Thanks for watching, everyone! I hope this cleared up some compile questions. Obviously, compiling can be complicated and there are a LOT of features and options. My #1 piece of advice is to click around on things and see what they do to your own compiling setup!

Hi Sofiya. Through a lot of trial and error and reviewing your posts (and other channels) I finally got my memoir compiled the way I wanted with Chapter titles and proper heading on each page. I'll be viewing your other videos for more tips. Thanks for helping me to get started.

Oh dang Polly, I'm sorry I wasn't around to answer your questions! I took a little bit of RUclips creator break. I'm so glad you figured things out and got your compile looking the way you want!

Thank you Sofiya. The video is really helpful. I might come back with a question or two. But thanks for the detailed walk through.

Great video! What does it mean when hashtag marks show up in your manuscript after you compile?

Thanks for this helpful video! Still have a question (sorry if you addressed this and I missed it): I compiled partway through writing because I needed a PDF of the whole doc as it was. Now I want to go back and keep working, but my project and daily targets are zeroed out. In other words, I want to see the whole manuscript word count and keep going with my targets but I can't. I've gathered from some forums that to get word counts working again I need to reset my compile settings and make sure all parts of the project are selected there, but the sections I have already compiled don't appear on the contents tab of the compile menu: I can't select or deselect them. Any help appreciated!

Hi Sofiya! I am hoping to somehow grab your attention here! I follow you on youtube but also on Twitter. I tweeted at you , but wasn't able to get your attention. I really love your website and your tutorials-- thanks for the great content! However, I have Scrivener for Mac version 3.2.3 and I have a big problem. My compile menu looks NOTHING like the one in your tutorial, any other youtube tutorial, OR the one on the Udemy paid Scrivener class I bought online! I am 1/3 done with my novel. I would love to compile the first third for review and treat it like its own 1st draft. I feel like polishing the first third would set me up to move forward more productively. Anyways.... HELP!!!!! I have no idea what to do next. Can I send you a screen shot? Upload a video? Tweet you a pic? Show up at your house with Crispy Cremes??? Anything. Please help me. I have a ton of hard work trapped in Scrivener and I can't get it out!!!!!

What do you do when there's certain scenes that are in Scrivener, but they're not in the Compile menu (right) and you can't see them there? I have quite a few scenes missing in my Compiling and can't figure out how to put them in so my result document is missing them.

Very handy thanks for all your work on these!
Do you happen to know anything about getting word count per character? Such as using the Radio Drama format. I've really been trying to get this automatically generated

I think I responded to you on twitter, right? I wasn't ever able to find that external script for it. :( Sorry!

How do I make certain pages omit headers when compiling?

I just want to export (or compile or whatever ) my detailed plan so I can move to my word processing program. No luck so far. I've tried all kinds of different settings, but no joy. Lots of blank pages, partials and so on. I've had the best luck with the compile feature, but I still haven't got it.

Hi. Thanks for this video, to compile in Scrivener isn't easy. At least the first times. I'm trying to compile my book of short stories and I feel silly. Thanks again.

I’m going to look but if you haven’t done it I’d love to see how it’s done going from scrivener to word to vellum :) thanks 🙏

Well, In S3 I name my chapters as the folder names. When compiling I get the extra, unnecessary, "Chapter One" in front of my chapter name... Still can't see where to undo this.

Hi! In Compile, should I have my folders AND scenes checked or just my scenes/ just my folders?

Thank you for your tips. I am having issues with compiling and hope you can help. My (scene) format is the same throughout the document. However, when I compile, I have some paragraphs indented while others are not within the same scene. Example: Section layout shown in the first paragraph is not indented while each paragraph after is. This does not compile as shown; it goes back and forth within the same scene. Any help?

I've noticed that happening with my exports sometimes! From what I've been able to figure out for my own problem solving, highlighting the entire section and making sure it's all the same style can solve it. If the styles aren't the same within the section (even if the font and size are the same) it can weird up the exporting. If that doesn't work, jump into the Edit Menu>Text Tidying>Zap Gremlins. Sometimes there's invisible code messing up formatting, and by zapping those gremlins, you can get the weirdness figured out! Hope that helps. ^_^

Unfortunately, Scrivener is so longer compiling my document. I rewatched this, but when I click compile, nothing happens. :-(

This compile screen looks nothing like what I see on Windows, and I don't have $1,000+ to buy a Mac, so any commenters can feel free to keep those cliched zingers to themselves.
