Hey Chris just wanted to say thank you for the great videos. I am 17yr. You inspired me to start my own project. I bought a 1996 Ford Ranger for 300$, replaced all the brake lines, new tires replaced the clutch and pressure plate. I should be able to sell it for 2,500$ would not of done this project without your videos! Keep it up!
Heck yeah man that's so awesome to hear!
Awesome man.
Great to hear this, Corbo. Learning how to do this kind of work will serve you well and you'll be able to pass the skills along to your kids someday. Keep it up!
go man
Your hooked now for life, the hunt is just as rewarding as putting something back on the road that's been sitting .good luck to you.
If it were me..I would not waste good content time justifying to haters what my channel is all about. Those of us, which obviously massively outnumbers the detractors, are loving what your channel brings to the table.👍
Always start the engine with no water in it. In case the head gasket is bad or it has a cracked head. Then put water in it as it runs slow so you know how much you can put in before it gets flooded out my the water. The lower it a little an ut sealer in it an start it an put water in as it runs a little fast or fast .. PNM
I got my NNKH merch this week! put the sticker on my car, i'm promoting NNKH in The Netherlands. really love this channel. beats ''normal'''tv anyday. very curious about the new garage
I was just sitting here after work saying to myself I haven’t seen a nnkh video in a bit. I’m sure it’s great. Your awesome man!! Keep up the fun projects!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Since the 59 Buick and the 59 Chevrolet in I'm using these two as an example have the same kind of roller bearing setup, I just took front hubs off a 1966 Impala and used the tapered bearing setup along with the brake drum and it fit just perfect
I sold Atlas Cushionaire tires back in the early 1970's when I worked at my local Enco station in my home town as a teenager.
A 1955 Oldsmobile saved my Mother's life, and mine as a baby when she rolled it on black ice and slid upside down into a frozen field. My Father said that if it wern't for that "wrap-around" windshield we would not have made it. And my favorite car of all time is the 70's Olds 455 Rocket that I learned to drive on, love seeing this old 1959!
Growing up, the vast majority of my neighbors worked for Olds, so my neighbor had a 1959 Olds just like the one in this show. Occasionally, I would ride to or from school in a 59 Olds…
I grew up about 30 miles north of Lansing Michigan (home of Oldsmobile) In the 80’s, when Olds Cutlas was the number one selling car, the aluminum wheels on them came from Motor Wheel, also a Lansing company,as was Wohlert corp. who made ring gears that went on the flywheels.
Btw, that Century inboard boat was likely made in Manistee, Michigan. Cris-Craft wasCadillac , Michigan.
My wife’s grandfather worked for AC Delco in Flint, Michigan and willed us a 1964 dynamic 88 when he passed. Has the 394 rocket and is a beautiful car. Unfortunately it spun a bearing and rebuild kits are $$$$
@@wesleysimpson3730 long since gone I grew up in Montrose burt
I really like the videos I just recently became a subscriber. Hopefully you guys come around Missouri St Louis area I would like to meet you guys
Oldsmobile had some of the classiest looking cars. The factory horn was awesome, perfect tone.
It's a shame that Oldsmobile and Mercury are gone. They were two very coveted marques that stood out for GM and Ford.

Love these things!
The point is, how much I enjoy watching you methodically go through all the steps to get these running. Very enjoyable.
That's what it's all about. 😉 It's a KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) thing to me.
If you’re on site it’ll run
Good one😁

@@YeOldeGeezer good catch lol
Good insight!
'59 GM cars are some of the most iconic jet-age styled cars ever. I'd love to have that thing!
'59 and '60 were off the chain. '60 Plymouth Fury, '59 Chrysler 300, '59 Buick Electra, and too many more to list...but the '59 and '60 Olds Dynamic 88 are total perfection. They do the space age thing without being tacky. The '59 Buick Electra might be the most iconic of all these cars. Jet Set. :)
"Fell on the ground and hit your face while riding the scooter" - That's the story you told the wife, right?😊
I truly believe Gus has decided that this is where he wants to live!
Many of us think the same way.....
@@TheDutchPathFinder1 - Yea.......Gus is not wrong.
Can't believe how fast those short legs can propel Mr Gustav
I have my parents 58 cadillac they bought in 1960 . I was only 1 year old. I remember driving in it to family reunions from palm springs California to Missouri in 1964, 65, and 66. It has the rare factory AC which certainly made the trips comfortable as they were always held in July. And the optional power windows. Mom finally gave it to me in 1982, she was well aware I wanted it! Lifelong Southern California car. In good shape, and still going down the road. I'm 64 now and the car is 65. We're growing old together! 😊. Enjoying your videos and good work!!
Diggin this so far. What a beautiful place.
Lots of Americana for a Brit like me
Yeah don't listen to the people criticizing these types of videos. You are hands down my favorite "Will it run" RUclipsr and these videos are so therapeutic for me 😂 Love seeing people keeping old things working. It's a dying trade!
Gotta love those old commercials. Thanks for including it.
Chris, mate do what you do !! Let the armchair mechanics have their say from their cellars or garages mate, enjoy watching everything you do, learning a whole lot which helps me on my 98, 4 runner with 250,000 and runs like a champ. Keep trucking my friend
Great episode. I can't get enough of Gus, He looks and acts just like my Dachshund Marvin who we rescued from the side of the road in 1998 he lived with us until 2013. I don't remember Marvin running that fast. Gus is like a Rocket 88 himself.
Это очень красивый автомобиль! Привет из России! Люблю Ваши видео!
I used to drive a 70 Olds Delta 88, I called it a Chevelle killer because the Rocket Motor would eat them alive. Two door car but a little bigger than a Chevelle, but that Rocket motor would eat a 396 every time.
Hi Love you Videos men
I do hope you get the chance to do the brakes in the future, I'd love to see it out on the open road.
Great video, I am excited for your new garage but was also a little sad to see the old one gone. Looking forward to that video and hopefully a video of you organizing your new workspace and all your inventory!
Pretty sure he said the new garage would be tall enough to have a lift in it. That would be such a great tool to help work on things.
Excellent
That is a car with character!
I think she’s a beauty!
😎
I agree! And really solid too
In the early 90's (in New Zealand)a friend took one of these ( actually it was a ninety eight with a 394 )for a test drive and I went with him ' my friend likes to see how they go with a sharp stab of the accelerator ' I remember the back end sinking down and the skinny tires squealing and the feeling of an enormous amount of torque ' it was a lesson on how strong American cars of that era run .
Cars were works of art back then. Nowadays, we drive plain tin cans. It must have been incredible to be alive in the 50s driving these cars and going to car meets or the local burger joint. What I would do to go back in time and experience it. My grandpa said times were 20 times better back then. People actually had fun outside. 😂
Depends who you were I guess. The golden age is done, but at least we don’t make the black folks use a different drinking fountain.
@Joe always have to bring race into something huh? How's that white guilt feel for you?!
Nowadays, we drive e-waste mobiles.
A tin can would be an upgrade from the plastic crap we have now.
@@swamp-yankee If you take away the racism it was.Almost everyone had a 2 parent family. That's what made it better.
I have a 59 Buick I found in a barn , this was awesome
Love the '59 Buicks.
That's one sweet ride. Love all those unique styling qualities. If anyone can bring it back to life, you will...
I gotta a 59 2 door Biscayne and a 59 4 door Belair. They on the project list. Just gotta get a few in front of them finished. Looks like you guys had fun. Especially Gus.
I love that Gus is in on all of the adventures. He looks pretty happy to be included as well. Just a happy little Gus. Doing happy little Gus things. 🙂
Love you channel! I’m 60 and this reminds me of my Dad’s 59, 2 door Impala. It was 12 years old when he got it but he loved that car!! Great memories. Pro tip… I used to be a mechanic at a GM dealership. I noticed you using a screwdriver to pry the grease cap off of the front drum. I always liked taking a pair of channel-locks and opening them up wide the put the jaws at 12 and 6 o’clock then give a gentle squeeze and rock the cap up and down an it pops right off. I even had the right snap-on tool for that but preferred the channel-locks. By the way the grease caps proper name is “hub cap”. The things the we all call hub caps are “wheel covers”. Keep up the good work!
50’s styling was great and that’s one of the best looking, inside and out.
Hey I thought that bridge looked familiar over the Yough Lake!! Ohio Pile I about lost my life on that river white water rafting last year!! 😟 You were about 25 miles from where i live in Somerset Co Pa!! Tell Jen she has good taste in Beer!!! Also great content enjoy watching your videos!!!!
That horn cracked me up. 😂 When you think of a classic car horn that’s exactly how I hear it in my head.
What a beautiful car. These cars are also a history of America roads. I like watching Roderick crowfords high way patrol movies, It is enjoyable to see these kind of cars on the road and people's old days ways of living styles. Tku for the video.
Love that car, nice overall condition. Good restoration candidate or a great rust repair and touch up driver.
For me the year 1959 is the peak year of the rocket era, all the American brand cars produced for that year are in fact very desirable because from a design point of view it is the year in which they are, in my opinion, the most architectural, the most similar to spaceships.
And Oldsmobile's are my favorite, I find them so beautiful and well proportioned, they are works of art.
I always loved the amazing visibility you get in those old cars with the thin pillars and wraparound windshields
Brother I just found your channel (both of em and Jen’s) like 3 weeks ago and have watched all your videos. Great work my guy!
Awesome! Thanks so much for tuning in Matt and also thanks for becoming a member.
Love your fancy free style. You mix working on cars and playtime seemlessly! You, Jennifer and Gus make great companions. Take care!
Keep up the great work Chris. Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Ian in the UK
If you have any questions whether this guy knows his stuff go back a few videos when he had his truck that he's driving today underwater at a boat ramp and I wonder whether it was all freshwater or a mixture of saltwater and freshwater but he took it apart piece by piece and repaired about 95% of it and it's still on the road..... impressive
Yeah, we know what really happened to that eye. You mouthed off to Jen and she put you in your place. LOL.
I love the body shape of the car...really cool rear end! Definitely would like to see a part 2.
My dad had that same rig except the big motor & 4 Barrel what a rocket it was & cool speedo....
present👊🏻
Awesome video and car! My father has a 1960 Super 88. Same body style. 59-60 with a few updates for 60. It's the car in the air scoop brake video. Good to see another saved.
Hey Chris my name is Elliot I'm a subscriber from Oregon Portland Oregon and I wanted to tell you man I really really really enjoy this channel it's something I watch everyday I watch all your updates and watch all your stuff You're absolutely brilliant mechanic some of the stuff you do is just man it it's pretty mind-blowing I'm on automotive service manager and and technician by trade by heart and I love what you do man keep up all the good work can't wait to see the updates on the suburban and the new garage I wish you guys and Jen really well🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤😊😊
I have a 1964 Olds Jetstar 1. 75k original miles with 25k on the rebuilt 394. "Ultra High Compression" 10.5:1. Old school tech but she's a sweetheart. Came out of an apple barn in Connecticut, im the 3rd owner. Have original plates, registration, dealer paperwork, keys, spare tire, wheeles with caps, etc. Acquired from a good family friend. One day will get a resto, try to find parts tho haha
The thing I remember that was most striking about this year Olds was the steering wheel!
Back in the 60s here in my hometown of bellflower ca. , the low riders put that steering wheel on their 49-54 Chevys . Naturally it was pushed back towards the driver a bunch and much higher . Looked cool !!! Cheers , Neil
Chris, always love your vid's thank you for your time editing great content. Don’t think that big bird wouldn't fit on our uk roads. Well done & as always keep wrenching buddy 👍
Nice old car! Of course the four barrel option was cool, but this one is great too.
From 1970 to 1980 I worked as a mechanic in a garage. I worked on a lot of cars including Oldsmobiles and I never
saw a brake master and booster like this one. Always the master and booster were under the hood on the firewall.
The Oldsmobiles at the time were at their peak and one of the best cars to buy. GM has basically gone in the toilet
since the 80's. There is nothing today (even the GM and Chev trucks) that are built with the quality of those GM yr of 60 to 75
cars.
Agreed. The trucks are plagued with AFM and a bunch of other crap surrounding the trucks. Thanks EPA for ruining more of the automotive industry.👎 Ralph Nader started it all imo.
We are left with import brands being really decent now, but even those are getting it too.
My first car was a 60 Chevrolet impala 2 door. Had a 283 automatic
My uncle told me if I could get it running I could have it. He lived about 3 miles away. I was 15 so I walked to his house after school one day and put in plugs and a battery and drove it home with no tags or license. When he got home he thought it had been stolen, and called the cops. They found it sitting in my dad’s driveway with me under it changing the oil and the brakes. Nothing was done about me driving home but a talking to. The cop even helped me finish the left front brake so he could be sure I would get it right. Those were the good times. 1971
Great story 😀
You two are awesome! Content! Quality! Scripting! Editing! and natural appeal! - My Uncle had a '59 - 98 Convertible - My Dad a '68 - 98 Convertible - In the 80's while in the USAF, I got and restored a '68 - Cutlass S convertible. The Oldsmobile engines were always so smooth and powerful even if only a 2brl.
Had a 59 Bel- air. Love the look of those cars. Mine had 3 on the tree straight 6, 2 door with a green metallic paint. This guy has some really cool stuff!!
I had a '66 Olds Starfire before I got my DL (1974). Had to sell it in 2001. I've always had a soft-spot for the old Oldsmobiles. That '59 is going to make a Fine "going to town rig"! I love this genre of restoring cars to nice usable/driving condition, and DRIVING them. The old model of "Ya gotta restore it to show quality" was always so tiresome to me. As a kid my friends dad had a '29 ford pickup he'd restored and showed. He only sat in it when his dad was present, and never rode in it. "Trailer Queen". SUCH A WASTE, IMO
So many cool cars in the U.S, that '59 Oldsmobile is no exception. Tons are just tucked away in spots like this, proper barn finds. I'm currently visiting the U.S from New Zealand so I'm hoping I can see some on my travels.
P.S We're in Philly next week, any food spots worth visiting??
Lots of cool vehicles here indeed! And hard to go wrong with a decent food spot in philly. So many great options. Just make sure to grab a cheese steak from somewhere. Jim's steaks on South Street is a great spot or of course there's Geno's Steaks
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Thanks man! If I'm being honest, I pretty much booked a trip there just for a cheesesteak... they don't really exist back home! Great video also, looking forward to the next.
Chickes and Pete's. Good food. Any steak shop. South street down town Philly. Pretty happening street.
@@Oldobsfordsusa94 Good stuff - thanks mate. Will scope them out!
The dad in that commercial was probably 45 years old.
Fun time, great video, amazing people, what else are you looking for ? This channel rocks
My granddaddy had a Cadillac of the same vintage. Wish I had that car. Thanks for this!
Beautiful old Olds. Thank you for bringing us along. You, Jen and Gus are the best.
Great video ! My first car was my Dads Olds Delta 88, had a Rocket 350 8 cylinder. I had that car up to 90- once! Felt like I was going to take off. Now Ichave an Equinox with a 4 cylinder engine with not much pickup. Gas is expensive and a 4 uses a lot less. Your videos are very entertaining both of you. And Gus is a scene stealer ! Thank you!
What an awesome car man, great job getting her back up! I bet you are excited to get into the new shop. Looking forward to seeing the progress. Thanks for the great videos, I really enjoy them!
thanks jim for sharing your cool car. and thanks jen and NNKH!
Yessss thanks :D been waiting for a video since last week , I've just been watching your old old ones in between , that's a sick car! Would love to go to America and buy a big American classic
Good vídeo, Gus is wonderful, BRASIL, SAO PAULO, PRAIA GRANDE, (litoral sul) 13/08/2023, 19;28 h. Domingo dia dos Pais.
It's like an air b-nb for no nonsense know how kinda guy like yourself with crew, Jen and meat head dog.
Gussy is a hussy
Jen is a ten
And Chris is a wizz
You have the same body style tundra I want they’re hard to come by in good shape for a good price, you can’t get one cheap I’ve been looking all the cheap ones I found are all beat up & wrecked & they have over 300k miles, that’s the most reliable tundra you can get, I want a 5 speed V8 tundra in that body style I’ve been looking forever!
Love when you get an alert on your phone and it's a new no-nonsense video. I don't know if it was in a video and I missed it but what ever happend to your squirrel buddy?
Hey Chris, you mentioned that you wasn't sure if the 'olds' had the original paint. It is most definitely original. My first car was this a 88 Dynamic. Same color and 2-tone scheme. I'm nearly 73 and have been looking to find this car. Mine however, had the prolific 394 ci. My old man scrapped it while I was in the Navy. I blew up the engine while home on leave. I'm wishing I had it back now. Thanks for video and keep up the great content
Those old cars all have a soul and a story to tell. There's just not a lot of those old cars like that around anymore. The younger generation they are finally looking at the old car styling versus a jelly bean on wheels.
Had a couple of those back in the early 1970’s when they were cheap used cars. A Super 88 Scenicoupe and a 98 flattop. Just loved those cars. 14 mpg on the highway, but gas was 29.9 a gallon
Chris, it's always refreshing to see your videos, especially the ones with Jen and Gus in them. Great material, please keep it coming.
First thing I always do is blow off the engine and shop vac the interior. Grandparents owned a 59 Olds 98 4-door. They loaned it to my dad for road trip vacations. The interior was HUGE for 8-10-11 y/o kids.
First I've seen of that type of brake setup. Cool car and video!
The boat is a late 1962 or 1963 Century Resorter 17'. Century was the second largest inboard speed boat builder 1940s-1970s. This boat was a good all around boat a good ski boat and good ride boat. This hull was built from 1961-1968 in wood. And the same hull was offered in fiberglass starting in 1965 as a test platform around 5 boats. Full production of the fgl version in 1966 to 1970. A similar boat followed in 1971 with a different bottom shape. That boat was built into at least the late 1980s.. this boat is altered. The wood decks were done by someone but century did this too as special order. This is done differently than Century. Plank width appears in the video to be wider than Century. Also the stripes would have been white. The original deck on this boat would have been plywood covered with white vinyl. Also this boat originally had the optional sliding softtop.
What a great looking car👌
Yo blue Monday playing in the background, church 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Good to see folks preserving these old gems.

I'm so happy to see this I've been waiting for a video
Oldsmobiles where such a solid car , all the way through thee 80's. People go nuts over chevelle's ,Nova's and mustang's. But olds have durability and a Cadillac comfort you just couldnt get with other classic's.
Such a cool car ! Would love to see more of it !
I have a couple cars I'd like you to see. Interested in selling. No bullshit. 69 Lincoln Continental Mark III and a 64 Buick Wildcat Hardtop Coupe. Thumbs up so he can see
SWEET!!!!! I admit I shed a few tears when they stopped the production of Oldsmobiles. My first car was a 78 Delta 88 Royale and I instantly feel in love with the ride, comfort and power of the 350 Olds.
My dad and I had a 76 Delta Oldsmobile . I wish we kept it.
Thank you for making these videos.
Super sweet car! And yes, that has to be the best horn on a car ever!
The '64 Country Sedan we had when I was a shaver had a similar mellifluous hi/lo tone horn. I can still hear it.
Chris, loved how you pointed out the vintage technics reciever. Yeah, I'm a into vintage audio. Another awesome video.👍
I have the same receiver in a box in the attic.
It always makes me feel better to listen to this feed while I drive. I learn things in every episode. Very inspiring.
Awesome! Thanks so much for tuning in
Luv the old Olds Shes got a Foooooour 55 rocket ! More metal in that frame then a entire new car. GUS THE SUPER WIENER!!
Carro muito top meu amigo
Stick to your guns, you can out gun the Vice Grip if you hit it hard.....if you know what I'm saying!! Keep on, keeping on!! ;-)~
Gus is the boss!
Love ❤️ this video you are a super cool guy I like your music I always love Oldsmobile I had a 69 delta 88 with a 455 rocket and it felt like a rocket when you would punch it down.
😎🔥
Great EP Chris 👍🏼😎
21:28 People saying that are not thinking before they write or speak. It makes no sense. If they're concerned about sediment going into the filter because of filling it before hand and that imagined sediment is supposedly coming from the oil being poured into it what difference would it make if you poured it into the filter or just straight into the engine?? Makes no sense at all. LOL. You go bro you know more about cars and mechanics than 85% of people watching these videos. Including me!
