Very much classier! Absolutely the look (perceived quality) went down with the mesh. Someone rightly mentioned it looked like an RX-7. (Not slamming the Mazda, only to say let the Mazda be Mazda, & let the Porsche be Porsche.)
Love this, Ethan. You're absolutely right - the tiny jobs feel great. It's those little fixes that make the car a nicer place to be. I find HUGE satisfaction in refreshing even the smallest of trim pieces on my E46.
Nothing to be ashamed of with that improvised rear wiper delete. Looks good & well put together. If desired, the screw's head could be dabbed with black touch up paint to hide the silver.
- All these classic 80’s and 90’s cars, I forgot I had first hand experience driving many when they were brand new, when I was in college. (yes I am old now) One was a 1989 944 turbo S my friend owned. Fast, great handling, solid. Lots of turbo lag, but shifted amazing. Good memories. Loved the 944. I have to make a list one day.
Also, Audi makes a really good bug/tar cleaner, too! Get it at the dealer. (I/m not compensated by them, just tried it on my Audi and it worked GREAT! Will use on my 951 when needed.)
At first I thought the basket weave wheels were better looking, bur really, the Phone Dials scream 944! Good choice on putting the new tires on those. And 'thumbs up' on those little achievements. Great vid, as always!!!
Rubbing alcohol works really well on sap. I had a lot of pine tree sap on one of my cars on the rubbing alcohol took it off and didn't damage the paint.
This was the fastest car on the road in 86. Picked an identical new one up from an SF Bay dealer, stepped on it over Dumbarton Bridge and before I knew it the speedo registered over 150.
There's a hole cover from Porsche for those who "deleted" the rear wiper motor. Check with a Porsche parts recycler as they should have one. Also, think Metric for sockets, etc.
Anything alcohol based should remove the sap. The higher the concentration, the bigger. Check out chrisfix's video as reference on the same issue. I have BBS on my black 86, but they are the RS version. Keep the 944 videos coming!
Bro just did a similar video on my 91 Mercedes 500sl. Made me so happy at the end. I said fuck it, due to quarantine let's fix things for free using stuff around my shop. It came out so good. Ironically I even fixed my driver's door panel. Oh also because of you I found a 1983 Nissan pulsar and I think I'm going to pick her up. Thanks again. Love the content.
Love the phone dials. Sap and tar is always tough--too weak and it it does not work, too strong and you risk ruining the paint. i have had luck with the cheap Turtle Wax by letting it sit on the bad spots for a little time
Hi man! i just found your channel.. nice car! for the rear windshield why don´t you buy a rear wiper delete kit for a vw golf? (i don´t know if the hole is the same size, but there are a lot of kits available) Cheers from Argentina!
Love the video, im gonna watch more of your channel, but 400k miles!!! Wow! My old 924 special editionhad close to 230k miles. Original engine, and clutch 🤪
Great video brother. I always loved the looks of those cars. I would say kinda a dream car. I would have put some silicone on the wiper blade delete job. It would add a bit of extra protection. Being that I’m a fellow diy person.
Actually I might be able to give some helpful feedback on your tire situation. I'm tires for a mixture of daily driving, autocross, and the occasional track day. They do offer a a ridiculous amount of grip for a street tire. After one track day, one autocross, and 25,000 street miles, my front tires are pretty well worn out and the rear tires are still closed to new (RSX Type-S). Adding a little bit of air pressure takes care of the additional sidewall flex compared to the Kumho tires. Once they get halfway Warren they do become a little more dicey in standing water, and the noise level increases dramatically as they wear. There are supposedly confirmed reports that this is actually a rebadged previous-generation Bridgestone Potenza RE71, and they do seem to offer similar performance to that tire.
Apparently some of that reply was deleted by accident. That should have began by saying that I'm using the same Tire for a mix of daily driving, track day, and autox use.
The wheels take special conical seat nuts. Also seems like your car is in desperate need of an alignment. I would get it checked wouldnt want to wear out the new tires. I think cookie cutters look best on 944s id keep an eye out for a set they can be had cheap
Quick question, i can't remember if you mention this in a previous video but is this car 100% yours now? or do you still only have it for 6 months at a time?
I raced some dude who had one of these modified 944 turbos it was fast of course I beat him but he kept up my car was a 06 Mustang Gt with mods cold air heads reworked racing clutch and exhaust the dyno sheet said 415HP oh of course it was a 5 speed manual.
That interior really needs some refurbishing... maybe even a little upgrade. What about some faux leather vynil, including some padded vynil to replace those disgusting "suede" surfaces?
God I love old crappy cars. My favorite crappy car I ever owned was 97 Subaru Impreza. It was mint but some db pulled out in front of me and I slammed curb and ruined car. Sad face.
Have you checked if the plastic worm gears in the odometer sensor aren't broken in the instrument Cluster? It's common for them to stop working if you push the reset button while the car is moving or in motion of any sorts. I found a reference: www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/elect-09.htm
Dude!!! You gotta roll with the BBS rims!!! In the 80s, BBS, Epsilon and Gotti rims were the S**t!!! You'd be rolling Miami Vice style! Glad to see that you're keeping the old girl going. They're aren't many of them left. 👍
The Phone Dials are SOOOOooooo much classier. The mesh wheels cheapen the look.
Very much classier! Absolutely the look (perceived quality) went down with the mesh. Someone rightly mentioned it looked like an RX-7.
(Not slamming the Mazda, only to say let the Mazda be Mazda, & let the Porsche be Porsche.)
Great video! And the phonedials are way cooler than the BBS.
Lug Nuts, hand thread them on for 10-12 threads before hitting it with drill. Drill has enough torques to jack the threads.
Love this, Ethan. You're absolutely right - the tiny jobs feel great. It's those little fixes that make the car a nicer place to be. I find HUGE satisfaction in refreshing even the smallest of trim pieces on my E46.
I hope that with the new tires you got an alignment as well. If not your new tires will end up like your old tires.
Yeah it badly needed an alignment. All fixed now.
Nothing to be ashamed of with that improvised rear wiper delete. Looks good & well put together.
If desired, the screw's head could be dabbed with black touch up paint to hide the silver.
The phone dial wheels are the absolute best looking wheels for the 944 👍🏼

Almost 10,000 subscribers. Keep on truckin'.
Try a clay bar kit for the sap!
I think it'll work, because it SHEERS junk like that off.
Good call. Clay does wonders.
Also, Audi makes a really good bug/tar cleaner, too! Get it at the dealer. (I/m not compensated by them, just tried it on my Audi and it worked GREAT! Will use on my 951 when needed.)
PINE- SOL !!!!! Cheap 😎😎😎😎😎😎😄😄😄😄😄🍺🍺🍺🍺

I just discovered your channel, and I love it :)
From previous videos, I hadn't noticed that the Porsche had brown interior, so cool!
Try Goo Gone for the sap. I've used it for over a decade to get sap or anything sticky off ANYTHING.
Rubbing alcohol works really well on sap. I had a lot of pine tree sap on one of my cars on the rubbing alcohol took it off and didn't damage the paint.
The basket weave wheels remind me of the Grand Marquis wheels. Take that for what it is worth.
Basket weaves belong on three cars: Grand Marquis/Crown Vic HPP, FC RX7s, and Trans Am GTAs. Oh and GNXs.

What about removing the stone guards?
Yeah I've been thinking about that...
Heat gun and gentle scraping- plastic scraper!!😎😎😎😎😎😎😄😄😄
Pretty sure they’re genuine alloy lug nuts by the looks of it.
Also, Yokohama tires were OEM for the 951, so they might perform better and they're fairly cheap.
You really need the eurospec rear bumper to make it perfect👌😎

For the sap use the steel wool with the soap in it

Great job plugging the hole in the hatch. If you want to conceal it a bit better, use a black paint pen to color the screw in.
Yeah! Just borrow your girl's black nail polish, find a sharpie....anything!

Nice Porsche
I'd love to find a cheap 400k 944 turbo! In the Chicagoland area you can barely find a decent 944 for cheap rn.
You have 968 mirrors on that thing. They used to go for a lot of money.
Denatured alcohol or Marine Stove fuel should remove that tree tar without an issue. I'm a huge fan of the 944.
Can you fix the cracked dash? I have the same issue. You can you Polyvance products...
Oops or goof off might work. Not sure how paint will take it though.

Yep it definitely needs an alignment! :)
ngl i kinda like the basket weave wheels more than the phone dial wheels
Quick question, i can't remember if you mention this in a previous video but is this car 100% yours now? or do you still only have it for 6 months at a time?
try simpleGreen on the sap ( without water dilution)
Good suggestion. I tried it, didn't work. I do use Simple Green for just about everything else though!
The lug nuts need to be a ball seat, not very common at local parts store. Thanks for the videos.
When can we have a video on the Prizm GSi
You might have to let the bug/tar/sap remover sit for a bit. Had to let it sit for me once to remove tar off.
Yeah I let it sit for a few minutes. I'll try a few other things! :)
Is it still sucking exhaust into the cabin?
My motto is "Not good, but better".
Try Stoner’s Tar-X.
High mileage vehicle is way to go if you want a project car and that's the vehicle I want cool vehicle 👍👍👍😎😉😌😌
Mineral spirits or acetone (nail polish remover) will take that sap off
ooooh, I'd love to come and help you clean that car! lol
I raced some dude who had one of these modified 944 turbos it was fast of course I beat him but he kept up my car was a 06 Mustang Gt with mods cold air heads reworked racing clutch and exhaust the dyno sheet said 415HP oh of course it was a 5 speed manual.
I would have put the new tires on the BBS wheels then take that motor and trans out and have them rebuilt
how many miles does the car have??
Cool 😀
E.T. FONE DIALS HOME! looks dope! Achtung!!! Porsche likes to use aluminum lug nutz! Nein Herr Basket Weave! i'm done sorry.
Where is Probe?
That interior really needs some refurbishing... maybe even a little upgrade. What about some faux leather vynil, including some padded vynil to replace those disgusting "suede" surfaces?
How much did you spend on this ride????
Spent $7k a few years back. It was likely the cheapest 944 Turbo available at the time.
I am baffled that it has 400 k miles
pit stoop
God I love old crappy cars. My favorite crappy car I ever owned was 97 Subaru Impreza. It was mint but some db pulled out in front of me and I slammed curb and ruined car. Sad face.
Are you selling this car
Nope, I love it too much!
It’s not ok
Goo Gone or Goof Off.
Lugnuts are not correct Porsche use lug nuts with ball ending not with cone ending or what ever you call it.
Should have mounted that rubber on the BBS wheels!
Have you checked if the plastic worm gears in the odometer sensor aren't broken in the instrument Cluster? It's common for them to stop working if you push the reset button while the car is moving or in motion of any sorts. I found a reference: www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/elect-09.htm

Not a fan of the basket wheels, especially in gold, but I’m just a random guy in the comments so 🤷🏻♂️
Me encantan tus vídeos, te sigo desde España. Este es mi 944 turbo ruclips.net/video/MY9P6z5t3Oo/видео.html
