  • It's the final segment! Da-da-da-daaa, da-da-da-da-daaa, da-da-da-daaa, da-da-da-da-daaa...(name that tune!) We finished up our Colorado Trail journey with Segment 28. This segment starts at the Kennebec TH (accessible by 4x4 vehicles) and starts the steep decent of over 6,500 ft down into Durango. The first part of the trail is marked by exposure and talus slopes, but as you head into treeline you'll be greeted by nice dirt and pine floors as well as hiking along creeks and streams (hello water!). Be aware that the last couple of miles can be quite draining as there are a lot of mountain bikes, rocks, and "false" trailhead ending, but know you're almost there!

    Loved this segment….so beautiful and the music the first 4 miles was so beautiful and fitting.
    I got a little choked up as you crossed the finish line with such mixed feelings. 1. So proud of you for completing such an amazing and difficult trail. 2. So happy and relieved you crossed it safely. 🙏🏼 🤣 I’ve enjoyed watching your adventures. Can’t wait for more. 🥰

      The Amazing Alaskan Adventure! Going to attempt an overlanding/road-trip to Denali and back. Will travel a couple days, then base camp, explore, base camp, etc. We’ll see if I can pull it off.

      @@DoseofDirt was thinking of a couple options like that. One idea I had was to make a “ soundtrack” video. Compilation of songs with just the hiking in the background.

    I know you were carrying a lot of weight at times (dog food), have you tried freeze dried dog food. It's pretty expensive but really light. Would be too expensive on a long distance hike, but for a 4-5 day trip saves a lot of weight.

    • @GIRLplusDOGAdventures
      @GIRLplusDOGAdventures  2 года назад

      I usually sub some of the freeze dried chicken but it’s also not as nutrient dense so I have a hard time justifying the trade off as the food source. However, for his snacks and lunch I would do the dehydrated chicken strips and protein biscuits. Tried also not to carry a bunch of smelly foods for bear safety,
