Good to see one is those in great shape still with its rear bumper still attached. Back in the late 90's/early 2000's those were our winter beats. Those town cars and Crown Vic wagons would take on a snowbank like a champ and whip great donuts. We had much mayhem in these cars back in the day. They took the no mechanical sympathy ever winter with no problem.
That is a really nice car! You knew you made it in life when you could buy and drive one of those cars. At least that one was a four door. They also made them in two doors as well. Opening those doors was like opening a bank vault door. Love to see that one again. Dean would be in his glory.
I love these Lincolns. They remind me of a modern version of the K series Lincolns in that they were the full sized senior models of the range. Unashamedly full size while Cadillac shrunk its Fleetwood in 1977. I have a cream 1979 Town Car. Cool car. Dean would love it. 👍👍👍👍
When I was a young man, I worked for a woman who owned a piano company, and she had a ship just like that.. She was a fair-sized woman, so the car suited her well...Cheers
The squawl of the Ford ignition key alarm of that era. I remember it well from my '79 Grand Markwagh. That had the Verible Venturi "carb" which on a good day could almost meter gas as well as my John Deere updraft. Back on nights in 3 weeks and look forward to my way too early Sunday morning blast of provincial existential intellectual stupidity. And a greasy flip.
Man, when I was in high-school, I took a very long road trip in a 77 Lincoln. Me and my 1st girlfriend never felt a bump in 6 hours of driving. It was pail yellow. Thanks for the midweek memory refresh! Cheers Scott! Junk's Automotive
Brand new, my Freshman year of High School. Buddy of mine drove his folks powder blue one to Junior Prom. It was one of the few cars bigger than my folks Country Squire wagon.
This disco Lincoln reminds me of a friends '77 Thunderbird. It also had vacuum tubes galore, powering things from flip out headlights to heater controls. The worst thing was the plastic connectors on the vac lines. They were brittle and broke very easily. I just plugged each vac line as needed. Unfortunately, the first time I drained the oil pan, lots of water came out first. Thanks for this Lincoln successful dive.
Boy, did the gas shoot through that tube into the carburetor! Looked like you were trying to siphon water out of a flooded cellar after a thunderstorm. That is one sharp old Lincoln, though. You never see a powder blue like that these days on a car that isn't a corporate color for a fleet of vans! Thanks for the visit to a real wheeled living room, Scott!
Dude Scott, Awesomeness... I used to have a 1979 Lincoln Town Car, Continental Cartier. Looked very similar to Mark's behemoth, except mine was white with red velour interior. 😂🤣😂 Incredible old car, it only ran on premium unleaded gasoline and got around 8 mpg. With a 24 gallon tank. Such a comfortable riding gas hog. I bought it 3rd hand in 1997, it only had 113,000 miles on it. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. 😊
I had a 1971 continental. Was surprised at its very low miles for being 10 years old at the time. After driving it for a couple of weeks i found out why it had low mileage...6 M.P.G.!!!!😢😢. lol
Wow. So many memories. My "adapted" Mom and Dad had a 1975 Town Car, Burgundy, white top, burgundy interior. We boys loved/hated that Boat. Mom "N" drove it to work at the hospital where she was a nurse with more qualifications then most of the docs she worked with. We graduated 1980 and I have many many great memories of that car and Family. Thank you for bringing them to mind.
I love those big old 70's Lincolns. I had a 77 Town Car for about eight years, drove it from California to Louisiana in 2001, lost it to hurricane Katrina in 2005. I bought a 79 Town Car a couple of years later, had it for about six years until I sold it. They ride and drive like a dream.
Nice old car. We didn't really get too many of these beasts in Australia, except maybe as limo's for very wealthy or government types. 😁 I'm sure Dean will be all over it when he gets a look at it.
Possibly parked before the corn fuel was a big thing. Never surprised at a ford to run well after being parked for a good minute or so. I am the sad bastard that went to wrecking yards, took those interiors out and reused the materials for my own old cars. Even those rust bucket models had some of the nicest materials and was so easy to make it work on different seats. I can't sew at all but hey, what are sisters good for. I lined her up with a nice guy and she made seat covers for my rigs
Nice to see this old Lincoln in such beautiful shape. I'm not a big Ford fan, but I do love cars from the '70's! Somehow they seem to always have something new to discover whereas cars of the '50's and '60's have really nothing new to offer anymore.
Love the old Lincoln's, and remember them running around when they renew and they had more sheet metal on them than a locomotive LOL started and ran so well, another great video looking forward to Saturday night!!
What a cream puff that is! Not surprised at all you would get that parade float running, a real gem. I bet it has the cruise control and "resume" button on the wheel. Set it at any speed you want, and it will float majestically along any interstate.
At 6:55 or so Scott said what I'd been thinking through the whole video up to that point: Dean would be drooling over this moosemobile. I recognized many common parts with the LTD I owned in the 80s. If I had more money, I'd probably own another one of these huge FoMoCo barges too, just for old time's sake.
I grew up loving big 70’s American boats as a kid in the early 80’s. In 2016 I bought a really nice 78 Granada 2 door black with red interior and my wife absolutely hates it and every time she rides in it I get all kinds of back handed comments from her about my taste in cars 😂
There are reasons why I don’t like Lincoln’s past 54, and its vacuum lines. In the early 69 Mark III they had a color strip on them so you could trace them. He does need to watch the frame cause they like to rust from the inside out. Good luck finding the correct steering wheel parts.
That car is nearly to modern for me: Tons of vaccum hoses make me confused. But at least it is still a fullsize heavy metal barge. Naming them Towncars is confusing. We in Europ drove to town with our smallest cars like those R5s.
I have to temper that with the fact that President Ford's motorcade, which was mostly Lincolns, was struck by an F2 tornado near Chicago without incident, passing within a quarter mile of the prez. Built to last.
Wow i can not believe that after 25 years of sitting it fired right up and sounds that good nice car cant wait to see a video of it on the road driving thanks for this video Scott see everyone Saturday.🍺👍✌
In the 80s and 90s when I was starting my family with never enough money I always drove those aircraft carriers. If I had to drive a cheap car it was gonna be an excellent cheap car. I really loved those cars.... when gas was really cheap.
When I was a kid There was Lincoln mercury dealer In Pensacola Florida Within walking distance Of my grandparents. We used to go kick the tires When these cars came out I still The old car brochures Dealership..... I love these land yachts

Thanks Mark and Scott for a look at the old yacht

Very nice Lincoln and well worth bringing back to life

Dean Machine. He's going to flip over that boat!
When I was a young man, I worked for a woman who owned a piano company, and she had a ship just like that.. She was a fair-sized woman, so the car suited her well...Cheers
As a kid I always thought it strange to look under the hood and see a giant factory “Folger’s Coffee can” hooked up to an engine.
Me too mate😊
I love the ford product “Folger’s” can and have none in my hoard of “spare parts” for cars I don’t own
It WASN'T a Folgers Coffee can.... It was a Sacramento Tomato Juice can.....lol....oh wait... The Lincoln's had BOTH...
Dean will be delighted to see how much you enjoy working on 70's Lincolns!👍
Noble beasts in their day; I remember them well.
Good on you for helping your friend like that Scott!
- Ed on the Ridge
Lincoln is really nice!
The squawl of the Ford ignition key alarm of that era. I remember it well from my '79 Grand Markwagh. Back on nights in 3 weeks and look forward to my way too early Sunday morning blast of provincial existential intellectual stupidity. And a greasy flip.
That’s a well preserved piece!
Dean is gonna love that big old boat.
First thing I thought, Dean is going to lose his mind when he sees it, haha. Nice job getting life back in her.
I love the twin coffee cans mounted on the inner fenders! You can never have too much caffeine!
Nice work on the carb rebuild. The car looks really nice, and it's a bit different from what we're used to seeing. Cheers Scott.
Man, when I was in high-school, I took a very long road trip in a 77 Lincoln. Me and my 1st girlfriend never felt a bump in 6 hours of driving. It was pail yellow. Thanks for the midweek memory refresh! Cheers Scott! Junk's Automotive
If you drove it to Florida,it may've been the one my Dad bought for Mom...;)
What a land yacht!! Amazing!! :)
Cheers Mark, thanks for sharing your beautil cars with us.
Awesome, love the colour!
Sweet barge!
Icon for the term Land Yacht. Nice survivor. These would go thru fuel pretty fast.
I started at Lincoln Mercury back in 1972. That all looks like home under that hood.
That is awesome to see a car that old in that good of shape thank you for the video
Those 460s are a peach. So quiet, smooth and torquey. My '77 has been off the road for a few years too. Maybe this is the year it comes back to life.
You know your serious about a carb when you have the huge pipe wrench on standby.
For fine adjustments! Haha cheers...
Thanks for taking us along. See you Saturday!
Sweet old Town Car...looking forward to the 47 Chrysler challenge!
Dean machine!
Brand new, my Freshman year of High School. Buddy of mine drove his folks powder blue one to Junior Prom. It was one of the few cars bigger than my folks Country Squire wagon.
I like it!
That Lincoln is sweet! Also, I appreciated the subtle forklift cameo in the background

Thanks for this Lincoln successful dive.
You've shown some nice stuff from Mark - this boat looks minty. Maybe you can buy it for Dean with the telethon money
🇺🇸👍 Those car ride great and comfortable, I like them big old boats👍
Egad! I drove them when they were new... doesn't seem that long ago

Such a beauty. Absolutely a Dean dream car. I hope that he gets to drive it one day. 🍻👍
Talk about a couple of friends whose automotive tastes are polar opposites---Scott: Little French cars, Dean: Giant domestic cars... It's all good!😎
Dude Scott, Awesomeness... I used to have a 1979 Lincoln Town Car, Continental Cartier. The 47 Chrysler is a beautiful automobile.
Nice to see that 460 running. Dad had a Cougar XR7 with that engine...
I had a 1971 continental. Was surprised at its very low miles for being 10 years old at the time. After driving it for a couple of weeks i found out why it had low mileage...6 M.P.G.!!!!😢😢. lol
WOW what a boat, a 460 no less
See ya Saturday
Love the old land yachts.my dad was a big Buick guy and always had big boats like this.. Thanks for the memory
Nice old Lincoln, just needs whitewalls. 👍
Put some Vogue tires on it. White wall with outer thin gold stripe.
Wow. So many memories. My "adapted" Mom and Dad had a 1975 Town Car, Burgundy, white top, burgundy interior. We boys loved/hated that Boat. Mom "N" drove it to work at the hospital where she was a nurse with more qualifications then most of the docs she worked with. That sure started up nice.
The Car of Juggernaut, as Bill Matheson used to say. What a monster!
Good Video Scott. The Lincoln was in great shape cosmetically. Look forward to a run and a drive. Thank you for sharing.
💯❤️👊👍
I love those big old 70's Lincolns. I had a 77 Town Car for about eight years, drove it from California to Louisiana in 2001, lost it to hurricane Katrina in 2005. I bought a 79 Town Car a couple of years later, had it for about six years until I sold it. They ride and drive like a dream.
The pipe wrench is a must for Carburetor repair. Next 3 miles of vacuum hose a must, and 500 different sizes too. Good job thank you ALL Stay safe
Cool Lincoln!!
Nice old car. We didn't really get too many of these beasts in Australia, except maybe as limo's for very wealthy or government types. 😁
I'm sure Dean will be all over it when he gets a look at it.
Cool to see one of those big old behemoths in such fine condition, sounds sweet too, perfect for a quick run into town for a pint of milk.
Mark's car looks like mint, nothing much you should do in terms of swapping parts.
Great looking Lincoln! Can't wait to see it on the road.
Possibly parked before the corn fuel was a big thing. Never surprised at a ford to run well after being parked for a good minute or so. I am the sad bastard that went to wrecking yards, took those interiors out and reused the materials for my own old cars. Nice old Lincoln and great work in the Carb.
The Lincoln looks like a sweet and well preserved time capsule!
That car is Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass playing "Volga Boatmen."
Now. that’s my kind of car. Thanks for the video.👌
Nice to see this old Lincoln in such beautiful shape. I'm not a big Ford fan, but I do love cars from the '70's! Somehow they seem to always have something new to discover whereas cars of the '50's and '60's have really nothing new to offer anymore.
Great old Lincoln! See you Saturday. Cheers! 😎👍🚙🏁🏁
Good ol car, just gonna be thirsty especially in town.
Thanks, Scott - see you Saturday!
Beautiful Town Car. Love the color scheme. Too bad the 460 is smog choked ! 👊😎👍
Hi!...really enjoyed this video.Amazing to see it run for the first time in 25 years.🇨🇦
Love the old Lincoln's, and remember them running around when they renew and they had more sheet metal on them than a locomotive LOL started and ran so well, another great video looking forward to Saturday night!!
Wow! What a great time piece! I remember those cars! A friend of mine had several of them!
Yes 💯
What a cream puff that is! Not surprised at all you would get that parade float running, a real gem. I bet it has the cruise control and "resume" button on the wheel. Set it at any speed you want, and it will float majestically along any interstate.
That got me hankering for a good old land barge, a freeway sled, long and low and cushy.
This big Mama is larger than the Titanic ! And I love those little oval windows on each side on the back . And that powder blue !
What a time capsule!
Your show appetizer was delightful. Thanks so much!
It was good to hear that car start up again. An amazing piece of automotive sculpture. Cheers.
Boy o Boy it fired right up even with 10 miles of vacuum hoses on it ,Great job as usual see you Saturday.
I grew up loving big 70’s American boats as a kid in the early 80’s. In 2016 I bought a really nice 78 Granada 2 door black with red interior and my wife absolutely hates it and every time she rides in it I get all kinds of back handed comments from her about my taste in cars 😂
Mine was medium green with a green bench interior and a 302 3 speed + OD manual transmission. Kind of miss it.
Love those Couches on wheels! thanks for the video, Cya on Saturday.
Great American Land Yacht, what a cherry ❤
Love those seats
There are reasons why I don’t like Lincoln’s past 54, and its vacuum lines. In the early 69 Mark III they had a color strip on them so you could trace them. He does need to watch the frame cause they like to rust from the inside out. Good luck finding the correct steering wheel parts.

Boy- excluding Dean from a vacuum hose era Lincoln project must have been a tough call to make 😅
Scott. Mark has a very sweet ride. Love those 70s barges. Mark has nice cars for sure.
Glad you shared a cheers to Mark from Wisconsin.
Love these cars. Much better than any Caddy.
Except in cold weather, Caddys did not slip their transmission from park into reverse and go into business for themselves. Beware.
I have to temper that with the fact that President Ford's motorcade, which was mostly Lincolns, was struck by an F2 tornado near Chicago without incident, passing within a quarter mile of the prez. Built to last.
@@centralillinoisrailpix453 typical 70’s Ford. We had a 76 F150 that always wanted to explore on its own.
How do? Caddy had 500 cubes in the 70’s. Lincoln had no convertible in the 70’s but Cadillac had the Eldorado convertible till 76’.
@@CharlesAtwell-or7bm Personally, of the lead sleds of that era, I love the Coupe de Ville from 1973, but my dad was more a Lincoln fan.
Good luck with it. Looking forward to this weekends edition of the show.
Best Wishes to everyone Scott.
Hey! No camera girl? Oh - just remembered the name of the fellow w/ all the old Chryslers back in 1971 - Mr. Kelley.
Wow, nice work rebuilding that smog 460 carburetor. Those engines had vacuum lines everywhere…what a beast.
Cheers from Northeast Ohio.
Wow i can not believe that after 25 years of sitting it fired right up and sounds that good nice car cant wait to see a video of it on the road driving thanks for this video Scott see everyone Saturday.🍺👍✌
Too bad Dean missed it :-)
In the 80s and 90s when I was starting my family with never enough money I always drove those aircraft carriers. If I had to drive a cheap car it was gonna be an excellent cheap car. I really loved those cars.... when gas was really cheap.
Frankers !!!
Cool ...LIMO !!!
Thank you for the video
See you Saturday ,
Cheers !!!!!!!!!
What a beauty. My Grandfather had an early 80s model in Dark Blue. I have his 85 diesel pickup in the same robin egg blue. (Powder puff blue)
LOve the old Lincoln! Also liked Scott's description of the '47 mopar as having a "Harmonica Grille" .Never heard that one before!
Maybe we can locate a powder blue leisure suit to fit whoever is going to float the Lincoln to the car show/party
When I was a kid There was Lincoln mercury dealer In Pensacola Florida Within walking distance Of my grandparents. We used to go kick the tires When these cars came out I still The old car brochures Dealership..... I love these land yachts
My mom had one of these in that emerald green. Man that was a beautiful car.
