I was at a live concert of this band in Japan, which was great. 6:35 This section is called "Shigin", a traditional reciting technique of Chinese/Japanese poems. Yuko was the former national champoion of this art. This part of lyrics is from a poem by Ouyang Xiu, 11th century Chinese poet. It says "a leopard's fur is so beautiful that people keep it lomg after its death, and like this, a man's name is long remembered by later pelple because of his fame and royalty during his lifetime." This citation fits well with the lyrics of the entire song.
Wagakki Band is awesome. Suzuhana is AMAZING. Everyone loves Beni on the shamisen, too! And Daisuke on the shakuhachi is always a fan favorite! Wasabi is a great drummer, and Machiya is fantastic on the guitar. WGB is a super-group of talent.
Glad u like Wagakki Band😀 Just incase u wanna know the name of the instruments. banjo kind → "Shamisen" (三味線) Japanese traditional harp → "Koto" (琴) Japanese traditional flute → "Syakuhachi" (尺八) Japanese traditional drums → "Taiko" or "Oodaiko” (太鼓 or 大太鼓”) The style that singer sings → "Shigin" style (詩吟) with modern style.
Nice reactionn man,,. Wait for more react of wagakki band,, this band is a hidden gem on the music world... Hope u can react more of them cz they hv plenty awesome stuff like senbonzakura n ignite Thank you
Wagakki band is an 8 pieces band, created in 2012, made of: - Suzuhana Yuuko: singer, but also fan and sword dancer - Machiya: lead guitar - Asa: bass - Wasabi: battery - Kurona: wadaiko (japanese drums) - Ibukuro Kiyoshi: koto (the horizontal like harp) - Ninagawa Beni: shamisen (the 3 string instrument that sounds a bit like a banjo); and the plectrum she is using is called a bachi and some of them can cost hundreds of $ each. I think, but I'm not sure, that the use of a plectrum comes as the strings were initially made of silk and if you didn't use that you would get badly cut - Kaminaga Daisuke: shakuhachi (the long bamboo flute) All members of the band are acclaimed players, and often certified teachers, of their respective instruments. And if they are very good on MV, they are even better when playing live. There's plenty of their live video
Definitely my favourite Japanese band. These guys are great The only instrument I know is the Koto, which is the multi string instrument which is laying horizontal.

You should check out the version of Bring Me to Life with Wagakki Band and Amy Lee. Possibly the best version of the song out there. They also did a song with Amy called Sakura Rising which is also pretty good.
The pick that Beni uses on her Shamisen is called a Bachi which represents a fan.

Their live concerts are the best. Life changing experiences. I hope I can attend one of their concerts in the near future.
