  • Hi gang! This video isn’t my usual ski binding or car I’ve built, but a look back at the marketing ads for the 1st generation Audi TT. Back in 2003 when I purchased my first TT, I collected anything I could get my hands on. Recently when cleaning out the basement I found all these old VHS tapes on the TT. I decided to transfer them to digital and put them together in a video. Several things to note, quality of late 90’s VHS tape just isn’t in the league of modern digital media, so please bear with the quality, basically that’s the way it was. This video is long (sorry) but I wanted to get the dealer introduction, and dealer training videos in. You’ll hear the name of the original exterior designer Freeman Thomas, I want to link you to a great video done by the RUclips channel “Barchetta” “Freeman Thomas Is The MASTERMIND Behind The Audi TT” • Freeman Thomas Is The ... So if you ever wanted to know about the origins of the Audi TT this would be a great start. Oh the one ad video with no sound, hum Jimi Hendrix’s “Hay Joe” and you’ll back fill the copyrighted song.

Fantastic video of amazing car. TT 225cv is in my opinion a high value future classic. Fast, authentic turbo kick, simple mechanics, 6 speeds and....beautiful. It is going up a lot in value. Probably in a few years it will not be available to everyone.

Very interesting. Never saw any of these adverts here in the UK. I've a 21 year old TT Coupe 225 bhp bam engine quattro turbo and still looks as fresh in design as when it first came out but with the aero dynamic aids audi put on to help with stability. Now a modern classic. Clubs and forums here in the uk dedicated to the MK1 and around the world.

Hi Steven, such a wonderful car. I've owned a couple of 8N TTs you can see them here in this video montage. I was a member of the TTOC for a couple of years and the magazine was fun, but became "spotty" in delivery, and there was sometime a great disconnect between the TT culture there and here. You'll see in the video a reference to High Country TTs which is a short article my wife wrote for TTOC. ruclips.net/video/g1JThfJ_-i0/видео.html

Yes. I was a member of the TT owners club myself. I show my TT at various classic car shows here in and around Staffordshire. Still gets plenty of attention

Thank you. This is so enjoyable. I'm basking (read wallowing) in the feeling of driving mine. We just replaced the heated seats button row in time for winter.
It was the Doug Demure video and a baseball roadster from San Diego becoming available coincidently that did it for me a year ago. This video cinfirms me having made the right decision. My first car was a 1954 Austin Healey 100-4. I think the Mk1 is the refinement of that experience. You have made my day.

Thank you so much, our love of the TT shows in it's various iterations. If you'd like to see my wife and my TTs look a little deeper into my RUclips channel and you'll find the Glesner's TTs.

    With respect to the footage 15:03 & 29:16 minutes in . . .
my TT, yet unnamed, is there at this moment having a Forge dump valve and Dieselgeek shift bushings installed. The tech wants to drive it as much as I. One end of the VW/Audi/Ferrari/Maserati service bays are reserved for the Ferraries and Maseratis at MAG. On break, those techs have come over nodding when I've driven down from Delaware. Everyone likes a good lookin' car. At some level, we're all rodders.

Those salesman reviews of TT vs. Boxster vs. Z3 vs. Slk are biased towards Audi paid by Audi to review 😳 (Proof , why not review the TT Roadster and try to fit golf club bag? All other cars are convertibles? ...hum ? Also they are blatantly at an Audi dealership 😅). Truth TT8n without spoiler was dangerous car and required suspension upgrade and abs , spoiler and a heavy weight added behind the bumper to mitigate the loose light rear-end. Boxster was the better car with TT having better interior design and reliability. Not even the ultimate incarnation of TT the Quattro Sport could rival boxster . But it's still a win-win for the VAG group over both Z3 & SLK. TTmk1 timeless classic and interior still feel fresh in 2023 😊

Yup the video comparing the cars was an Audi sales training video, so take all with a pinch of salt. I've had 4 different 8N TTs in my life, currently have two of them in the garage. Your thoughts on the Boxster do ring true, I had one of those also see this video ruclips.net/video/kPrUDMx1R_o/видео.html it was fun until the infamous IMS bearing raised it's ugly head. At no point would anyone put the TT up with the Boxster from a performance stand point. But at $11K to have Flat-6 innovation's straighten out the problem with my Boxster engine would have purchased an entire other TT. Now here is a little video of my various TTs, if you also look around my RUclips channel you'll find I've had/modified/and loved many different automobiles, a lot of them Porsche's. Ultimately I can fix my various TTs in my garage without bankrupting myself. www.youtube.com/@hrg3design905
