Sparky, you never fail to dissapoint. Excellent step-by-step that a homeowner can do themselves assuming they do things safe. I've done so much around my house with your help!
Fantastic to hear! Thanks so much!
Great job! I love replacing stuff like this! Saves the customer money, saves wear on your body because you dont need to install a whole new unit, saves on making a big mess in the bathroom if theres blown in insulation or if you have to cut sheetrock etc.
I enjoy projects like this as well. The biggest benefit to me was that there are no fans these days which have the same dimensions as this one. Also, these days fans with a 7 3/4" height have a 6" discharge. That would have required me to mess with an adaptor. And yes, who wants to make a mess in someone's bathroom. LOL!
Good job Sparky.
Thanks Gary!
Excellent tutorial, Bill!
Thank you kindly!
Love these little jobs like that ... I have that rachet screwdriver and love it as well ... Thx my friend
Absolutely! Yes, that ratcheting driver is great!
Hello Bill I love the way you do that
Enjoy your channel. Keep 'em coming.😊
Thanks so much!
Love easy jobs like this
Me too, thanks!
That was great Sparky nice video. Also like the screwdriver you were using too…
Thanks! I like that ratcheting driver so much, I think I'll make a video about it.
for those who don't know, and are curious, that type of motor is known as a "shaded pole" motor, because that wrap of wire on the stator distorts the magnetic field to make the rotor turn. the motor can be reversed by taking it apart and flipping the stator the other side up. they're a simple motor, and really the only things that go wrong with them is the shaft can seize up like that one did, and if you have them trying to run for too long, the windings can burn out. to do tend to have a little bit of a hum, while running, though.
Very interesting, thanks!
Thanks. Just super!
Thanks so much!
Thanks, Bill! Very good video, as always.
Thanks Tim!
the axial mobile home fans are the best candidates for a direct motor change. one like that, if the same model is still on the market, it's good to just buy a replacement blower assembly, which lets you get rid of the old motor, blower, and shroud.
but I've found that at least half the time, I can throw in a new Panasonic Whisper series fan, and give the customer better performance, with less labor costs.
Sounds great, thanks!
Interesting job. I would probably have soaked and cleaned the blower before reattaching the motor just to get the old dirt, dust and grime off of it.
Hi Jeff! Good idea. We did wash the cover.
Can you do a video on EV Chargers?
My current understanding is this: If you install a receptacle for an EV Charger, code would require the receptacle to be GFCI protected.
But the manufacturers instructions often say not to GFCI protect the charger because they have GFCI protection built in. So then you would have to hard wire it.
To do anything else would be to go against code or manufactures instructions.
Any advice on why one side of LED lights are brighter than the other LED lights? (The LED lights are the exact same brand at 4000K temp. They are 4’ SATCO medium bi-pin…
I would start by checking the connections and making sure they are very good. Possibly quality control problem with the LED's as well.
@@SparkyChannel this was fantastic advice.
@@ronnietaurarii4660 It's hard to tell what the problem is, but those are a couple of troubleshooting things to start with.
👍 👍
Thanks Theo!
Cheers for this. I currently worked on a fan immediately after watching this I get a call to do this.
Question: I have 8 lights outside a commercial building garage and 3 of them are not working. Its connected to an Asecend Standard Intermatic timer switch. When on Auto, all but 3 lights are on. When on Manual, all lights work. Bulbs are Metal Halide, the contactor seems to be working well. Bulbs have been changed out and a new timer has been installed. thoughts?
Because all lights work when on manual, rule out bad bulbs. Is the timer rated for 8 metal halide bulbs?
Howdy Bill, Have you had a chance to review the new Modbox products from Kline? (Sockets and drivers)
Question? I was working at a rental home. I noticed the outside outlet sticking up out of the ground mounted on top of the conduit. What’s the code for outside outlets.
