I saw the Kick Ass video "The ultimate dual battery system Education video 2016", and it was the absolute best instructional video that I had ever seen. I am sure this one is as good! Those Australian dudes know how to make great video's
Is the battery in the box grounded to the vehicle Chasis? And is that Anderson connection only the positive red cable coming from the Redarc? I am trying to DIY this but need to figure out how to make it removable. The Anderson plug looks like a good idea but now need to figure out grounding the battery when its not in the car.
@@GerardHand okay I’m trying to mirror this. So just run a negative AND positive from the starter battery via Anderson to the Redarc? Is the fridge connection fused in your setup?
@@Vink369 if you bought the car second hand someone may have turned the smart alternator funtion off that can be done on the ranger. Also if it has not been switched off it will start initially while the crank battery is being charged, but once it is full and the alternator winds down it could be cutting off without you knowing.
Fuses are in relation to the wiring not the DC to DC. For example if a cable/wire is rated to 100amps then the fuse needs to be under that rating so the fuse will blow before the wire heats up if it gets to close to or over its rating and catches fire. This fuse size was Also recommended by Redarc.
Well..., from my point of view there is a big problem with this box.Namely, I use a socket in the back of my city small car for auxiliary devices. This socket is always ON (even the ignition is OFF) When I had connected the box to the socket in the back of my car I drained my auxiliary battery from this box (when the car engine is OFF and fridge in a car was ON). When you drain the battery to the almost 0V there is no way back. No recharge is possible with the AGM or other lead-acid battery. You need to buy a new one.
Matt Demaskator Hence the BCDC1225D it isolates the crank battery at 12.7v to prevent a flat crank battery. In your case a volt sensitive relay would do the same job for you.
Sorry, I mixed up with low voltage disconnect www.australiandirect.com.au/buy/kickass-lvd/KALVD2AND However, VSR still does not seem to be helpful in my scenario because I need to cut off automatically my fridge from the auxiliary battery when the load comes to 50% of the AGM battery. VSR will cut off at 12.8V where it is almost 100% of AGM load. This way I'll never use my fridge for long in this setup. Correct me if I'm wrong ;-)
Great setup. It is what I am doing currently. Australian direct does not ship to the US, so I bought a 100aH Lithium battery and a Pelican case. Diagram on Redarc web shows all different setups as well as the use of a 3way anderson. Interesting it shows the red and blue to be used for solar and first battery. So you are saying you dont need the blue and I could just use the 2way andersons? Also, Are you using the same anderson input for both solar and connected to your starter battery? Would love to see a wiring diagram as Im am planning on the same system. Starter to charge my back up battery when driving, and solar when outback camping. Dual core running back to crank battery pos and neg. Redarc has pos and neg wires connected to auxiliary battery.

@@4estrnr472 the box comes with auto reset relays, and all fridges are fused.
@@4estrnr472 remember to keep your redarc warranty it has to be fitted by a qualified installer.
Great setup mate. Very neat and tidy.
Did you wire the box or your sparky? What did it cost you all up including parts and labour?
Great box. Thanks for sharing 😊
All prices are on 12v direct website and Redarc website. Most sparkys charge $100 an hour.
Really like the hold down rods and the bit thats bolted onto the tray. Where did you get that ??
Gareth Burton TJM but i think you can get them at Bunnings.
What are those mounting buckle things called?
It's a 40amp midi fuse not what I said in the video.
good video bro thanks for sharing
i have bought exactly the same gear! did you connect negative wire for solar (with yellow) to the common neg in the middle of the lid?
Cant remember exactly. Wired in by auto elec to maintain Redarc warranty as per their warranty warning on the paperwork.
How much will this box cost me without the battery and send it to KSA ?
KSA?
Message these guys.

I thank you
Does blue wire have to go to ignition switch on my 2019bt50,?
You would most likely have a smart alternator, so yes.
I have a 2019 Ranger and although it should have the blue wire connected, I haven’t and it seems to be starting and turning off fine. 👌🏾

hi im new to all this but is there a difference between a BC DC charger and a DC DC charger
www.redarc.com.au/forum/discussion/2438/vsr-or-bcdc--dcdc-
Can I put Lifepo4 for this battery charger n if so does it need a seperate lithium charger
Yes you can, it's only a matter of configuring the wiring from the dcdc. From memory its the orange wire. It explains it in the manual.
how did you get it into the tub?
Overlander 4x4 and Camping
Drill hole and grommet in the bottom of the tub front right corner.
how much does this box weigh? thanks for posting btw
Battery is 35kg box would be about 4kg and Redarc 4kg.
that is a hefty box- I better start working out- thanks for the info
Its 25amp charger. You would think 30amp would be safer than 60amp fuse..

I do not think so, because VSR cut off when 11V. I need it when 12V, which is considered half load at AGM deep cycle battery.

Disconnects at 12.8v

You just need to install a load disconnect module (you can get them from electronics places here like Jaycar) in between the fridge and aux battery.
