Dick and Rick Hoyt, a father and son team who have been participating in races together for more than 30 years, were presented the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at The 2013 ESPYS on July 17. Rick, now 51, was born with cerebral palsy and though unable to use his hands or legs he and his 73-year-old father have run in more than 1,000 endurance events-including triathlons (6 Ironmans) and marathons (70) -with Dick pushing his son in a custom-made running chair.
YES YOU CAN.

He needs the award for 'world's greatest dad'... seriously
Such a sad day. I learned of these two so long ago that, as a fellow Bostonian, I feel like I lost someone I knew. Rest In Peace... forever, rest in easy peace.
Can’t imagine how his son feels
I met them many years ago at a triathlon in Florida. I will always remember Dick’s humbleness and the love he always showed for his son. RIP
R.I.P. Dick Hoyt. You will be remembered for your loyalty and love!
This son and dad team, really inspired and inspires me to go on, pursue my journey to life. God has always been there for them. Like Rick Hoyt, God, didnt leave us running or treking our life alone.
So blessed.
God bless you more team Hoyt.
I saw them at a race my wife was running. The crowd went crazy when they ran past us. One unforgettable moments
When I think about a father’s love, I think about Dick & Rick Hoyt. It saddens me to think that the world lost Dick, but it pains my heart even more to think that Rick Hoyt lost his dad, best friend, and hero. Dick Hoyt helped give his son a second chance at a good life. Rest in easy peace friend. You will never be forgotten.
Like they say, try watching this without crying. Great man. Great father. Great team.
Never in my life have I seen a more inspiring, moving story of love than that of Team Hoyt. I wish I was half the man that Dick Hoyt is.
I had the privilege of seeing Team Hoyt compete in the 2007 Iron Man race in Clearwater Florida . I had volunteered to assist where I was needed, it was such an amazing experience. When Team Hoyt crossed the finish line there were tears streaming down my face. God bless them both 😘
now they both are reuinited again... rest in peace you two legends... and thank you for making us learn so much about love and life... team hoyt for the win
Those Boston accents are strong baby!! Nothing But Love & Respect for the Hoyts!!
I want to shake the hand of the great father in the whole world!
I love this family! I know Mom, Dad, his siblings all had a part in raising such a beautiful young man. But, Dad, you are incredible. We love you and learn so much from you!!
they deserve of that award... so proud!!!!
Listening to Dad, you can really tell he is from Boston! I love them both so very muchies! They have held me up when I was down. Being the parent of a disabled child, I look up to families like them and they helped pull me along with them!
I love the contrast between the athletes in the audience who compete for wealth and earthly fame and this unpretentious father and son team who compete just to show the world how powerful and inspiring it is to be a selfless father and appreciative son.
Sometimes I love people.
Inspirational is an understatement!
best dad ever
actually crying after hearing of the news, but by god, if anyone can get through this obstacle, that family can
Reading through the comments and I’m saddened to hear about Dick passing. These two Hoyts have inspired me in the years passed to become a better athlete. To dare to challenge what I think I can’t do, etc…these two are THE definition of athlete. Truly legendary and inspiring to all. Rest easy, Dick. Your legacy with your son is awe inspiring and continues to challenge others to never give up, to never accept NO
I love that Rick is as normal as anybody else. It's not about disability but about being a human that breathes. everybody has the same value.
I absolutely love this father and son, duo. Such an inspiration!
Wish more stories like this were aired on t.v. instead of depressing news. God Bless Both Men ♡ Its a Beautiful thing ♡

Love and Strength in its Purest Form. RESPECT!!
감동적인 이야기 전해주셔서 감사해요!!
This story can always touched me!
the Iron Father. it's people like this I get a huge amount of pleasure meeting. my job involves meeting many people. I remember one lad in a wheelchair like Rick. I stopped in truck to let him and his carers cross. I got no thanks from the carers but I'd never forget looking at the lad sitting awkwardly in his wheelchair looking back at me and putting his hand up to say thanks.
Here in 2021 still crying with amazement and inspiration.
A Big Bravo to the Team HOYT. The greatest DAD of ALL times ! ;-)

"They can be a great people if they wish to be."
Although Dick has since passed away, the legacy of father and son will live forever. Don't forget the reason Dick and Rick did this: 1) To be together; 2) To show that people with disabilities should be included in all aspects of life.

I came to live in Boston in 2016 after being homeless in Indiana I didn't know much about Boston when I arrived but I've been in this city now for over 5 years and I wouldn't trade it for Indiana for all the money in the world! Because now I'm a part of its heritage! 😀🙏😊🎶🎆
Love.❤🙏❤🙏❤
R.I.P. Dick Hoyt!
When batman met Superman.
At 6:40 what does rick hoyt's voice sound like?
‘Yes You Can’
to the people getting ridiculously upset over the few downvotes, let me explain something...you can count on 1 accidental downvote for every 10,000 upvotes, no matter what the content ios, they're usually just accidental clicks, mostly from people on phones and tablets that didn't realized they gently swiped over the button. so chill out, and stop being childish, and dampening the beauty of this story over such a trivial little thing.
Damn ninjas cutting onions!!!!!!
I know them, but still can not watch the video's.
lol Diddy was like he's throwing up signs
damn onions
I love you in my hole heart is broken
