Thanks for watching! Make sure you check out the Outliner video to get the most out of Metadata! Do you have any questions about Scrivener? Throw them in the comments here and I'll do my best to answer them!
Thanks Sofiya - I have been wondering what metadata was and how to use it for a long time. I just never had the patience to play with it. This is exactly what I'v been looking for to help keep on track. I was using a separate spreadsheet but now I don't have to. Thank you so much for explaining this so well! This was really great.
Well into my second novel in a series, I've been looking at better ways to track my Data and use Scrivener more effectively. I didn't want to set up an external Excel Spreadsheet and this video gave me exactly what I needed. I've shared it with my writing group and will be sharing your videos weekly. Thank you so very much. You are clear in your presentation, especially in showing where everything is located. Thank you!!!
Just wanted to let you know that your content and presentations are great. Whether you intend on doing more or not, thank you for the content that you've provided thus far.
This is perfect. I've had Scrivener for a few years and updated to 3. However, i stopped writing a few years ago and now I am ready to use Scrivener to the best advantage. Metadata is something I was just thinking "How can I utilize this for tracking my writing"? I am so happy this video came up :D
Hello! Thank you so very much for this/your videos, they have made a huge impact on my writing! So, best way to keep track of foreshadowing? I created a custom metadata column as a list titled Foreshadowing and the drop downs are Needed, In Progress, and Completed. I am building an outline and there is so much that needs foreshadowed that I'd like to attach multiple specific items/actions/characters etc to an individual notecard. So as I'm writing the aggregate action sequences towards the end of with any of these attached, I can use the split editor function and write them into the earlier sections of the story side by side. (This software is SO COOL!) When the scene is highlighted in outliner mode and I am in the custom metadata box and have Needed selected from the list, is there a way I can embed something character A, physical item C, cartwhell action scene (your laugh here) so there may be divisions of Needed inside the foreshadowing metadata column? (Can use search function to check I got them all at the end.) I figure I may need to create multiple custom metadata columns, with drop down list items with the individual items/scenes/actions copied across all, then select/create as many as needed to assign multiple foreshadowings to a scene? (is there a feature I don't know about?) Any thoughts are much appreciated!
Thank you for your videos. I am trying to add a column in my Outliner with page numbers. Currently, Scrivener shows me the number of screens in a folder, but that's not what I need. I want to see how many pages each screen is. I know that Scrivener already displays this information in the bottom sub-bar when I'm in Scrivenings and Page Layout view. Is it possible to add this as metadata in the Outliner?
I have tried to learn Scrivener for years. I always give up. I just want to know how to add my damn name, or a titlepage....but no. Can't do it. Please help me!
What’s CP read? Are you talking about someone who reads your manuscript? Sofiya, you need to clarify some of the terminology you use. Otherwise, some interesting new areas of scrivener to explore
A confusing mess. No wonder people say Scrivener is unnecessarily complicated! What about the ordinary, everyday metadata (THE TITLE OF THE VIDEO!!)? Why go to 'custom' metadata without telling us about Metadata in the first place? Also, why go straight to Keywords and skip the Custom Metadata, only to then go back to it, after saying she would start at the top and work down? What is CP read Metadata? I'm going to need to find an explainer who does things logically and explains clearly. If you know of one please let me know. Thank you.

Thanks, this is really helpful especially when you are lost in your story and want to get it organized again! Great work!
This was super helpful. Thank you! I’ve been using Scrivener for close to five years and am still learning.

Very nicely done and easy to follow. Picked up some pointers, Thank You.
Thanks Sofiya! I'm a new Scrivener user and came here to learn how to add checklists. Much appreciated.

Very thorough video! Thanks so much :)
But how is this data used? Why would I want to do this?

Did you configure your Plot Points column based off of key words or a meta data list?
