  • How to Configure Hyper-V Replication on Windows Server 2019 - Video 18 Windows Server 2019 Training.
Hello world if you want to learn more about network security, IT, or anything related to technology let me know and let us all learn together. Watch my videos on my channel for more cool content about IT topics.
Hyper-V is Microsoft's hardware virtualization product. It lets you create and run a software version of a computer, called a virtual machine. Each virtual machine acts like a complete computer, running an operating system, and programs. When you need computing resources, virtual machines give you more flexibility, help save time and money, and are a more efficient way to use hardware than just running one operating system on physical hardware.
This is a playlist of Windows Server 2019 training. I will be uploading videos in order to get started in the system administration world with Windows Server 2019. This gets you prepared for an IT Sysadmin role. Please watch the videos in order to understand the process and configuration.

Great video, we had an issue where one of our techs booted up the wrong server and messed up replication, we now have our file server just on the secondary and cancelled replication. How do we move it back so it is back on the primary? :)

Hi, great training videos. just gonna ask what happened to the data when the replica server take over? do the changes will be copied to the main server / vm after you restore them?

Are you planning on doing a server for Direct Access? I need to work on that for a school project but a video would be very helpful :)

Great video, however, MS Hyper-V host's VM machine Replication is manually doing, as well as its Failover. Can we make them Auto?

Thanks for the video. learnt a lot. However, in the second scenario when the server hardware fails say HDD. We have to do a fresh install on windows on the host. How do we go about restoring the primary VMS with replication

    Great video again, many thanks!
But I have a question...isn't it possible to do the planned and/or unplanned failover on the Hyper-V Server(s) itself rather than doing it individually on the clients?

Thank you so much I appreciate it. And you’re very welcome. Yes it is possible to do that as well. You’re right about that. It’s just the way that I did it in this video. I appreciate your comment thank you.

Please copy data on the replica server and merge it as you described. The data that was created on the replica is missing on the primary server.

Bada Bing! Cool video Pat. I made this far on the Video Series, unfortunately, wasn't able to do it this time due to limited resources on my laptop. So I just followed along with the video instead.

Shouldn't you be configuring an internal network just for Hyper-V replica traffic? Having your replication traffic go across the same traffic as management and VM traffic is going to be a bad time. Also, without an internal switch enabled on VM's, they will be capped at 1 gigabit network speed between them instead of max disk speed of an array.

What tool are you using to jump between RDP connections?

  • @bitstop2003

Can HyperV replication be done without AD? I encounter the "connection terminated abnormally" error when using the Kerberos in a non AD environment. I will try to shift to using server certificates

Found a link that showed how to use Powershell to take the place of makecert.exe and followed it to the letter. It works!
