Click “Run” in the Start Menu, or simultaneously press the Windows key and “R” to open the “Run” dialog box. Type in the command outlook.exe /resetnavpane (note the blank space) into the text field and confirm it by pressing “OK”

Close Outlook.
Launch Outlook in safe mode by choosing one of the following options.
In Windows 10, choose Start, type Outlook.exe /safe, and press Enter.
In Windows 7, choose Start, and in the Search programs and files box, type Outlook /safe, and then press Enter.
In Windows 8, on the Apps menu, choose Run, type Outlook /safe, and then choose OK.
Close Outlook, and then open it normally.

oh my goodness.... you were the only one who helped with my situation. I called microsoft and they couldnt figure it out, and I was like 'really?'. a couple of my email accounts in outlook stopped working and wouldnt reconnect after doing everything i knew how. Microsoft tried, and couldnt find out the problem. And all along it was simple Add-in issue. Thanks a million.

Hi RTF, just found your page; what exactly does "resetting the navigation pane settings" mean? My Outlook does not open; don't even register under Processes tab on the Task Manager tab. Just don't want to mess up the data on my Outlook.

Reset nav pane will reset the view which you have customised in Outlook. With this command you will not lose any data or functionality

It could be due to corrupt Outlook data file, use a third party tool like 'Stellar Repair for Outlook' to repair your corrupt Outlook Data File(.pst) and recover Outlook data within few steps.

I think I will have to buy another PC. It still has Win 7 Pro. I have issues with Outlook 2016 not opening once a month or more. Perhaps this is Microsoft's way of making me Upgrade? Also, my PC is running slower than usual. I appreciate your video but unfortunately, it didn't help.
