Dan Ives brings so much light on why analysts don’t value Robotaxis or 2,000 Bots in Tesla factories won’t move the needle on their Telsa models because there aren’t enough details they can model in their spreadsheets. Most analysts don’t do probability analysis or their imaginations. They are risk adverse and would rather base their analysis on company guidance - details like - how much, how many, when, and the expected growth rates or ramp rates.
Tesla Robotaxi App demos, CyberCab concept vehicles, Bot demonstrations cleaning a CyberCab, etc. won’t move the needle significantly for analysts. The stock my get a slight bump from retal investors but not from institutional investors.

Dan isn’t the typical Analyst, I am very glad for that. Dispute his sometimes questionable fashion choices, he always gives a clear view on how the market is looking at Tesla and clear insight on his views. I 💯 agree with his near term views about the 2.5 and 2.0 Models impacts on price and the need for those to do well for Tesla to finance development and production build out.

As a CEO of a Bio tech new drug discovery startup, from my point of view, I found today's exchange helpful as well as a privilege to learn as a Tesla shareholder from your Q&A with Dan -Wedbush Securities. Is really clear his views on what moves the a companies valuation needle, from a few hundred of million, into the trillions. with his stock examples as well what the street need to see for the bears to hibernate. Of interest the Optimist valuation he rated at zero which was a awake up call how the street views its value today.. Thank you all for your important Q&A with Dan and thank you Dan for your dress code and views on Tesla future .

Consider the exponential line of best fit (ELOBF) for TSLA from the day they went public. That line of best fit price today is $363. On 12/31/25, the line is $653. On 6/30/29, the line of best fit price target is $2,599.76. I think Cathie Wood's group may have a higher price target for 5 years from now, but they just used the line of best fit number $2,600 to be conservative.

10:18 valuation doesn't reflect ai: the tesla ai is undervalued relative to the other mag 7 companies, because
what tesla is doing is unique and apropos for robots, whereas playing with LLM's has a lot of competition and free models are out there,
whereas Tesla doesn't have a "near competitor", maybe Waymo, but you don't see anything happening at scale with them.

The major point missed in this discussion is the massive financial requirement to fund the growth in technologies.
A real case of missing the woods for the trees. All of the focus here on new projects (the trees) not about the big picture in the woods being the EV business needs to be in a healthy financial situation to support that growth in the company.
The EV business is the source for these funds and it’s bleeding cash badly.
Positive Cash flow is king for businesses. Tesla has the issue of lower sales (even with the inducements of lower prices and low interest rate loans. The sales could have been 10 to 15% plus worse if these inducements weren’t offered.
The company suffered a $2.51B deficit in cash flow in the March quarter. That’s over $10B on an annualised basis. That’s quite possible as competition from Chinese manufacturers eat away at Tesla’s margins quickly.
China sales just released show a concerning ( for the company) 25% fall in sales.
There is a substantial capital requirement to fund continual AI R&D to progress development of current and future tech. That could easily run into the $10B’s.
Tesla has now gone into debt to the tune of nearly $3B after being in surplus in 2022. So we have a company here that is losing money (net income was down 55% last year), losing cash flow and going into debt to try to fund growth. Something has to give.
Tesla will never be able to compete long term with Chinese manufacturers in all tech. That’s been proven over the years.
In difficult times, consumers will buy good value for money vehicles most likely hybrids as more come to the realisation that the practicality of owning one saves time, money and just makes more common sense.
It’s all very well to have grandiose plans for the future but they need to be funded. The EV business is losing funds (and market share) quickly at a time when Musk needs the company to be increasing earnings not losing them.
Be interested in anyone has a counter argument here.

    • @user-zm6kj4gn4v
      @user-zm6kj4gn4v 17 дней назад

Exactly!! What’s more is the company is bleeding cash due to lower margins, overspending on AI. Going into debt to the tune of $3B just highlights that the company doesn’t have the funds to advance the growth of the new projects.
Cash flow is king and it’s suffering at the annual rate of $10B deficit ATM

Tesla is in the midst of a parabolic move, and those don't last. It may be driven by irrational exuberance or by short covering or both, but it's going to end soon. A sustained upward move can only be supported by earnings, and so far, none of the AI related stuff is generating earnings. It may happen in a year, or maybe not for 5-10 years. Nobody really knows.

Guys it easy to convey how far ahead Tesla is in so far as "AI" commercialisation is concerned. Just think about it like this whilst others are using "AI" to compose software programs, Tesla is already training "AI" to directly perform the task that the software program used to perform! This is what Karpathy called software 2.0 eating software 1.0... Prior to FSD version 12 Tesla had software programs (a large number of lines of C++) this has now been replaced by neural networks directly performing the task that the C++ code used to perform. The others players have large language models writing C++ code that requires human attention to finish and test before it works less effectively than the neural networks themselves... In reality using "AI" to write code is dumb and will be replaced by neural networks directly performing the task that the code would perform! Tesla are already there!

The fact he thinks robotaxi is more of an "end of this decade" impact and that he can't even let Optimus enter his imagination until what sounds like way into the 2030's if at all, shows you just how out of touch even he is. Wall Street is going to be slapped so hard with what is about to happen over just the next 2 years. Optimus and robotaxi will be ramping up so fast and hard 24 months from now (and beginning much sooner) how in the world can he not be paying closer attention to it? FSD has issues as described by an Uber driver in San Antonio. 60% of his rides, he has to get through a gate to an apartment. How does a driverless car do that? What happens if someone spills coffee on the seat? What happens when an elderly person going to a medical appointment needs help getting their walker into the car? What happens when the map takes the car a block away from the rider? Elon recently mentioned being close to one intervention per year. What would your insurance rate being if you had one accident per year? I'm rooting for Elon and FSD, but these are serious questions.

Agreed! FSD even at version 12 is pretty much useless since you have to babysit the car at all times which I find more exhausting in dense traffic than driving myself. I really would love FSD to do justice to it’s name, but after 6 years watching the system stepping left, right, and backwards, with very little forward momentum, I’m getting more and more pessimistic. I’ll perk up once Tesla is ready to take responsibility and liability for the car when FSD is engaged, but I’m not holding my breath any longer or expect it to contribute to teslas bottom line much anytime soon.

Wall st. Won't increase Tesla valuation today as long as they think they can buy the same opportunity at nearly the same price two or four years down the road. A catalyst for a price change has to be either a) a change to forseeable profit increase worth investing in now b) definite evidence of faith from knowledgeable insiders, eg 4 internationally respected car companies buy rights to FSD.

      Will it increase or decrease?

25k car will Osbourne the model 3 and maybe even the model Y. The only way the 25k car works is if it blows up sales and profits to the strong positive. That way we don’t care if it Osbourne’s anything. My opinion; that is why Elon is indifferent with it and is offering the carrot of other models based upon the 3/Y platforms as stated. The Cybercab will be a million mile vehicle designed with intent and purpose like Jeff thinks and also be of luxury quality like Herbert thinks. 4 seats facing each other. Self cleaning interior, wifi, TV, maybe more. As of now Uber rides are generally short where I live in Connecticut so those things I mention are not very relevant. 5g is everywhere so no one will notice the interior because they will be on their phones, unless the design statement knocks it out of the park, which I think it will. Just my opinion…klp

A $25k or low-30k EV doesn't seem like a good path. China is in that segment with very good cars. Competition will drive margins low.
Leave the EV-commodity market to others. Concentrate on the robotaxi market where there's no real competition and won't be for years.

A $25k car will not have the same features, performance, luxury, and possibly range as a model 3. Also, if they can get the price of the model 3 SR down by a couple thousand dollars, then put homegrown LFP batteries in it, so that it qualifies for the tax credit, all of a sudden they've got a $30k Tesla.

So.that's it.. tesla needs to show how they can make money off robotaxi and Ai.. not just tell about the tech.. actually show a road map for wall street to buy into the stock. Without this monetization road map, tsla is a car company and the stock stays pretty much where it is.

Not quite, energy will be bigger than the auto side and then there will be bots. Easier to have bots performing a few tasks in a factory than having a car drive anywhere.

I think people, especially this guy, are not realizing the true value of the bots. People need to realize that the bots represent slavery, and we have a model for that. The model is early colonial America, we went from a backwater colony to a economic superpower because of industrialized slavery in few hundred years. The Tesla bot is essentially slavery without the moral issues. We also need to realize the robot is way easier than the car to build, its true value is tied up in its programming, in that what useful tasks can it do. When you think about that, its totally worth spending 15 or 20 grand to buy a bot that can instantaneously get a software update and then do hundreds more useful tasks. I think the problem with battery density is simply a materials science and engineering problem and can be mitigated early on this journey with multiplexing the robots, by multiplexing I mean if it takes 8 hours to recharge a bot, then buy 3 and you have a 24 hours per day worker. Im all in on Tesla for generational wealth. I hope my vote on Elons pay package gets me in on the IPO of Starlink or spacex because Im definitely all in on those too.

You people always blow things way out of proportion with your expectations of what will happen at the next Tesla event . The same thing is happening for Aug 8. I personally think that this event will be a disappointment only because you have built expectations higher than they can possibly deliver. But I guess we will see now won’t we . I’m sorry but what knowledge is Dan basing all of his outlooks and responses on? Everyone is polite and no one is calling him out. Everyone waits a few seconds after he finishes. No one responds back his answers. If anyone does, he completely dumps his 5 minute explanation and agrees with their push back. He spins it and says that’s what’s he’s been saying all along. Come on! Even Biden makes better sense than Dan!
