Supernatural actually did a joke episode regarding its fanbase. Dean and Sam learned that some had started writing books about their travels, and it had spawned a fandom. The Winchesters attend a meetup due to a paranormal problem and see people dressed as them with '67 Impala replicas. I loved what they did with Lyra and BonBon.... excuse me... special agent Sweetie Drops. Why content themselves with mere pandering, when they can troll the horseapples out of us? Instead of settling the question of whether they're dating or merely friends, they dump a freight train of ammunition to both sides of the debate and laugh their asses off while the internet is set aflame. And of course there's the whole 'let's throw something crazy weird into the mix and bring a trillion fan canons to flaming ruin' thing by making BonBon a secret agent.

She is also the mare rainbow dash gets into the peanut butter jar incident during the mysterious mare do well.

I just want to say thank you for your reviews, I enjoy them very much, and I have now watched several movies and shows I loved because I saw them here. So many people are ripping this episode apart for having so much fan service. Personally I think it is the perfect balance of entertaining mixed with fan service that makes it great and one of the best episodes of the series.

That mare you asked about was Amethyst Star. The basic fan idea of her is she is Dinky's sister, because we saw them compete in Sisterhoof's social. Which means some fans, myself included, headcannon is she is Derpy's daughter. But other than that, she was just a background pony with nothing special about her. One of the weaker parts of the episode in my opinion.
wolf25ph I agree. I was honestly surprised that she got a speaking role, while more popular characters like for instance Colgate/Minuette or Berry Punch didnt get any lines. Also they could atleast make some sort of reference to dinky, even if its subtle, but Dinky wasnt in this episode AT ALL.

That purple pony is Amethyst. Did you catch the "Jump the Shark" reference was Octavia and Vinyl went through the town? Also one of my friends called the Gummy moment a "Big Eye Alligator Moment" as a reference to Nostalgia Critic's "Big Lipped Alligator Moment", which would make it even more hilarious if that was true. That's my favorite moment of the episode. I've seen so many reactions where people's mouths dropped open. I can't help but wonder if the MSP crowd had the same reaction to that footage when they showed this episode there lol.
I fucking love this amazing episode/Epic fan service. I was very happy that Cranky and Matilda because I loved the backstory in the episode A Friend in Need. I love that Derpy's first attempt to apologize is to offer muffins. I love that Derpy hired Featherweight to make the invitations. Derpy is fucking adorable the Doctor's personality is great and I love their interaction. I love that Vinyl in this also wears headphones all the time. I do think she can read lips and knew where to find someone who could help the Doctor. I love the Big Lebowski ponies and that they addressed how weird the word man is in MLP. I bet someone is going to check if the equation works out. I love that even with the elaborate math the Doctor never thought to throw straight. I love Kazumi Evans performance as Octavia and the meta mention of friendship problems aka episodes take about 30 minutes. I like the design of the bug bear and love the parts of the battle we see. I find it hilarious that Amethyst's job was stolen by Twilight Sparkle. I love the flower trio in this episode. I love Lyra and Bon-Bon's voices and personalities. Also being sarcastic here just friends my white half-Irish ass. I love that they found a way to give Bon-Bon her original and fan name. I also love her backstory and it unintentionally makes sense because in the episode It's about Time Bon-Bon is in the background looking out a window at Cerberus. I also love how nonchalant ponyville has become about monsters. Steven Magnate was great and kind of insensitive. Although he is right about most people at weddings. I love that Cranky and Steven are friends and apparently go on crazy adventures and that Steven is his best ma- pon- beast. I love that Vinyl and Octavia are roommates and that half the house is designed by Vinyl and half is designed by Octavia. I think the head canon that Vinyl is mute might be canon but I'm holding out hope that legal circumstances change to allow Nowacking to voice her. I love the interaction between them even though Vinyl never speaks. The classical dubstep they play in this scene and the next is amazing. I love that the show made the bass cannon canon and mobile. I think literally seconds after they leave the house blink and you'll miss it they jump a shark. I love that during one character snapshot Berry Punch has a barrel that I assume is filled with booze. Also during the quick scrolling which I did not see when watching if you pause at the right frame there is a live action picture of 4 people in horse and unicorn masks. I love that Gummy is a philosophical genius and it explains why he barely does anything. Also if you look at his eyes the crash is going in slow-mo. I love the interactions between Luna and Celestia in the wedding scene because it’s so normal. I think Shining Armor cries at weddings because of what almost happened at his. I love that Steven did for Cranky what Rarity did for him. I love the relationships of Lyra and Bon-Bon and Derpy and the Doctor. I laughed my ass off when Derpy locked out the mane 6. I love the mayor’s speech/episode lesson and how meta it is. I think the Changeling is the one from A Canterlot Wedding that fell in Equestria unlike the rest that Matilda found injured, nursed it back to health and befriended it. This is because it was confirmed it is Matilda’s friend. Also Doctor Whooves says love activating the fireworks was obvious, sitting in front of the princess of love who is rolling her eyes. I love that the mane 6 only had 3 lines the entire episode. I have to say this could be the best episode in the entire show. ∞/∞Perfect Episode.

I like that this episode gave characterization for Bon Bon over Lyra, mostly because the fans already have their own interpretation of the latter whereas the former is mostly defined by her relationship to the latter. It helps to expand on the two.
As someone who's just recently getting into this show and just watched all your old reviews for fun, it makes me both very happy to see the fandom in this way, and very sad that I missed so much of it.
4:22 you know what would make that mini-scene 10X better (just a rough estimate)? If Bon bon's spy lines were just inside Lyra's bored head. and then we panned out of her eye, just to see Bon bon looking at her like she was a lost cause.
A moment I liked (although not as much as the ones here) was Steven giving Cranky half his mustache, he probably learned it from Rarity/it's like we came full circle!
It took a minute for everything in the preopening to sink in. And by everything, I mean the fact that You-Know-Who spoke. I was just staring into space and then it hit me. "...HOLY DODONGOS! SHE TALKED!"
oh god this episode. awesome! what i do like is that they actually gave potential characterization for these ponies, the best being the doctor, derpy, vinyl and octavia. the fact they are voiced by the mane six voice actors and others who are in the hsow, such as the doc being voiced by big mac, would allow them to use them more consistently. no need for highering guest voice actors. also a lot of the time these concepts did in fact fit. someone trying to focus more on science than magic? makes sense, though seems futile. i utterly loved the hwole secret agent bon bon thing. it was random, hilarious, yet at the same time makes sense that in a world full o monsters, they would have some organization to help fight em. also the symbol on her briefcase is the same one on that book daring do had.
The Unicorn was Amethyst Star, an organizer pony like Twilight, she is mostly known from the background, for example when she stares into the camera on the street in "Lesson Zero"

I actually have another view on the Vinyl Scratch/Octavia scene that I probably mentioned before on another 100th episode celebration vid but I'll say it here since that's my favourite scene: It's a thank you to all the Brony musicians and remixers! That's right! Octavia, to me, represents the original musicians, like the original songwriters of the show as well as the Brony musicians while Vinyl represents the remixers so this is a thanks to all of them from the creators!
Saw this at MLP MSP. Had great laugh with friends. All in all, it was a fantastic episode that because of where and how I watched it, and all implications as well, it will be forever in my Top Ten favorite episodes of all time.
The Vinyl/Octavia electric cello dubstep was actually performed for the show by professional cellist Tina Guo. She has some wonderful music uploaded on RUclips, including a gorgeous cover of "Oogway Ascends" from Kung Fu Panda.
you are right about people wanting the gummy scene to be higher ;) Gummy didn't just "steal" the episode. He kidnapped it, cut it into little pieces, sold the little pieces for ransom, stole the little pieces again and then made a Frankenstein a like monster out of them. From all the reactions video I saw, this was the moment witch hit always critical on those reacting. It was pure glory.^^
As someone who isn't enveloped in the weird world of the MLP fandom (not knocking you if you are, it's just that I'm not. I just like the show), I LOVED this episode. It was hilarious, fun, and had so many callbacks I only got half of them after I rewatched the whole show on Netflix for the 80th time.

I loved this episode. It was an epic overload. There's nothing about it that I didn't like. Several times my jaw drop and I had just barely managed to pick it back up when something else would happen and it'd drop again. seriously. I mean. Derpy TALKING and getting an awesome role and pairing her with the Doctor and THE DOCTOR. and he talked and the whole Lyra/bon bon, and then Vinyl and Octavia. That scene! My gosh, that scene. I loved that music mix scene. And the sea monster, and just EVERYTHING! The only thing that made me raise an eye brow was the 'bug bear' which I kept calling a 'bear bee', but whatever. It was almost like Discord came through with some crazy fandom chaos overload and he wasn't even in the episode. That made me a bit sad, but he would have stolen the show probably, so Yay for so many awesome background ponies!

Changelings feed on love and a wedding is a special occasion of bringing two people together (or in this case two donkeys together) in love so that is way their is a changeling at Matilda and Cranky Doodle Donkey’s wedding.
It would've also been funny if the mane six weren't locked out of the wedding, but when they got inside one of them asked "Where will we sit?", and then Twilight replied "Mmm, let's just sit somewhere in the background".
Okay, so the pony you didn't know about is one Amethyst "Sparkler" Star. As far as how important she is to the fandom, she appeared with Dinky Doo in Sisterhooves Social, leading many to believe that she is the second of Derpy's daughters, though mostly as adopted. I've seen other interpretations, but this tends to be the most common.
Couple of things I sort'a picked up on that so far I don't think anyone else has. Gummy's monologue is very reminiscent of the one Hunter S. Thompson did in 'Fear and Loathing'. And Doctor Whooves' reaction to the Bug Bear, is very much in keeping the way The Doctor would react to monsters in the BBC TV show. How many times did he use the term, "Oh your beautiful!" Upon seeing some rampaging monster?
"Professor Frink! Professor Frink! He makes you laugh, he makes you think!" Darn. That bug bear will pay. I'm making Great Wickering Stallions my unofficial catchphrase. I don't need this meta-,self-referencing humor all the time, but for the 100 this was wonderfully. Bon Bon/Sweetie Drops, The Doctor, the Dude, Octavia and Vinyl going full Lindsey Sterling. All of it 20% more awesome. Thanks for explaining the Steven Magnet. I knew it was referencing something but not the faintest clue what. I did get a kick out of Rose sitting next to the Doctor. And of course him being completely clueless to her. I think Doctor Hooves was a good amalgam of 10 and 11. Oh and pronouncing them jack and jenny is horse humor I will always appreciate.
As many references as there throwing into the show these days,could you imagine them parodying an anime? Like,have an episode about giant monsters threatening(insert pony capital here,cause for the life of me i cant remember its name) and the only thing that can stop them are three ponies who pilot three jet type vehicles that can combine to form a giant equine robot. Basically a Getter Robo reference.
Argh, stuff like this always manages to make me feel bad about being tough on this episode XP I guess to me, problems like the speech being forced were present throughout (some of the stories abruptly cutting away without establishing if we should still care, Bon Bon and Lyra telling us they're best friends at least 4 times without actually showing us any of the ways in which they're friends, etc.). That, and I'm not quite as big on the fan material. Of course, even I still enjoyed it for what it was. I guess I'm just more in that crowd you mentioned at 0:45 And if you haven't heard it a bunch of times already, your pony at 6:47 is peanut butter pony from Mysterious Mare Do Well, who the wiki says is named Amethyst Star.

I've already said this repeatedly (to the point of copying and pasting most of it), but comparing the changeling to the filly's and the chairs it appears that might be a young-ling. (They seriously need to follow up on that) Best royal sisters moment's ever! Also, secret agent Bon Bon..... Bluescreen Something else I really liked about this episode is that the main six was not oblivious to what was going on around them and thereby making them look self-centered. by making them aware about the wedding and what twilight said at the end shows that their group is not cut off from the rest of the world. But why did that pony have the twilight cane?

Gungelion Something to note about this episode is that it fully establishes the characters personalities and because of that any episode which would feature them will not have to spend half of its time introducing them. Furthermore any interactions with the background characters at any time can now seem more fluid.

XD They might as well have let Fluttershy say "Hush now, it's alright." after defeating the Bugbear. But they could have made Rainbow Dash crash-land in a cardboard box during the fight and then film her from above.

I just want to say thank you for your reviews, I enjoy them very much, and I have now watched several movies and shows I loved because I saw them here. So many people are ripping this episode apart for having so much fan service. Personally I think it is the perfect balance of entertaining mixed with fan service that makes it great and one of the best episodes of the series.

That mare you asked about was Amethyst Star. The basic fan idea of her is she is Dinky's sister, because we saw them compete in Sisterhoof's social. Which means some fans, myself included, headcannon is she is Derpy's daughter. But other than that, she was just a background pony with nothing special about her. One of the weaker parts of the episode in my opinion.
wolf25ph I agree. I was honestly surprised that she got a speaking role, while more popular characters like for instance Colgate/Minuette or Berry Punch didnt get any lines. Also they could atleast make some sort of reference to dinky, even if its subtle, but Dinky wasnt in this episode AT ALL.

That purple pony is Amethyst. Did you catch the "Jump the Shark" reference was Octavia and Vinyl went through the town? Also one of my friends called the Gummy moment a "Big Eye Alligator Moment" as a reference to Nostalgia Critic's "Big Lipped Alligator Moment", which would make it even more hilarious if that was true. That's my favorite moment of the episode. I've seen so many reactions where people's mouths dropped open. I can't help but wonder if the MSP crowd had the same reaction to that footage when they showed this episode there lol.
I fucking love this amazing episode/Epic fan service. I was very happy that Cranky and Matilda because I loved the backstory in the episode A Friend in Need. I love that Derpy's first attempt to apologize is to offer muffins. I love that Derpy hired Featherweight to make the invitations. Derpy is fucking adorable the Doctor's personality is great and I love their interaction. I love that Vinyl in this also wears headphones all the time. I do think she can read lips and knew where to find someone who could help the Doctor. I love the Big Lebowski ponies and that they addressed how weird the word man is in MLP. I bet someone is going to check if the equation works out. I love that even with the elaborate math the Doctor never thought to throw straight. I love Kazumi Evans performance as Octavia and the meta mention of friendship problems aka episodes take about 30 minutes. I like the design of the bug bear and love the parts of the battle we see. I find it hilarious that Amethyst's job was stolen by Twilight Sparkle. I love the flower trio in this episode. I love Lyra and Bon-Bon's voices and personalities. Also being sarcastic here just friends my white half-Irish ass. I love that they found a way to give Bon-Bon her original and fan name. I also love her backstory and it unintentionally makes sense because in the episode It's about Time Bon-Bon is in the background looking out a window at Cerberus. I also love how nonchalant ponyville has become about monsters. Steven Magnate was great and kind of insensitive. Although he is right about most people at weddings. I love that Cranky and Steven are friends and apparently go on crazy adventures and that Steven is his best ma- pon- beast. I love that Vinyl and Octavia are roommates and that half the house is designed by Vinyl and half is designed by Octavia. I think the head canon that Vinyl is mute might be canon but I'm holding out hope that legal circumstances change to allow Nowacking to voice her. I love the interaction between them even though Vinyl never speaks. The classical dubstep they play in this scene and the next is amazing. I love that the show made the bass cannon canon and mobile. I think literally seconds after they leave the house blink and you'll miss it they jump a shark. I love that during one character snapshot Berry Punch has a barrel that I assume is filled with booze. Also during the quick scrolling which I did not see when watching if you pause at the right frame there is a live action picture of 4 people in horse and unicorn masks. I love that Gummy is a philosophical genius and it explains why he barely does anything. Also if you look at his eyes the crash is going in slow-mo. I love the interactions between Luna and Celestia in the wedding scene because it’s so normal. I think Shining Armor cries at weddings because of what almost happened at his. I love that Steven did for Cranky what Rarity did for him. I love the relationships of Lyra and Bon-Bon and Derpy and the Doctor. I laughed my ass off when Derpy locked out the mane 6. I love the mayor’s speech/episode lesson and how meta it is. I think the Changeling is the one from A Canterlot Wedding that fell in Equestria unlike the rest that Matilda found injured, nursed it back to health and befriended it. This is because it was confirmed it is Matilda’s friend. Also Doctor Whooves says love activating the fireworks was obvious, sitting in front of the princess of love who is rolling her eyes. I love that the mane 6 only had 3 lines the entire episode. I have to say this could be the best episode in the entire show.

I like that this episode gave characterization for Bon Bon over Lyra, mostly because the fans already have their own interpretation of the latter whereas the former is mostly defined by her relationship to the latter. It helps to expand on the two.

4:22 you know what would make that mini-scene 10X better (just a rough estimate)? If Bon bon's spy lines were just inside Lyra's bored head. and then we panned out of her eye, just to see Bon bon looking at her like she was a lost cause.

A moment I liked (although not as much as the ones here) was Steven giving Cranky half his mustache, he probably learned it from Rarity/it's like we came full circle!
It took a minute for everything in the preopening to sink in. And by everything, I mean the fact that You-Know-Who spoke. I was just staring into space and then it hit me.

what i do like is that they actually gave potential characterization for these ponies, the best being the doctor, derpy, vinyl and octavia. the fact they are voiced by the mane six voice actors and others who are in the hsow, such as the doc being voiced by big mac, would allow them to use them more consistently. no need for highering guest voice actors.
also a lot of the time these concepts did in fact fit. someone trying to focus more on science than magic? makes sense, though seems futile.
i utterly loved the hwole secret agent bon bon thing. it was random, hilarious, yet at the same time makes sense that in a world full o monsters, they would have some organization to help fight em.
also the symbol on her briefcase is the same one on that book daring do had.
And here I thought I'd found all the great pony analysists/reviewers - Good to know this fandom can still surprise me.
The Unicorn was Amethyst Star, an organizer pony like Twilight, she is mostly known from the background, for example when she stares into the camera on the street in "Lesson Zero"

I actually have another view on the Vinyl Scratch/Octavia scene that I probably mentioned before on another 100th episode celebration vid but I'll say it here since that's my favourite scene:
It's a thank you to all the Brony musicians and remixers! That's right! Octavia, to me, represents the original musicians, like the original songwriters of the show as well as the Brony musicians while Vinyl represents the remixers so this is a thanks to all of them from the creators!

Saw this at MLP MSP. Had great laugh with friends. All in all, it was a fantastic episode that because of where and how I watched it, and all implications as well, it will be forever in my Top Ten favorite episodes of all time.

Gummy didn't just "steal" the episode. He kidnapped it, cut it into little pieces, sold the little pieces for ransom, stole the little pieces again and then made a Frankenstein a like monster out of them.

As someone who isn't enveloped in the weird world of the MLP fandom (not knocking you if you are, it's just that I'm not. I just like the show), I LOVED this episode. It was hilarious, fun, and had so many callbacks I only got half of them after I rewatched the whole show on Netflix for the 80th time.
I'm happy you've evolved as much as you have. The 1st time I heard of you was on Glodenfox's Simple Ways review. You didn't have many videos up then, and even after a while you didn't have many videos. Now you've gotten to doing semi-regular video updates. I loved this episode. It was an epic overload. There's nothing about it that I didn't like. Several times my jaw drop and I had just barely managed to pick it back up when something else would happen and it'd drop again. seriously. I mean. Derpy TALKING and getting an awesome role and pairing her with the Doctor and THE DOCTOR. and he talked and the whole Lyra/bon bon, and then Vinyl and Octavia. That scene! My gosh, that scene. I loved that music mix scene. And the sea monster, and just EVERYTHING! The only thing that made me raise an eye brow was the 'bug bear' which I kept calling a 'bear bee', but whatever. It was almost like Discord came through with some crazy fandom chaos overload and he wasn't even in the episode. That made me a bit sad, but he would have stolen the show probably, so Yay for so many awesome background ponies!

Changelings feed on love and a wedding is a special occasion of bringing two people together (or in this case two donkeys together) in love so that is way their is a changeling at Matilda and Cranky Doodle Donkey’s wedding.
Rose being used instead of Derpy was a reference to Rose Tyler from the 2005 Dr Who revival.

Okay, so the pony you didn't know about is one Amethyst "Sparkler" Star. As far as how important she is to the fandom, she appeared with Dinky Doo in Sisterhooves Social, leading many to believe that she is the second of Derpy's daughters, though mostly as adopted. I've seen other interpretations, but this tends to be the most common.
Mlp has already had a cross over episode with the Power Puff Girls.

Couple of things I sort'a picked up on that so far I don't think anyone else has.
Gummy's monologue is very reminiscent of the one Hunter S. Thompson did in 'Fear and Loathing'.
And Doctor Whooves' reaction to the Bug Bear, is very much in keeping the way The Doctor would react to monsters in the BBC TV show. How many times did he use the term, "Oh your beautiful!" Upon seeing some rampaging monster?

I guess to me, problems like the speech being forced were present throughout (some of the stories abruptly cutting away without establishing if we should still care, Bon Bon and Lyra telling us they're best friends at least 4 times without actually showing us any of the ways in which they're friends, etc.). That, and I'm not quite as big on the fan material.
Of course, even I still enjoyed it for what it was. I guess I'm just more in that crowd you mentioned at 0:45

Something else I really liked about this episode is that the main six was not oblivious to what was going on around them and thereby making them look self-centered. by making them aware about the wedding and what twilight said at the end shows that their group is not cut off from the rest of the world.

Oh my god i came here becuse i had to hear someone besides me praise this epidsod. I just saw it and it was so amazing. It was so good that I teared up, like how am I gonna watch the next episode after somthing THAT fantastic
