I took my mother to see this movie. She loved Wonder Woman growing up. I caught a glimpse of her face during this scene. She was crying. She said, “Diana was the first time I ever saw that a woman could be a super hero. This is beautiful.” Years later, my daughter and I watched it together. She loved every bit of this movie. As a guy, I know I take for granted super heros all being men. What an amazing thing for young girls to have THIS hero to identify with.

This is the moment Diana truly became Wonder Woman. She finally understood what she was fighting for. Not to stop some prophecy or uphold some ancient vow, not for pride or good and evil. She does it because that’s who she is. She believes in mercy, in compassion, in fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves. And most of all, she believes in love. Her love for Steve, for her mother, for her sisters in Themiscyira, for mankind and the wonders they have the potential to create, the bravery they are capable of.
The foundation of who Diana is has always been rooted in her capacity for love. That is her true superpower.
I thought her true superpower was plot armor.

I feel many people misunderstand what happened here. Like, “Ares was winning and she just defeated him with the power of love, it makes no sense”, no, it’s not that. Diana’s full godly power awakened with her rage and pain, when Steve died. That’s when she became powerful enough to kill Ares; but she was still using her power aggressively, which tends not to work against the God of War. So love and compassion merely gave her the clarity of spirit necessary to understand that a defensive strategy was better than an offensive one.

Chris Pine in this scene always wells me up. They did Steve’s heroic sacrifice right by spotlighting him reconciling his self elected fate with personal peace in such a human way.

Steve Trevor made her fall in love with humans and also taught her the real meaning of heroism. Diana used to want and save the world, but when all the people she was trying to shield died, wrath ignited her heart. Then she remembered Steve's last words - "it's not about deserve, it's about what you believe." On the other side, Steve learned eventually to believe in Diana's ideals and ambition by telling her "you can save the world."
The third act might not be action-packed as we expected, but the depth we need. We all must check our deepest motives and be a hero in our simple ways.

One of my favorite movies, and by far the best superhero movie ever made. Who would've thought that you can have genuinely evil bad guys, a female lead who is not acting or looking like a guy, but is actually sexy, dangerous, intelligent and badass all without losing her femininity, and even ROMANCE with a guy who is not a pushover(?!) and make a ridiculously fabulous and successful superhero movie with all that? This movie would've NEVER been made today. I'm so glad this exists!

They did such a good job portraying Ares, especially his armour and how he uses his fingers to make an opening for his mask.
gotta say the more & more I watch all the DC battle fight action scenes the more I realize how much more powerful & dramatic they are than Marvels.

I think that Diana and Steve's relationship is one of if not the best part of the movie. The actors have such delightful chemistry and both characters genuinely grow together. However, even if that weren't true, the way Chris Pine says "I love you" (0:52) is so authentic, so impactful, so perfect that it would be enough to sell me on their romance. What a legend.

I wish they had kept this same energy for the other DCU movies. As a marvel fan, this was by far a thousand times better than Captain Marvel, yet the movie studio didn't keep to this same energy for the other DCU movies.
