- the night stalker update arrived and it has ups and downs. I love campto and it's ability. it seems pretty OP tho. the quest update on the other hand is ridiculous. even more annoying is a new message which is shown every time you turn off the HUD. anyway, we had fun with our cutie ;-)

Campto was already one of my favorite dinos but with this rework i love it even more!
honestly, I didn't play it before as I'm still new to PoT. but, this ability is awesome and so fun to hop around XD

Honestly i prefer the hop even though it seems op. Sometimes i dont want to fight just chill and watch others fight LOL i love the bunny/kanga hops so much
I love it, too. such a fun ability and the animation is quite nice as well still OP tho, but, the game isn't well balanced by now in general, so, who cares
mix packing for herbis should be allowed to an extent, herding and all that.
I miss to herd with other herbs, too.
The quest haven't changed but what makes it good is that you can do a bunch of quest then when you collect it's so satisfying because you have like half a growth stage of growth
I read that the quests will become an update. therefore I expected new interesting quests and not a minor change like that. people are different and if you and others enjoy this system, then I'm happy. personally, I get no satisfaction out of collecting them.
Campto should have a strong kick like a kangaroo, kangaroo's can disembowel people with one kick
if I had to choose between a kick and hop away, I would go for hop away. but, I wouldn't mind if it gets a kick as well.
Well even if he had a kick it will do 0 damge to apexes allo ycno and like almost any dino
I am cleaning a campto right now, the most complete I have ever seen.
what does cleaning a campto mean?

The funny part is that you spawned in a reworked area of the map .-. Lol the two major places is sharp tooth marsh (it looks like a beautiful swamp) and young grove (little waterfall and pools its a sanctuary for small dinos or babys now)
Campto is a fun dino to play to mess with people but it cant really hold its own in a fight so having the hop lets it get away easier although deff could use a cool down increase
Ill give you a summary of whats changed
Sucho has a new ability to deal more damage to wet dinos along with some balancing
Sarco has the ambusher ability and also has a land dash ability it can use to catch or run from almost anything at a major stam cost
Laten has many new buffs and is alot stronger during night times in large enough packs they can take down large prey easily if coordinated
Stego has a stam regen buff during the day
Dasp has a new attack along with increase attack damage
Cera has lost its bonebreak but gained a new charged damage bite and has a better ability to jump and take fall damage (capable to run down pachys its a good counter to them along with fast med teir dinos)
The metri has putrid scales that inflicts poision on the attacker and also has nighttime buffs
Meg has a few new abilities along with venom immunity
These are just off the top of my head they are adding alot of new stuff in the near future thats why you have empty slots currently and the ability to claim quest allows for adults to stock up on them an turn them in when they die or to better save marks to not lose them when they die
Some of the stuff they are working on is that the denion (small raptor) is getting a ability to rip meat chunks off living players
The conc is getting a jumping attack
Herbs with stomp are getting it changed to dealing aoe damage
Alot is changing so id say expect changes with what dinosaurs you see more of
omg, I read that stego mountain and rainbow hills got a rework. should have done a better research :/

El campto no debe tener un enfriamiento en el salto, porque si es un dinosaurio de los mas debiles le viene bien poder usar esa habilidad para escapar o desplazarse, aparte de que esa habilidad no garantiza que se valla a escapar siempre, puede fallar al ser interrumpida si choca con un obstaculo o si es acorralado en un espacio estrecho.
Entonces que por lo menos le dejen esa habilidad.
Lo mismo con el Structumimus que es el dinosaurio mas rapido para correr pero su ataque tiene mucho enfriamiento.
Si se les quita eso quedan muy debiles.

The new ability for campto is so much fun BUT I agree with your opinion about the quests, I was hoping new quests but it's the same old same old yet again, I really wish they would make more unique quests and not the endless collect, deliver and replenish quest, they are really really boring and that why I play in passive growth server too, just not in Islanders because I don't like too many rules. I like being able to mixpack with different herbies so when they can't it just feels dumb.

hop away is hilarious. I love it and even the animation is very nice. yeah, I don't like that herbs can't mixpack, too. on what server do you play? can you recommend a passive grow server?
@@da.mombie After my long growth in official server I really saw how repetitive the quests are 😂 Bars growth was the one that really broke me lmao. I play in Life Finds A Way, there you can mixpack ofc herbi and carni are not allowed to mixpack but herbies can mix with each other and same carnis, there is body down rule ofc but less rules than on Islanders. Only one mod there and that is nyctatyrannus. But if you die you lose almost whole growth stage, so dying is very punishing there, I kinda like it because then you really don't want to die XD for example I was adult and died and I was at the beginning of sub adult growth when I respawned 😆

yeah, I didn't mind the quest much at first, as they were useful to explore the map. but, after growing 2-3 dinos it became so boring to pick thousands of objects over and over ^^

you love it? I hate it. I even had fog once. how shoudl I choose my colours that way?
A speed metri or cera who stay persistent will eventually catch up to you since they have stamina thay can out last yours. Once a metri gets his venom on you it is over lol
eventually, hop away should give you a lead which is big enough to regain some stam between tho

If u die with unclaimed quests u keep them so u can claim them back wen u respawn 😊
uhm, ok. but, if I would have got it directly after I did the quest, then I wouldn't need to collect it anymore and it wouldn't matter if I die as well ;-)

Hello Mombie, fun video! Agree about the weird direction they are going with those boring quests. Oh, just thought you should know.. your HUD has been hidden 😉 sorry I couldn't resist the joke 🙂 but seriously, what an unbelievably annoying notification.
I hate stuff like that HUD message. you know why? it shows me that the devs are no gamers at all. they are code writer. like guys who write codes for windows or any kind of SAP software. are you sure you want to delete this file? they don't know anything about gaming experience and you can feel it in so many parts of the game. this HUD message is just the tip of the iceberg. anyway, thx mate ♥ wish you a nice sunday
@@da.mombie What a perfect way to put it. You've 100% nailed down the problem with some games these days. It's too often a job instead of a passion. On top of that, experience writing good code does not mean experience making good games.
@@Eli-kt3td that's why I love indie studios. when I grew up, most games were written by 2-5 people. you had so many unique games with weird humor. like the lukas art games (maniac mansion, monkey island and so on).
then the big studios took over. ubisoft, EA and so on. stockholders came in and the most important was to sell as much as possible. so, games felt more and more the same.
best example is the uncharted series. when it was released I was so sick of tomb raider. there were already 4 or 5 tomb raider parts. then uncharted was hyped and I was like, what? that is the exact same game like tomb raider. just with a guy instead of a woman.
smaller series like silent hunter got crushed by ubisoft, 'cause it didn't sell enough numbers. so, better part X of a popular series, 'cause we know we will sell millions of it. many niche genres were dying. it was the time I almost quit gaming.
then steam started it's early access system and since then many little studios came up with unique ideas. the isle is a good example. no big studio would ever touch such a genre. 'cause you don't reach the same amount of players like with AC part 10.
PoT is a small studio, but, it feels like a big one. they push on all devices (incl. mobile, the biggest market), they push many dinos to impress people, advertise with quests and hundred abilities. even if most of them feel far from ready. they even feel like placeholders.
I really hope I am wrong and the PoT devs are awesome and want nothing else but make us players happy. but, it doesn't feel like that. it feels like they do it for money first and foremost.

@@da.mombie Me too my friend :) I'm 40 now so I have a lot of the same memories of how gaming has changed over the years.
I was just over on reddit earlier today complaining about how Ubisoft has locked up might and magic and done nothing with it. speaking of indy games to the rescue UBOAT is a promising independent submarine game a bit like silent hunter.
I've given up on most of those AAA prestige games as they really all feel the same.
But I've not got bored with games and as you say independent games have been where the real passion and innovation's come from.
I think a good example of a studio that has done a good job of straddling the line to stay passionate while getting big is double fine, I've loved watching the documentary about their game design process.
I wonder if the Jurassic world movies starting to take off had any influence on the decision to make a dino game. Could just be because I hadn't heard of POT until so late but to me it does feel like a project that is chasing money instead of the game they wanted to make.
It seems inverters are always looking for any scheme to dump their money into and then use soulless formula to make as much more as mathematically possible. For a long time games have been the fastest growing area for investment, lately Crypto and NFT's became a money black hole. Depressingly some folks realized they could combine them all together :P
I'm very happy that dark trend is not taking off, most people have reasonable limits after all :)
Hope they ditch the formula and start to listen to the players instead, start to play and enjoy their own game a bit and maybe we all will too :P

I love that ability. one of the most fun in the whole game
the collect reward on quests change is actually good
you can save uncollected quests that stay there after you die, so in a sense, you can now save growth and marks infinitely and never worry about them when dying
trophy quests are also saved, so you can use them to grow every time you die by just hitting a button

to safe your growth makes kind of sense.
They will be removing uncollected quests when you die in a patch

While I was playing smilodon there was a compto that was trolling me it just was 3 calling and when I chased it it was just too fast

I love the hop away ability and wouldn't change it for a kick. in my opinion campto isn't weak, it's OP. nobody can catch you. personally I love to escape with herbs. campto is a runaway and for a runaway it is way too strong. almost boring to play, 'cause you barely get a proper chase :/

I play on Islander's semi realism server. there is a link to his discord (for the rules) in the video description. it has passive grow and some modded dino. no crazy (hyper) ones tho. just the likes of dilo, theri and so on ;-)

@@snowleopard4167 I didn't stop the time exactly, but, within one hour. it grew very fast. I don't even do local quests. just find food and find location quests and it was below one hour. so, I guess you can even rush it within 30-40 minutes? (incl. local quests). can't say for sure tho.
In my opinion, Campto's Hop ability needs to have some sort of downside, especially for how fast the cooldown is. I would say I'd like to see a 'tired' status effect after the ability is used, a timer that stops you from running for a bit after the Hop ability has been used, the duration is dependent on how long the ability was used for. I'd also like to see them toy with the idea of abilities like that and charge possibly draining water and/or food faster whilst they are in use as movements like that would be taxing on the animal's body.
I agree, at least a longer cooldown or anything you said. it's very strong, needs less stam (almost the same as running) and with that cooldown you can use it over and over. I guess, at least 7-8 times before you run out of stam. you are on the other side of the isle after 8 hops XD

Yeah that HUD thing is extremely distracting. I ended up looking at it every single time it popped up. Things like that actually make it harder to pay attention
I mostly play without HUD. but, often use it for a second or two to see in what direction I walk (like north, south and so on). so, I switch for one second to the hud and have 5 seconds this message. which tells me I should use a key that I already used 1.000 times in this game. and like you, I always look at it and get angry EVERYTIME it pops up.
