The thing is it can be both, most people think you need this 1k dollar deck to do well in tournament. Off the top of my head I can name 2 examples: Purrely(~60 could be more with S:P but it is truly unnecessary) Tenpai(~150 though it can be more with Trident Dragon I suggest to just wait since he is getting a reprint soon) and soon Gimmick Puppet and Mimighoul. Once Snake-Eyes gets toned down I think this format could be quite decent!
We like similar stuff, different, weird off meta player that likes stuff that other people don't. But that can still win in unique ways that deserves respect.
Man I wish there were more guys like you at my LGS, making decks that they like instead of building competitive net decks. It's fair play to have a comp deck, but after I get stomped I like it when they whip out their $50 casual deck. If I ever find myself in your neck of the woods I'd love to play my roids and Blaze Fenix (non-OTK) deck against you :)
In all honesty I'd love to see you guys duel with these kind of decks. Just these ultra casual(but still functional) decks! Maybe you could do a house tournaments of sorts with them. Or if you want make it akin to your other house tournaments and grab a bunch of of the deck builder sets ands use those!
My personal lineup: Fluffals, Melffy, Timelords, Pure Therions, Generaider, Phantom Knights, Crystal Beasts/Advanced CB's, and Bastion Misawa's "Yokai" deck from the GX Manga. For when people want to play more competitively, I still kinda go a little lower-tier and stick with Runick Stun and Ritual Dogmatika, since they were fairly cheap to build and can annoy competitive players just as much as their Turn-1 obstacle course annoys me.
Pretty much all of my decks IRL are anime decks and I built them because I actually enjoy playing them but I’ve got 12 different decks at the moment: Blue-Eyes, Dark Magician, Red-Eyes, Elemental Heroes, Destiny Heroes, Cyber Dragons, Red Dragon Archfiend, Nordics, Odd-Eyes, Phantom Knights, Firewall Code Talkers, and Rokkets. My favorite deck I have out of all of these has to be good old Blue-Eyes. Might not be my strongest deck but it’s definitely my favorite and usually my main go-to deck when playing at locals, with friends/family, etc.
I just built a Nouvelles deck cause I love the theme! It has a lot of moving pieces and a lot of spots that can be hit with interruption, but it's so much fun to actually get it going. And it's a deck that actually makes use of Hungry Burger so I couldn't help but get into it.
2:17 Ive also tried to make a beast deck since way back in the day. I always wanted a Wolf theme deck, but surprisingly after 25 years there isn’t even enough wolf cards to make a side deck. The best I could do was play “The Fabled” Lv1 tuners with Wolf or Silver Fang, and even though it was dumb, Unicore was enough to beat my friends so much they hate that card still. (I mean probably, it’s been awhile) I also landed on melffy. Not only are they adorable but turbo out Unicore way easier lol. It’s a shame beast type performapals suck and are not worth playing these days.
Ursarctic Gate Guardian goes so hard in Master Duel, I wonder if you have tried mixint them together. Its one of my favourite decks. Dealing with Ursarctics board + Gate Guard negates without an extra deck is kinda OP
My line up will be: Rangaraika/Plants Full Armor/Raizeol Drytron/Ritual Control Tenpai Centur-Ion/White Forest Mimighoul Ice Barrier (maybe, I don't want too many synchro strategies) Love the deck sharing. o7
@@Reflecter16 It's not hard though. It runs exactly as the original did with 3 benten. You get like 3-5 (depending on luck) Omni negates T1 and T2 just otk with big drytron bosses. People tend to run turn skip version with arcana force but that seems too nasty and doesn't have grind game in case it's needed.
I love your video! I watched while trying to put together a Mermaid deck that’s all about the Mermaids/Umi/and Marincess cards! Not gonna lie I’ve never been able to play against people so I don’t know if it even works but it’s fun!
I need a deck that; • Has 20 or less in-engine cards • A good amount of starters • A good amount of extenders • Is okay with using book of moon to dodge Imperm/veiler • Can make at least one omni negate for evenly matched/board breakers. If they draw the second either they are playing lots of breakers or it was good RNG. Not mad at either. • Average or higher grind game • Doesn’t depend on a towers for its end board. It’s okay to have a towers but if the deck literally loses to a kaiju, no thank you. Optional; • Makes a good balance of front and back row interaction with its boards. This way lighting storm, dark hole, ruler no more, duster, etc etc won’t be a blow out if they resolve.
I’m a filthy casual player too. Gate Guardian, Umi Control, Shark XYZ, Dark World, Blue Eyes & Agents are some of my favorites. Plus I’ve got 6 Edison decks made. I’m scum…lol
Filthy casual? I remember stubbornly trying to make Melodious work since 2015 and over the years, I would try to cram them into other fusion based archetypes like Invoked, Shaddoll, Heroes, Branded, Fluffals and then taking them to locals with decent success, but there were still obvious potholes. My toil and hard labor was finally rewarded a decade later when Melodious received support that would instantly elevate them to a tier 1.5-1 deck. Casual Yugioh is fulfilling and the most fun I have had is seen the trajectory and growth of a deck that no one played to a deck you can now see at YCS and some of the other biggest tournaments in the world. You just never know when a deck will just instantly become meta relevant.
Mate! I have been running Melodious for about 6 years now and I was so excited to see how the new support worked for it. I used to use Bloom Diva as a boss monster against my friends and within our little group, it defined the meta and they built decks taking it into account. Melodious was quite influential in our own circle 😅
See this is I feel the perfect bridge of casual and competitive. Being competitive with fun decks. I feel most people assume casual is just using a box of common mismatched cards with no effort. Versus this having fun and trying to maximize certain mechanics or themes.
I would argue that Wind and Water is the best Gate Guardian card. Twice per turn S/T negate vs Thrice per turn targeting negate makes Wind and Water more useful, IMHO.
Seeing a ton of decks all laid out reminds me that it's still extremely shameful Misawa's vest is not an official product.
@@Zetact_ tsa nightmare
You mean Bastion?!
YOU MEAN BASTION, RIGHT?!!!
Proof that yugioh can be accessible, just not the most competitive. Gate guardians rise up.

I see shiny card, like art, build deck.
Man’s just described me 😂. Why satellers will always have a special place in my heart
Love this. I have 64 decks built based on 64 different archetypes and like to have tournaments between them.
That's awesome
I DO THE SAME THING!!! I HAVE 62!!! I thought I was only one who did this!!!
Nice, I have about 200 decks or more at this point...though I just build the ones that interest me.
I have done exactly this type of thing so many times
SAME! old school A F!

Awesome video. You can really tell how much Alex loves these decks! Especially Legendary Fisherman. Makes me want to build more decks!
feel like alec is making these titles for alex 😂
He's caleb no cap😢
Really glad to see your gout operation went well, we all want you a swift recovery

I love these kind of videos so much hopefully Paul can update his decks
IRL I have
Dinomist
Ogdoadic
Unchained
Tellarknight
Lunalight
Mayakashi
And the ones I'm looking at right now are Ghoti, Shinobird, and Vendread.
I'm at 16 decks and counting. It's way more fun to play with decks you like than what deck now costs $1000

Good to see you back Alex
I love running Gate Guardian. It's fun, super cheap, and wasn't completely useless at my locals.
Reasons to play melffy - cute and fluffy hug monsters. That is all
I'm currently running a legendary fisherman/ Kairyu-Shin deck as well! It's my 2nd favorite deck!
as a fellow filthy casual who always likes to just throw whatever together and see if it works I approve!
I would argue that Wind and Water is the best Gate Guardian card. Twice per turn S/T negate vs Thrice per turn targeting negate makes Wind and Water more useful, IMHO.
it makes sense to give contact fusion to gate guardian, kinda like valkyrion.
I also like building unconventional decks, like my Nemlaria deck. Your decks are worthy.
