- One more from me off the album, I think. This one probably places second in my list of favourites.
I can only take your presence here to mean that you haven't bought the album yet. You really ought to remedy that.

The thing which humbles me about this song is that it's Protoman- the one who was flawed and damaged and used for parts- the one who has the greatest reason to hate who is preaching forgiveness to Mega- the perfect, favored child- of their flawed creator. That's heartrendingly deep and it speaks to the place where forgiveness is born.
I remember a long time ago, when I was very young, beating Mega Man 3 for the first time was a major thing for me. Finally figuring out the secret to Spark Man Doc Robot remix was to just jump on the garbage cubes, finding out about the hilariously abusable little screen-wrap thing in Needle Man's Doc Robot visit, clearing out the Wily Castle of that game in one good go, and just being able to take in that ending... I mean, it wasn't much, it was a simple reveal, 'that guy that you've been seeing the whole time was your brother, holy shit', but right then, in the moment, that was a thing, that scarf-toting BAMF the whole time having been your reprogrammed sibling.
Then, topping everything off, you finally get to hear that song in full. A bit of Whistle Concert being the melody you hear every time Proto Man comes on screen, then when you get the ending you get to hear the rest of it, it's a genius thing if I'm being honest. Even when I was little, that felt like my reward for beating the game, that piece of music was a work of art. It's been years and years, I've played plenty of other games, and while a lot of them have had stellar credits themes ranging from meaningful and powerful to triumphant and badass, Kimi No Kioku from Persona 3, the credits themes from both No More Heroes games, The War Still Rages Within from Metal Gear Rising, whatever that infectiously jazzy tune from Bayonetta's credits was titled, Whistle Concert always remained my all-time favorite ending theme from any game ever made. Even after going through an 8-bit sound processor, you could feel the emotion, hear the tone, know what it really was meant to sound like, and that's talent you would have a damned hard time finding anywhere else.
Fast-forward however long later, I discover The Megas. I just casually stumbled upon this group of badasses, taking all my favorite songs from one of my favorite game series and really bringing them to life with spectacular rock reconstructions complete with meaningful lyrics and a story drawn as if from nowhere to accompany it all throughout, one day through sheer chance. I don't even think I have to say that yeah, they're my favorite band. After listening to them non-stop for a long as hell time, it turned out that they were doing a Mega Man 3 album with the release of History Repeating: Blue. I'm blown the fuck away; I loved the guys before, suddenly they're one-upping themselves harder than Mario in a kiddie pool with a turtle shell. Don't Mess With Magnet Man came from a JOKE they did once, and somehow they took it and made one of the best songs ever. I'm listening to all this, having a fucking blast, and somewhere along the lines I realized: They're gonna do Whistle Concert. They literally can't not do it.
Two years later, give or take, this work of art happens. Literally, everything about this song that is not exactly how I had hoped is something I never thought of that's a million times better than I could dream of. The instrumentals are amazing, the singing is beautifully done, the lyrics are more powerful than any they've done before it, like I dare you to tell me 'Though my fate is broken/My path I cannot see/Though you are the chosen/I'll make my own history' isn't the most badass line you've ever heard in any song ever, it... I'm just speechless, honestly. Aaaah, man, I love it so much I can't even put it into the proper words, and I just wrote a fucking college dissertation on why this song is so meaningful to me.
tl;dr: THIS FUCKING SONG HRRNNNGGG
I understand you. Your story is beautiful. Miracles like this song are beautiful, yes?
I discovered the Megas after someone in another forum started a conversation (thread) about how Magnet Man's music is the "best" music ever. The second person that posted to that thread posted a link to "Better Not Mess With Magnet Man". I was in HEAVENNNN!!! Not only was that one of my most FAVORITE theme from Mega Man games, and it was so AWESOME to hear singable lyrics to it, it introduced me to THE MEGAS!!! I've been listening to their music quite frequently ever since!
1-upping themselves like Mario in a kiddie pool with a turtle shell,
that was funny!
Proto Man's homenage
" the doctor chose you to be his son " OH the goosebumps
well gamma is destroyed dr willy is defeted and the world is at peace
I can not get enough of The Megas. Mega Man is and always will be my favorite game franchise. Blue Bomber till i die!
This is amazing!Protoman is one of my favorite megaman characters.
Lapis Art this is sad
4 years ago I heard this song and to this day it's beautiful
The one dislike came from someone who was jelly about not being able to make such a work of art, tbh.
+ThatOneGuy Maybe it was Dr. Wiley!
Maybe it was an upside down person who tried to press like
Maybe it came from a deaf person :P
both of the dislikes are from my friends who did it sarcastically when i bragged about the song being too good for dislikes, they like the megas too (even though i only showed them gemineye)
nah, we only disliked it because its a bad song
This is literally 10/10 amazing. I love Mega man with all my heart and I love this as much as I love The Mega's Songs. Simply Amazing.
Extreme goosebumps at 3:23
My presence here is for the sake of posting this on my facebook in order to lure more fans.
I'm getting atomic purple for Christmas I love this song
The detonation shook the walls
It was coming down
The empty halls filled with flame
And everything was burning to the ground
I called your name, I tried to warn
But you didn't hear
You were torn
Between the hero and your fears
And I wish that I could be The One
To finally show the way
And I wish that I could be The One
Who knew just what to say
But I know that there is nothing
I could ever say or do
Because you're The One
The doctor chose you to be his son...
If I was standing where you are
I think I would have done what father wants
But now I know what I'd become
He said to me that I would be
That I would be the Light when they couldn't see
That what they need is a machine
That would give them hope
That could keep them free
That when they'd fall still he would stand
A savior built by human hands
It seems so strange, so very odd
A hero's father could be so very flawed...
An apology so sorry for the man he was
For the father he couldn't be
That I would not be what I was built to be
If I had a heart it would have broken to see his face
To see my family
And The One who took my place
There is a song I hear
A melody from the past
When I woke for the first time
When I slept for the last
You are The One
The hero who will stand
Do not blame father
He is only a man
What was filled with rage finally understands
Man is not without mistake
Unlike that which he builds from his hands
Though my fate is broken my path I cannot see
Though you are the chosen
I'll make my own history...
There is a song I hear
A melody from the past
When I woke for the first time
When I slept for the last
You are The One
The hero who will stand
Do not blame father
He is only a man
Why do i feel like i can relate too much?
ICZER 2 from iczer series has a whistling themesong too. I love both.
God this drove me insane till I found it again.
You'd think searching mega man songs will have this pop out out BUT NO!
Sad.....
Do you think that they will make an album for megaman 7 to describe bass?
Doubtful. I doubt they'd skip through that many mega man games or make albums for each of them. Besides, the music for mega man 7 was good but just not fitting of mega man I thought.
Metal Man I agree I can't remember a single tune from 6 or 7 or MM&B for that matter. It'd be kick-ass if they did the songs to the X and Zero series though wouldn't it?
Yes, yes it would.
bezoticallyyours83
I heard their next album would be X1.
Kenpokid4 Ooh la la! Where did you hear that? :3
Anyone else besides me picture Megaman talking to Beck when they hear this song?
"and everything was burning to the ground" = Capcom. Inafune is Dr, Light because he left megaman behind and created Beck. Beck is now the chosen one.
considering the fiasco that mighty no 9 has become, it is hilarious! even though I actually liked the game over all, I am still glad I didn't back it!
SKuLLMonKEY Hahahahahagaga
someone type the lyrics NOW
Huh, actually not late to a comment... woah. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to copy/paste real quick.
