Stir test - how homogenized is your glaze?

How much do you mix your glaze before glazing? Do you stir manually or high-speed mix? How do you know when your glaze is homogenized so you can stop mixing and start glazing?
It's important that our glazes are mixed really well before glazing so all the water isn't at the top of the bucket with most of the heavy glaze materials still sitting at the bottom.
