joke. i also think that ross is a perfect example of what can happen to a person who ignores their obvious issues. it isnt until later in the series when we get the idea that maybe jack and judy werent that great parents to ross despite their favouritism while ross obviously had relationship issues after what happened with carol but he just let them fester and sabotage certain aspects of his life.
I remember feeling incredible sad for Rachel when she was reading the list, and to be fair Joey actor decided to play dumb, I wish the writer didn't let him
"Jah boo boo Claude" 🤣 OK, I get it's jacked to dumb him down but his inability to learn french was freaking hilarious because I feel like this is what I sound like trying to speak other languages. I guess it's a MOO point 😉
yeah, but he was street-smart, and still applied LOGIC to things. they turned him intellectually disabled when in the earlier seasons, he was just slow and lovable.
Having grown up during the AIDS crisis under Republicans, I feel this was a pretty good way of dealing with trans people at that time. Now, with trans people being more visible, Chandler's arc with Helena would be bad. But, at the time, given the political and social climate, it was fine. All the Friends eventually embraced Helena.
Yep. You cannot judge the past with the eyes of the present. Friends had a lot of growdbreaking subject. Chandler was transphobic, for sure, but the show never said he was right into being transphobic, in fact, bu the end, went the other way. That is a beatiful conversation between Chandler and Monica when he is complaining that Helena went to his swim competion dress as Carmen Miranda and Monica answer that he shoulnd complain, because she went to see his son, that what really matter in the end.
he still should’ve trusted Rachel. If you think about it a reason Ross behaved the way he did with Rachel could be because carol cheated on him BUT then again he didn’t behave that way with Julie or Emily. He was trusting of them but why not Rachel?
@@emelincruz4516 He was insecure about Emily going on a trip with Susan, understandably though. But the reason he wasn't that possessive with his other love interests ia because he didn't have strong feelings for any of them unlike for Rachel.
Friends has some problematic moments and is generally flawed, but I still love and adore the show. I think it’s way better than How I met your Mother. I SAID WHAT I SAID AND I AM NOT GONNA APOLOGIZE.
It wasn't transphobic. This issue was Chandler's baggage due to his father's lifestyle. He was a traumatized child who never had the chance to heal. Inviting his father to the wedding was his attempt at healing and moving forward.
It’s funny that for a guy who sees himself as the ‘nice, sensitive’ type, ross is really insecure about his own masculinity and what is or isn’t manly. Neither Joey or chandler have this problem like him
Social Media. It made a bunch of mutants find other like minded mutants t oget together and have "Town Square" moments with people. But instead of civil discourse they only learned "OMG IF YOU DONT AGREE WITH ME U R CANCELLED!!!!!!"
No one is offended at people getting offended though. People are annoyed. Do you know how irritating it is now to have to watch literally every single word you say? Think of it like this: Man 1 - hey bruh, want a pizza? Man 2 - sure man, what you want to get on it? Man 1 Italian sausage? Man 3 - omg, so what you're saying is you hate pepperoni, you bastard I am literally shaking at your bigotry
I admit Ross is scripted to have social flaws, but Rachel: - was also jealous about Julie - tried to prevent Ross-Emily wedding - convinced Ross to leave Bonnie - lied about videotape The list was idea of Joey and Chandler, and Ross was drunk when he cheated if I remember correctly, and then tried to fix his mistake.
So being drink makes ok to cheat/sleep with another one while on a break with your supposed loved girlfriend?? Besides he didn't try to make things right, he LIED to her and tried to keep her for knowing the truth.
@@chelyvi7466 Many characters in sitcoms lie to get away, that makes the comedy. But yeah, my comment was written 2 years ago, and my opinion about cheating while drunk has changed since.
I was literally obsessed with this show , i literally would watch all the time my family would make fun of me bc i was watching it ALL THE TIME! but as i got older it became so provocative that i couldn't watch a single episode
Top ten worst thing the friends gang has ever done 1. Slept with Chloe the copygirl (Ross geller) 2. Catnapped Julio the cat (phoebe buffay) 3. Lied to Leonard about the wedding with Ross (Rachel green) 4. Kissed Kathy behind joeys back (chandler) 5. Puts Joey in an embarrassing situation during Mondler secret 6. Being gender judgmental (Ross geller ) 7. Dating Casey while dating Kathy (Joey tribianni) 8. Saying "ok" to Joey (Rachel green) 9. Ross's jealously 10. I don't wanna be stuck here all night with ur fat sister (Chandler)
Rachel wasn't that great a friend. she made ross miss being on tv, made him miss his last night with emily. she told tag pheobe was gay so he wouldn’t ask her out, she took that actor from monica, she made ross' girlfriend shave her head. Joey proposed, but rachel said yes...she made ross break up with the baby store lady, and ruined his wedding.. I could go on
Sorry, but the "it's moo" thing was hilarious and I still say that line. I think it is actually believable that someone might have misheard it and eventually came up with that theory lol.
So ross is stuck between two women, he has to choose one, and because he decided to weigh his options it's unforgivable? Everything he said about Rachael was 100% true. How about Rachael basically sabotaging every relationship Ross had? How is that not even referenced? How about the Friends cast trying to push together a ridiculously toxic Ross/Rachel romance that would be always doomed to fail? Screwing over people's lives? That's not an issue. But they made a joke about someone who's not even trans! That's worse than death
Oh and I'm not done. Insurance fraud. Rachael tells Monica to commit a crime Monica sleeping with a 17 year old. Joey can cheat all he wants but with Paulo, a meaningless fling with a language barrier is worse? Ross staging a fake memorial service for himself after posting fake pictures of chandler having sex with men? But don't worry. Transphobia is worse. Totally Chandler lying to Janice, effectively screwing her out of a good house in a good neighborhood? That's okay but heaven forbid you make a fat reference. Let's play Chandler's smoking addiction for laughs, but let's not say a man who is boring without his drinking is boring. Constantly lying on your resume? Yeah that's fine
@@nick6990 um dude literally everything from game of Thrones s6-finish all the way t ostar wars and marvel movies and shows are considered "woke" now. You been under a rock man?
I think one of the biggest moments of friends that did not age well is when Joey thought he found his hand twin it was the most ridiculous stupidest subplot and that entire episode was bad and Rachel and Ross pulling pranks on each other the only ones that seems sane in that episode is Chandler and Monica it's the one in Vegas
Technically Ross was right about Mark. Not for nothing he thought he was happily married until Carol cheated on him and left him for Susan. Rather then acknowledge what he went through as horrible they make fun of it. In the end his Friends wasn't there for him like he was for them. I'm tired of the Ross hate. Though the cousin thing I can never defend.
By that time many of these jokes like the one with Chandler's father didn't bother anyone but nowdays many people are bothered very easily. It was a much simpler era
This is what I don't get about cancel culture, and shows like Friends that was started in the 90s. Fair a lot of it hasn't aged well, but it was made in the 90s when a lot of these topics were barely spoken about! The fact Friends right out the gate had a lesbian couple, they were a lot more forward thinking in a lot of aspects for that time! And what does the cancel culture expecting them to do about it? Reshoot the whole series?
People mostly label Ross as the most unliked character of the 6 in friends. When you get cheated on in a marriage and that ex along with their new partner practically gets full-time custody of your kid, lets see how that effects you for life.
While that can explain things like his insecurity, especially with relationships (hence why someone even tells him "wow. Carol messed you up pretty bad huh?" in regards to his trust issues and jealousy), there's a *LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT* of other issues he definitely has that I'd wager stem from other factors like how he was raised.
Yes ross' jealousy of mark was of hand, but rachel didnt help matters as well. She didnt even acknowledge how he might be feeling or even set boundaries with mark as just a co-worker. Of course ross is jealous his gf who is out of league is working with a good looking guy who by the way got her the job, doesnt that make Mark look a little sketch.
My top 5 1. Transpobia and Homophobia 2. Fat Shaming Monica 3. Ross not wanting to hire a nanny 4. Ross trying to bang his cousin 5. Downplaying Phoebe’s sexual assault by Paulo. Ross was such an annoying character and Rachel deserved so much better.
You never had someone eat your lunch/steal your food, ESPECIALLY at work?! It's infuriating! Lol he just let his thoughts slip out his mouth! 🤣😂🤣😂 Plus that was right after the whole Emily wedding disaster, so that sandwich was the ONLY good thing to him in that moment! Idk I'm not trying to defend his actions but I'm just saying I kinda understand how that could've happened! Ya know??
@@Missmagazinebura yea totally, that's a good idea & the best way to avoid having your lunch taken! Lol Unfortunately tho not a lot of people have that option say because of specific food restrictions/allergies, diets or they just can't afford to buy lunch while at work everyday so they bring from home! Some jobs you HAVE to put your lunch in the "Employee Fridge" and or Breakroom, that most of the time have NO lockers in them either! Even when you put your name on your stuff some people will 1000% still eat, steal, your food/stuff.. That's all I meant, but again I agree that his reation, to HIS BOSS no less, was very inappropriate! He should've just asked around, calmly approached the person & had a civil conversation about his issue!
4:24 I'd humbly disagree. Rachel was definitely the one being more toxic in ross and rachel relation. The amount of times that rachel tried to break ross's relationships. The most obvious one was with Bonnie. I always gets mad when thinking about this. No matter what rachel did, the show kept emphasing on the fact that ross was in the wrong. Yes he had some moments where he was wrong, but there were countless other times where rachel was wrong that people just seem to forgot
@claireice I kinda have to disagree with you here. Let's take the "we were on a break" instance. I have to side here with Ross. Yes he shouldn't have slept with someone minutes after your breakup (And yes I think it was a breakup). But put yourself in his shoes. He had a fight with Rachel about Mark and an hour after their fight she is hanging out with him. And why do people keep forgetting that the morning after Rachel told Monica that she and Ross broke up. (Not that they were on a break, they BROKE UP).
@claireice but at the same time I agree with you that before the whole fight Ross was being very petty with all his actions and gifts in Rachel's office
It's hard to state who is more toxic. These two were just a disaster. Dating for Rachael was just a game for power. That's all it ever was. When she had control, she was happy. When she didn't, she made sure she got it. And when she finally got a good job, she put Ross completely on the back burner and focuses entirely on her work. And Ross was so controlling and possessive it was insane. He always had to be right. He always had to get his way. It got so ridiculous that outside of joey and chandler, she couldn't have a male friend. These two were just terrible to and for each other and the fact that the gang kept trying to force this should have been #1. But what's a few ruined lives when you can say transphobia
Alot of people here saying how they hate Ross while I'm over here thinking that Ross is one of my favorite characters😅 Yes, he did things that were not okay, but so did everyone else. Rachel tried to sabotage all of Ross's relationships and then continued to not want to pursue a relationship with him. The Bonnie thing was ridiculous and then she had to rub it in his face that he was a cheater (have a whole other opinion about this situation) after reading the letter that she wrote to him. Why? Because deep down she always loved him. Phoebe didn't always treat Chandler right and if you wanna bring in cheating, she kissed David while being with Mike. Monica was fine at first with the OCD, but it got to be really bad, especially when she was in charge of Phoebe's wedding. And she wanted Chandler to spend all of his savings in a huge wedding that he didn't necessarily want. He wanted to be married to her of course, but he wanted to put that money towards a house for them. Chandler kissed Kathy while being with Joey (even though she showed interest in him) and fat shamed Monica in their early years. And yes, Joey is a beloved character, but he was a player. There were a few women who wanted him to call back and he never did, making it seem like it was their fault. And as far as the list goes, Ross was dumb to write it, but the guys shouldn't have encouraged his to compare the two in the first place. But guess what? That's what makes the show so great. Every character has their own flaws because no one is perfect. The show would have been too damn boring if everyone was perfect and there were no flaws. I'm not offended by anything these characters did BTW, I was just pointing out that they have all done things that weren't great. I love the show and agree that some concepts wouldn't be allowed today. Thats why I'm glad it was made years ago😂
Going into this video, I just knew it would be an overly-woke list that comes after Ross unnecessarily, as well as trying to compare Friends to modern day values (which is ridiculous). So here I am to debunk a few of them: 1. The list - It pisses me off when people blame Ross for this. It was CHANDLER's idea!!! Ross was at a loss on what to do so he just hopelessly went along with it. 2. Ross' insecurities - This can be entirely justified by Ross' past. He says it himself in Central Perk: He was with Carol for 8 years and lost her. Obviously a traumatic negative experience like that is going to give you insecurities in relationships. If Susan stole Carol, then why wouldn't he think Mark could steal Rachel? It's not a question of trusting Rachel, it's called trauma. 3. The "gender stereotypes" with the Barbie & male nanny - The show is of its time. Gender norms were totally normal back then and there's nothing wrong with that. The same can be said for the whole Chandler's father situation. The only things that Ross did that are genuinely unforgivable were probably dating a student and trying to kiss his cousin. Those two were incredibly creepy and inexcusable, but the rest of the stuff can be easily defended.
@TylerFG It’s completely true. It’s funny, because I’m actually a left-wing liberal who usually scoffs at people who use the word “woke”. But in this context, it’s entirely true. The way the extreme left relentlessly come after Ross, whilst ignoring all the other toxic traits of other characters, is truly laughable.
I think being cheated on would make anyone have trust issues and Ross's ex-wife Carol cheated on him with another woman hell I'd have trust issues too in that case. Also Monica became so unbearably unlikable and annoying later on especially after she started dating Chandler
In the reunion, matt perry and courtney cox basically said chandler and monica would still be married, ross and rachel would be married, phoebe and mike would still be married and Joey would own a sandwich shop in venice beach.
Not one I've heard often online but what about the 'Xerox girl' (Chloe) blatantly ignoring Ross saying "No" multiple times and getting him drunker and drunker until he says yes. Swap the genders and the audience would have gone mental over that but since it's a guy it's funny and he's a cheater?? Like WHAT???
Say what you want, Ross is the best character with the most memorable scenes. Anyone remembers the tight leather pants scene? I could've barely breathed from laughing
One of my favorite Joey lines is, "what color is the paste?" "what difference does that make?!" "well if the paste matches the pants you could make yourself a pair of paste pants and she'll never know the difference!" haha
In Ross defense, Chandler came up with the List idea, and Chandler and Joey didn’t thought that was wrong. Yes, Ross wrote it. But his List wasn’t meant to be bad, after all the “bad” qualities that Rachel has, he love her still
I hated how Carol was basically just given a pass at cheating on Ross (which Susan) just because she’s a lesbian Cheating is cheating, regardless of sexuality
Friends remains my die hard fave sitcome, that I still binge watch to this day. The problem is the world has lost its sense of humor. There is a difference in joking and shaming. So again I say if you're offended by the jokes of a sitcom don't watch the sitcom
It may be abhorrent, what Paolo does, but that’s kinda the truth in our history. I don’t think the writers did anything wrong really. He was gross and they gave it a light humorous spin while also personally calling him out on his behavior. Unfortunately, that’s kinda the truth on how we had to handle it for so long. It may be handled differently today but writing it into a lighthearted sitcom was simply just true to form for our recent past. Things like that were so common and we just had to accept it, while it’s not ok and not funny anymore in current TV sitcom humor it’s a good reminder of how casual and common it was.
i still love the show, but yeah i didnt like the character developmentes from joey becoming increasingly stupid every season, phoebe from a lovable hippie to just a plain Bt, and chandler from a funny charming guy to just a potato hiding behind monica
Fr they did them all dirty. And Ross slowly going insane! The only one who really developed was Rachel because she went from being a spoiled jobless girl to working the job of her dreams and being more confident!
They spoke on Pheobe being sexually assaulted by Paulo, but not Chandler being sexually assaulted by Joey's tailor (and by extension Joey himself as a child--15 or 16). They played it off for laughs even when Chandler jumped when touched, which is a common reaction to assult victims.
9:01 THe reason they did that is because the network wanted Joey written out because the actors pay was getting too expensive so they gave him a story arc to keep him around
Which "Friends" moment do YOU find the most unforgivable? Let us know below, and be sure to also check out our video of the Top 10 Times Ross Was the Worst - ruclips.net/video/-J66o5AM0II/видео.html
Rachel’s sisters were unforgivable
How about Richard coming back to tell Monica he loved her and Monica considering coming back with him??? Why would she believed Chandler didn't wanna marry her when they literally almost got married in Vegas??
None and calling them "unforgivable" sounds very extreme, even in 2022.
@@domx7zero157 Exactly they need to stop taking it so seriously

What about when Ross dated Bonnie!
Rachel convinced her to shave her head, told Ross she still loved him, got him to dump bonnie then wrote an 18 page letter saying that everything that went wrong in their relationship was all his fault!
Ross and Rachel were low key toxic!
I always found Bonnie more fun and kinkier than Rachel
Not even low key
That is so far from low key
They were incredibly toxic ..
Totally agree with you they are toxic
Another honorable mention: The way Monica’s parents treated her over Ross
Seriously! Their mom called Rachel “the daughter she never had” and that even shows how horrible they are
@Isabella Rocha yes! and in that episode where ross has a fake funeral, she even said she wouldve been childless without him 😭 thats very extreme
Not Jack as much as Judy
I thought this too! I'm a lesbian and even I thought that was pretty rude of carol + Susan :(
Many people consider it to not be proper cheating & in any case Ross is a figure of ridicule.
I love you for saying this🥹❤️
Someone needed to say this😩🫶🏾
I hate to say this but I’m glad she found herself sadly Ross got hurt but I do think they way both women mocked him making him look like an azz so I wish they handled it different actually Ross is pretty forgiving
I agree. Add on to that the way they (especially Susan) treated Ross.
and mona .
I agree, but I’m re watching the show and I don’t think they cut him out of the babies life at all
What bothers me is that when Paolo sexually harrased Phoebe, all the attention was focused on Rachel as if she's the victim, because Paolo wasn't who Rachel thought he was and now she has to break up with him.
Although Ross is THE worst character, David Schwimmer is the best actor of the bunch, his delivery was always excellent 🤌 Ross had some good qualities, and without Ross being the worst, we wouldn't have had those teachable moments (although not hitting on family members, should have been a given 😅)
im rewatching it and i'm impressed by david's acting. he's incredible as ross
Yes, agreed! Ross, iconic cheating excuse: WE WERE ON A BREAK is cult classic!
Monica and Chandler were far from a healthy relationship they brought out the worst in each other she was better off with Richard
@@janeenharrison1953 they were on a break though not to mention Ross was drunk when it happened
Well, you have to admit. Nobody can play a better Ross than David Schwimmer.
Yes, agreed! My favorite actor on that show. He nailed it everytime.
And it's impressive that the role of Ross was made for Schwimmer.

Not so different
Today's super sensitive culture will never understand that unfortunately.. too many victims, no sense of humor..

I guess it depends on your age. If you’re Gen Z or younger I can definitely see how strange and foreign the time period might seem. Kind of how the 50’s might have seemed to me.
Ms Mojo - "we promise this is our last one to do with Ross"
Does 2 or 3 more in the honorable mentions
Age wasn’t really the only problem in Ross’ relationship, it’s the fact she was HIS student not just A student.
And Pheobe's 18-years old brother dating a teacher, don't forget about it.
@@kiminimuchu__ Also the student Monica was dating, both of them initially lied about her age, Monica had no idea!
I know a lot of people do not like Ross, but his scenes are some of the funniest and iconic moments ever

I'm sorry but the biggest thing about Friends that always pissed me off was Rachel and Ross, they were legitimately horrible to each other more than half the time. I honestly wish they had kept with the small Rachel and Joey romance because it was honestly super cute
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO AGREES WITH ME
Yeah fr and at the end they were just like “let’s not act like literal middle schoolers this time 🥺” like wtf????
How about the fact that Rachel, Monica and Ross grew up with a terrible parents?
I think only Joey really has a functional family dynamic
But Ross was the favorite one Monica on the other side was treated poorly by her mom.

Rachael tells Monica to commit a crime
Monica sleeping with a 17 year old.
Joey can cheat all he wants but with Paulo, a meaningless fling with a language barrier is worse?
Ross staging a fake memorial service for himself after posting fake pictures of chandler having sex with men? But don't worry. Transphobia is worse. Totally
Chandler lying to Janice, effectively screwing her out of a good house in a good neighborhood? That's okay but heaven forbid you make a fat reference.
Let's play Chandler's smoking addiction for laughs, but let's not say a man who is boring without his drinking is boring.
Constantly lying on your resume? Yeah that's fine
dude its WokeMojo, they might as well be the Buzzfeed of RUclips. Ross is a HATED character by the population from 2014-onward
@@TheGhostofMrArthurs There is no such thing as woke so stop they just hate the show and just trying to find ways to hate it and it’s stupid
@@nick6990 um dude literally everything from game of Thrones s6-finish all the way t ostar wars and marvel movies and shows are considered "woke" now. You been under a rock man?
@@TheGhostofMrArthurs Okay well you keep thinking that
I think one of the biggest moments of friends that did not age well is when Joey thought he found his hand twin it was the most ridiculous stupidest subplot and that entire episode was bad and Rachel and Ross pulling pranks on each other the only ones that seems sane in that episode is Chandler and Monica it's the one in Vegas
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank goodness I watched it when people weren’t over sensitive about everything
For #1, they forgot to mention how Ross reacted when he found out that Carol had always been a lesbian.
The one I hate the most is where Ross got "excited" by his pretty cousin
Still no excuse!
We got to LOVE how most of the moments on this list have something to do with Ross!!!!!!!!
Especially since he asked her out the like day of their breakup
My top 5
1. Transpobia and Homophobia
2. Fat Shaming Monica
3. Ross not wanting to hire a nanny
4. Ross trying to bang his cousin
5. Downplaying Phoebe’s sexual assault by Paulo.
Ross was such an annoying character and Rachel deserved so much better.
The sandwich 🥪 situation at work was unforgivable
Thank you!!!
Ya know??
@@amandajs9135 I buy my own food at work
@@Missmagazinebura yea totally, that's a good idea & the best way to avoid having your lunch taken!
Ross and the student is a problem, but Pheobe's 18-years old brother and his TEACHER is OKAY?
its so true abt the turning joey dumb part he wasn’t supposed to b like that :(
They did the same thing with Eric on Boy Meets World

I'd humbly disagree.
But what's a few ruined lives when you can say transphobia
friends fans here?
So here I am to debunk a few of them:
Nothing to forgive. It's been almost 30 years since it started. It happened. Let it go!!!
I totally agree with Joey, I did not like how they made his character like that as the seasons went on
Fr he had so much potential and they treated him like he never learned. He could’ve had a lot of character growth :/
How did Joey not having a happy ending not on the list
God, the jealousy of Ross.
I hate that!
Also his response to the "Manny".
Ross! What is your problem?!
There's nothing unforgivable and it was all fun. Why don't you cancel comedy as a whole next? What the heck is going on with this generation?
In Ross defense, Chandler came up with the List idea, and Chandler and Joey didn’t thought that was wrong. Yes, Ross wrote it. But his List wasn’t meant to be bad, after all the “bad” qualities that Rachel has, he love her still
I hated how Carol was basically just given a pass at cheating on Ross (which Susan) just because she’s a lesbian
Cheating is cheating, regardless of sexuality
u know what? ---> Geller's way of giving the finger :D
Ross hitting on his own cousin is THE WORST
I think the criticism of these situations should be a lot less. Lighten up
Friends remains my die hard fave sitcome, that I still binge watch to this day. The problem is the world has lost its sense of humor. There is a difference in joking and shaming. So again I say if you're offended by the jokes of a sitcom don't watch the sitcom
Very well put
In the words of the great philosopher Daniel Tosh..."if you've ever said any version of '"there's nothing funny about X"'...know that I hate you"
Thank you for calling it alcohol use disorder! So important for the distigmatization or the disease❤️
this list is unforgivable. it's a joke
I heard that the reason why joey became if you will dumber was due to Matt Le Blanc. It was his decision to change joey.
Some of the moments you call "unforgivable" are to me some of the funniest ones
Fact that after 15 years Joey ended up as an unknown, unemployed actor with no money should be on the list.
In my opinion, Ross trying to kiss his cousin provides the funniest scene in the show
