    Every deer I've shot with the Norma whitetail fell straight over, grave yard dead.I absolutely hate tracking deer in heavy cover, and then try dragging them out.
    Federal fusion has the same results also.

    Me personally I'd use the hornady eld-x simply because of the interlock ring inside the jacket to keep the core locked in place. Norma would be a close second though.

    Nice setup, and nice shooting. I love the 6.5 Creedmoor. My wife and I both use this caliber to compete with at our local 1,000 range with excellent results (still have our .308's, they just don't get used as much). However, I load my own ammo using the Hornady 140 grain ELD bullets. Her setup is a Bergara BMP chassis rifle with a Geissele Super 700 trigger, a Sig Sauer Tango6 5-35x56 scope mounted on a 20MOA base, and an APA muzzle brake. Being left handed I built myself a custom AR10 with a heavy Krieger barrel topped with a Leupold 7-42x56 scope. Believe it or not, if I do my job right, it will beat the bolt guns. On a very calm day both rifles can shoot 1/2 MOA at 1,000 yards; unfortunately, very calm days never occur on match day!
    Thanks for another good video review!

      @@artillerybuff2000 I'm sure! Before we started this channel (2021), we would basically take our rifles to the range a couple of weeks before deer season and shoot them just to make sure they were still pretty close. We've learned a lot the past couple of years but still have a long way to go!

    U should prob shoot 5 shot groups because that will tell u more. Plus it will give u a chance to see how they group as the barrel gets hotter as well. I would say reshoot the normas and the fiocchi again but do 5 shot groups and whichever one shoots better go with that ammo…i am guessing the Norma will do better for u

    What size objective is that scope? Do you reccomend a 42mm, 44mm, or 50mm objective scope for this rifle for a women to get a proper cheek weld?

    • @ReviewThisThing
      @ReviewThisThing  3 месяца назад

      So this is a 4-12x50. Unfortunately, from my experience, most "hunter style" stocks aren't going to allow a proper cheek weld for most women. This scope is mounted with Low rings, so I really couldn't get any lower. One one rifle I have, I've used a fabric, velcro-on cheek riser. I've also put a Matthews Cheek Riser matthewsfabrication.com/?fbclid=IwAR1BVNeIcrx3BpQoijD6eOOIs2MGoDu30bsJzBaCjgiW-G08yBGrG1ZS-Tc on one of my rifles, and that works really well. I hope that helps.

  • @johnandrosemarywyatt977

    Go with the best bullet. The fiocci has the interlock bullet which stays together pretty well. The eld-x is expensive and the bullet is just a cup and core.

    I used to work at Barnes. The Sierra ammunition is loaded at Barnes' factory... Sierra had very tight specs that needed to be followed during loading and testing... Great ammo.

    As far as actual bullet performance within game and at whatever distance you usually shoot, does one bullet construction edge out another?

    • @ReviewThisThing
      @ReviewThisThing  6 месяцев назад

      That's a great question. Out of a 6.5CM we've had really good success with the Precision Hunter's on deer and pigs, but a lot of people will say otherwise. The Norma Whitetail have also done well. I think those are the main 2 we've hunted with. Most of our shots are within 200 yards. Most are within 100.

    • @sethmatherne7012
      @sethmatherne7012 6 месяцев назад

      @ReviewThisThing I have heard much the same. Do you think the bad rap is for any particular reason? Do you go for any particular shot placement?
      I have a 6.5cm and bought a case of of the eld-x. Would love to hear your thoughts as I have yet to pull the trigger on a deer yet. Maybe next year...

    • @ReviewThisThing
      @ReviewThisThing  6 месяцев назад +1

      @sethmatherne7012 most of what I hear that they are designed to perform at longer distances but closer in they separate too much. We’ve definitely had some deer not get a pass through and HAD they run far we may not have had a good blood trail - BUT they didn’t run far at all. We’ve only lost 1 (of several) with it, but that was because a shot was taken too far away with a gun that hadn’t really been tested to distance. Shot shouldn’t have been taken.
