Jimmy V died 58 days after giving this speech, but for 11 minutes he was more alive than anyone in the room.
Facts
Its so sad to lose someone, I lost 2 parents and a brother all from cancer. My number is approaching. Jimmy V great man and what bravery and courage.
I loved when he said, the TV procter says I have 30 seconds to commercial. Then he said something in Italian( basically saying I'm gonna take as much time as I want because I dont have much time left♥️♥️♥️...Kevin
More alive than anyone in the world, it was truly powerful stuff
Yeah Jimmy V is an amazing person for all the hope he gives us and He actually died 55 days after giving this speech on March 4, 1993 and died April 28, 1993.
This speech makes you laugh, makes you cry, and makes you think.
Consider today a full day, ladies and gentlemen.
+SkilesHasFun wow
Ssematimba Allan tuck off
+SkilesHasFun Brilliant comment.
exactly
Skiles amen bro
September 2019. I'm a stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma patient being reminded to never give up. I'm going to beat this. I'm going to live. I love you all
We are praying for you !!!
You’ve got this pal, stay strong🙌
Keep that mindset, and you will win the battle. You have a lot of people rooting for you!
Keep fighting brother! YOU will win this!!!
Keep living my friend you have an amazing story to tell.....don’t ever ever give up.
I'm a 23 year old living with End stage renal failure and i came here today to remind myself to be thankful for all the things i have. i won't give up. best of luck to you all.
how are you doing?
+SuperJake169 alive and well. thx for asking
+John Doe What an awful thing to say. Karma gon' getcha...
+allyonightmare good luck man.
+allyonightmare Use CANNABIS OIL, its curing my dads 4 stage brain cancer!, Bro do it for real!
It should be illegal to put ads in the middle of a speech like this
Absolutely the most disrespectful thing to do. Run some bull shit add during such a moving speech.
I just came back to this video and got a fucking Sargento ad right when he was about to start talking about the Jimmy V foundation. Fuck whoever decided to advertise on this video.
Uhm… the V foundation official RUclips channel posted the video… so probably them. You really want to hate on them for it?
@@matthewmorse3307 sometimes RUclips puts ads on videos themselves. I've got pals with videos of only 20 views and a ten second home video clip and RUclips puts 30 seconds ads on it! YouGreedyTube I call them.
@@matthewmorse3307 seeing as how this is ESPN'S video you blame them. They request the ads on this video because they don't make money on views.
Having a bad day in 2019 and came here to get realigned ... thanks, Coach V
Christopher Ashford exactly.. I do that too.. his words always help you get the courage to do better and never give up in whatever you have going on
I only need to THINK of Coach V's speech to bring myself back to center & realize what is TRULY important in Life. Time Waits for No One !
Remember your family, your religion & The Green Bay Packers. Key to success Lol
I do it too. I getting a boost right now. Insperationl
I myself love to watch Jimmy V. speech. One of a kind. KPG
He barely had the strength to walk on and off the stage but for 11 minutes he gave everyone in that auditorium enough strength to fuel an army!
You are absolutely right! And, to this day, those 11 minutes inspire us to seek Victory Over Cancer!
@@thevfoundation Yes! 👏 Victory over cancer 🫶💪🙏
Nicely put! I saw it then and still watching it in 2023
It captures me how Valvano had such a "release" while he was up there. He was barely able to move and had trouble with the stairs, but while he was at that podium, he was, if for just ten minutes, free of his disease. It's incredible.
I thought the same thing Troy. Whatever energy he had its like he summoned it up, spoke his piece and was utterly spent afterwards. I still get goose bumps watching it especially since my father lost his battle with cancer five years ago and my brother in-law this past summer.
10 minutes that ensured that even though he was mortal, a piece of his spirit would live forever.
chiefymike I’m really late to this, however I’m sorry for your losses, those are staggering and it’s like he had one last moment within him and that’s when he used it, to inspire others because he wanted nothing more than to help them
🙏 the best!!
That's the power of God.
One of the greatest speeches of all time. Rest in peace
It's not one of it is the greatest
Ethan Bailey THE greatest speech of all time.
@Try Not To Avoid both great
The speech should be a requirement read for anyone in healthcare. I am a paraplegic, a recent massive heart patient and a Cancer survivor. Valvanos Speech kicks my butt whenever I loose sight that I too still have a job to do.....
Right up there with Lou's "luckiest man on the face of the earth"
When I hear "never give up" I think of two people: my mother and Jimmy V.
Cancer took both their lives, but not the lessons they taught.
Your mother is still with you. The soul is eternal.
Bless ur heart man
Cancer took both of their bodies. The soul has never died but can forget and hence we don't generally remember between bodies but this will be solved and for some already has been.
Thank you so much for your support of Jim Valvano and The V Foundation. We are excited to be celebrating our 20th anniversary and wouldn't be here without supporters like y'all!
Here for the 30th anniversary. Thank you for everything.
I am currently fighting cancer and I watch this speech often to inspire me to keep fighting. I love Jimmy V.
We got this, prayers are already up! I’m proud of you. You are supposed to see this message. God will carry you.
Keep fighting brotha! Done give up! This world needs you in it! I will pray for you and keep you in my thoughts! 💪
I seen this speech live and 30 years later I still cry every time I sit down to listen to it. After my diagnosis of MS and type 1 diabetes it was and still is a reminder to stay on my feet and keep fighting. I know those disease don't compare to cancer but that is the power of this speech to me. Good luck with your battle and you have my prayers that once you rid your body of it you never have to face it again.
@@samuelspencer6016 I am happy to hear you’re still here brotha! Keep fighting brotha! I am rooting for you!
Dont give up dont u ever give up ! God bless you
This, to me, is the most poignant speech ever delivered. It captures the essence of humanity--the tragedy, the triumph, the hope--that frames life itself. The older I get, the more I appreciate its wisdom.
absolutely
back when the award was given to people who actually...you know..had courage. Not men who think they're women.
So true. When I first heard Jimmy V give this speech I was in my early 20’s so I didn’t know a lot about the essence of humanity. But at 50 I have seen my share of tragedy, triumph and hope. Mr. Valvano couldn’t have said it any better than this.
We all need to be reminded of this; don’t give up, don’t ever give up.
One of dicks and coach ks finest moments loyalty!!
Got that right
On the 30 for 30 documentary his friend Sonny Vaccaro said it best, "God gave him words that night, to give to us."
Amen
On a similar note the Survive & Advance 30 for 30 is probably the best one of the series. It was on SC recently probably since both teams got to the final 4 this year. Fantastic every time you watch it.
I watched this live in 93. Almost 30 years later I still tear up when I watch this. Jimmy Valvano made a difference.
He still is making a difference. For all of us…
Yes. It takes me back to1992 when I watched my stepdad die a slow & painful death due to pancreatic cancer. He maintained that strong, positive attitude that me and my sister could not always do.
A very sad and inspirational speech. He literally got off his death bed to make this speech. He died a month later.
I'm a cancer survivor and may be alive today because of organizations like the V Foundation. Thank you to all that have donated to cancer research.
And it makes me angry that some POS people actually gave this a thumbs down. Only a pitiful excuse for a human being would do that.

ONE purposeful dislike for this video is shameful
Me too.I love Jimmy V..Braver than I ever was..
This speech should be shown in high school speech classes everywhere, the first day. 101 on how to speak with passion and personality. This was the first time I've seen this right now. One of the best speeches I've ever seen, if not the best.
I was shown this in High school, from a oddly stereotypical HS gym teacher, that missed out on his dream of being an NBA player. What I liked was that he kept it real, and I kept it real with him when I accidentally broke my friends arm, and he didn't report me. What I liked even more, that with the thought in my head that my brother dislocated his knee and he slowly walked over and said, "call the nurse", and that ride ended his football days in HS, just like when he dislocated his knee as a kid. When he saw I was rushed to. He ran. Whether or not is was because of my brother or mom, he ran. I remember being in class with him and he mentioned my brother's story: I want to be able to play with my kids. Well he is playing with his son. My nephew is a brat, but god damn, Coach V had an amazing speech, and I live to laugh, cry, and think every single day of my life.
I am here for my speech class
I just watched it in my hs class
Im 6 years late to this comment but we watched this in my hs communications class
30 years later and this still makes me cry. It is even worse now because cancer is trying to take my father from me. I am participating in a communication class tomorrow and had to choose a speech that inspired me. I am using Jimmy's as my example.
Cancer sucks o have raised almost 4000 for the relay America cancer society people ask me why bother I been doing this because it's what's i do to help raise money because I love doing it ♥️
Prayers for your father! 🙏🏼
Prayers to you and your Father! I’ve seen Jimmy V’s speech at least a hundred times and I’m crying again right now watching it!
I come back often to remind myself of how Important it is to Enjoy Everyday we are Blessed to Breathe and Live ❤️
My condolences to your father, and what a coincidence I’m doing an assignment choose and talk about some of the greatest speeches. I choose this.
“it may not save my life, i may save my kids life, it may save someone you love” those words are immortal ❤️
The most heartbreaking part is knowing that he didnt get that chance to present the award the next year.
I know right but the good thing he is in a better place and he doesn't have to suffer from cancer!
he died a month later
The beautiful part about it, is this is the way he left. His last speech given was one of the best of all time.
This speech has legitimately helped me get through some rough times. Man was about to die from cancer and willed himself to stand up there and give some of the most profound words of wisdom anyone has ever given, if that doesn't make you think you can do anything you set your mind to I don't know what will. Jimmy V may have been taken from us too soon but he truly won at life and gave more to the world than most people could ever dream of. One of the most inspirational human beings in the history of sports.
"LISTEN!... I'm 21 years old... The kids I'm coaching were 19"..
lol..
"Don't give up.. Don't ever give up."
Carl Gustov NEVER
I try to listen to this and Stuart Scott's ESPY speech at least once a year.
Same here
Same here
Absolutely
21 years later, the award goes to Caitlyn Jenner. What the fuck happened to the world???
makes me sick.....liberal idiots. I agree ssematimba
+Tommy Heinz More people talked about that POS Bruce Jenner then they did why they were there. So, no - it didn't help. He's a scumbag Kardashian like the rest of them
+Carrie Stewart What exactly does Caitlyn Jenner winning the award have to do with "liberal idiots"? I'm a liberal. I don't agree with her winning the award either. But if you ask me, it has zero to do with liberal vs. conservative. Do conservatives just take ANY possible opportunity to blame liberals?
I STILL don't see how that son of a bitch got it.
+Ehab Alhosaini Lol, dont use logic or science on conservatives. If bounces right off of them. It is their greatest strength.
My father died in 1993 as well from cancer. And although we were just normal people, the amount of people that attended his funeral (standing room only) was a testament to the individual he was. Everyone from my neighborhood where I grew up was there, everyone from his job (that he was on for 25 years) was there, including the District and CEO of the company. You don't have to be a celebrity, just a wonderful person, with a wonderful personality, that people respect. It's been 21 years and my only regret is that he did not get to see the woman I have become and watch my daughters grow up (who at time of his death were 1 1/2 and 1 month old). My mom and I never let a day go by without remembering the man he was :) My dad was at home the last month of his life. Our dining room was literally changed into a hospital room, because my dad wanted to live out his last days at home. Two days before he past, we had to rush him to hospital, I was so glad that I was in the room when he took his last breath. If you have never known or witness someone succumb to Cancer, then you can't relate. This may be why there are 234 dislikes to this video.
I am not even religious but sure he watches you from above.
Your an inspiration to me, may I add u on FB???
thank you MzPami72 for putting your experience into words, as I went through something similar with my sister and uncle. Its been almost 13 and 17 years respectively. Your words brought it all back so vividly for me, and no it wasn't a pleasant experience. But I was there, I heard him breathe last, and she held my hand. I said goodbye to them, and miss them everyday.
I went through the same thing when my grandfather died of cancer, as my grandparents raised me for a good portion of my life, so I can still only imagine. I knew full well when he was alive that he was proud of me, but apart of me died the day he went. For years after I tried to do things to make him proud even though his physical body was no longer on this Earth. Watching people who are really close die can be extremely devastating regardless if it's from Cancer or something else, but if they were of huge importance to you and others on this Earth, it can create a bigger impact than just about any event one will experience in their life. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm sure with my grandfather looking he and your dad are likely throwing a party right now, witnessing the both of us pursue the rest of our lives.
Watching this in 2024 as the NC State Wolfpack is getting ready to play in the sweet sixteen!! Coach V still brings me to tears. May he RIP!!
Ain’t it special. Now they’re in the final 4 for the first time since that 83 run
This speech made me laugh, it made me think, then it made me cry, truly beautiful.
bond james then u my friend had an amazing day
lol
No matter how many times I see this. I always get all choked up
yep me too
Amen Brother! I watch this speech often and it gets me every....single...time...
Me too typing as I’m fighting back the tears
Same. It's a message that doesn't stop giving.
I lost my Dad to Cancer in 1982, he fought till he had nothing left...I was 14 years old. Whatever comes my way I will never give up...like my Father...and Jimmy V.. Inspiration to us all..
I come back to this speech often. When my life gets to be too much and I need some inspiration, I watch Jimmy V leaving it all up there on that stage. I laugh, I cry, I'm moved. This speech epitomizes what it means to be human, to be spiritual, to believe in others and yourself. It is very hard to describe in words what this speech means to me, but I can tell you, when I'm done watching, I feel much better and life seems to take on a different tone. One that is more comforting, more motivating. Thank you Jimmy. The best speech I've watched in reality or in a movie hands down.
agreed 100 % Eric
Very well said. Jimmy V's message here is immortal and regardless of what is occurring in life I always find his words so important and relevant to me. I've moved to tears through empathy towards Coach V words, and yet still I'm left feeling happy I can just FEEL as a person his passion and messages of love, struggle, and motivation.
Anyone who knew Jimmy V personally was blessed truly.
May I recommend an inspirational speech by a high school classmate of mine. ruclips.net/video/RS0b8Kkks0I/видео.html
WELL said I feel the exact same way ,when I am lost ,and at the LOWEST mental stage off sadness ,I listen to JIMMY. V ,AND HIS BEAUTIFUL WORDS MAKE ME WONT TO LOVE,AND STAY ALIVE
Well said
The money from the ads on this better be going to the V Foundation RUclips.
who’s here after the NC STATE win March 31 2024 ?
Women's team also won today to reach Final Four too.
@@CC-rb1yf I didn't realize that. How awesome. Thanks for letting me know.
Dj burns and the boys putting on a special show
I'm here guy
Coach V would be proud of his boys no doubt
This man left his soul and that stage that day...what a human being and he will never be fotgotten
Patrick Welsh An amazing man, indeed!
I'm a big time University of Houston fan and was really bummed out when his NC State team beat UH favored team in the last second of the 1983 NCAA Championship game. I couldn't understand how such a underdog team could beat one of the greatest college basketball teams of all time. As time went on I realized how it happened. That NC State team played with the never give up, don't ever give up heart of their coach. What a true champion Jimmy V was.
well said bro....there was something very special going on....
You are very kind to say this, I am from Raleigh and lived 2 miles from State, and State is my first love, we ( NC State and all the fans of State and Jimmy V) are lucky to have had him in our lives for the brief time we had.
The real reason again he died he was coaching and commentating and doing both.... Also what killed him were the allegations against him that were damaging about recruiting violations.... Both of them all at once were too much...
This was about 5 months before I was even born. I learned of this speech when I was only a teenager, yet at 30 years old I still come back to this speech from time to time to build myself up again and realize there is still hope. I’ve experienced loss and pain in my life including the devastation of cancer but men like this who never give up are what keep me going and supporting my family. My family is all that keeps me together and gives my life any meaning. This man was barely able to walk up or down the steps to give his speech, yet over 30 years later he is an inspiration to so many people ❤
My all time favorite speech by the man who was responsible for my lifelong love with the game of basketball. He was a spectacular man.
WorkshopAddict Same here. That WolfPack team in that tournement was the exact time I started watching basketball. I sensed something special about them around the sweet sixteen. I was only 12 years old. That team...that man...will always have a special place in my heart.
I love the part about his first coach's speech. haha
He said about why he didn't lose all his hair during chemo, "My contract says there is only one employee at ESPN that is bald"
WorkshopAddict Godsend Of Greatness🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
yep
"It may not save my life. But it may save my childrens'"
Damn man.
"It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul" That goes beyond whatever may take us, may it be cancer, AIDS, sudden death, etc. Jimmy V was right. All that we have lost we feel them everyday. No one can take that from them. Ever. I hope everyone who has lost someone out there is doing ok and we are all in this together.
I laughed
I thought
And I cried
This is beautiful
Who's here watching this during COVID quarantine? Hit like. Hope you have a great day!

My dad fought to the end and never gave up. He lost his battle to cancer 36 years ago he was 43, I was only 14. At 50 years old I still cry for him. But losing him has made me love life and appreciate everyday I wake up. Rip dad 6-13-82 forever in my heart.
Alan Frank Thanks Alan, my dad went through the same scenario. Too late...diagnosed Feb 82 died June 82. 70 lbs when he died. Was a construction worker built like a brick shit house reduced to looking like a little boy in mans clothes. He suffered so terribly I see it in my sleep sometiimes. All the therapy in the world could never take away that image that remained inside my head all these years.
I'm sorry for both of you guys loses godbless u guys
I have one amazing thing and one sad thing.
First, notice how humble of a man Jimmy is. Usually when someone has an acceptance speech of an award, they carry the award with pride. Notice that when he is giving his speech, he didn't touch it, he didn't glance at it, he didn't even think about the award. The point of his speech was to get the word out about such an awful disease.
Second, This award was given in March 3rd 1993. Jimmy Volvano died on April 28, 1993. To me this is heartbreaking because he said, "I'm gonna be back here next year to give this award." and he didn't even make it a whole 6 months with his disease. He didn't get what he wanted, to hand out the Arthur Ashe award. This is the most inspiring speech I have ever seen and I tear up every time I watch it.
Not even a whole 2 months did he make it after this. Truly courageous.
Me too.
Just went to the 2023 Jimmy V Classic this year and man, you forget how epic and powerful this speech is. So many life lessons: think, laugh, and cry. That’s a full day Jimmy! 🐐
Like out of a movie. One of the best live speeches ever.
It is the best speech ever
Yeah so inspirational!
This Speech is almost 30 Years Old…. And it needs to Remembered Every Day… Jim says so much in 11 minutes…. Don’t Give up … Don’t Ever Give Up ❤️
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
It’s crazy he died just a month after giving this speech. You can see the pain in his eyes when he talks about wanting to present the award the following year, I think he already knew that probably wasn’t going to happen. What an inspiration, what a legacy. This might be one of the best human beings to ever walk this earth. Rest In peace Jimmy Valvano.
Cancer can take away my physical abilities. It can not touch my mind, it can not touch my heart, and it can not touch my soul. Those three things will live on forever.
Whenever I think to myself that I have it rough I come here to be humbled. This video is so empowering and breathes life into you. Rest In Peace Jimmy.
Who in the world could possibly give this a thumbs down? One of my favorite people to ever live!
some ppl are evil bro
The gift Jimmy doesn't even know he gave us all. I comeback to this speech, so, so often to appreciate the little things and not give up when it's all I want to do. ❤
My father passed away this past Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the age of 70 ~
From the very beginning of my life, Dad shared his love of sports with me ... and so, it was only natural that when he was stricken with cancer nearly seven years ago, I immediately brought up the Jim Valvano ESPY speech.
We both loved the entire speech when we heard it live ~ but during Dad's fight, we focused on three particular parts:
Laugh, think, cry ... that's a heck of a day.
Don't give up, don't ever give up.
Cancer may take away all of my physical abilities, but it cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul, and these things will go on forever.
In addition to the peace and inspiration that it brought my father and me, these words have had a profound affect on my life. Despite loving Jimmy V and his speech, I may never have focused so much on these words had Dad no gotten sick.
A lasting tribute to my father, that while I was trying to inspire and lift him up, my life was changed by these words.
I lost my father back in February to lung cancer. I remember watching this live with him back when I was kid
I miss him so much. He was such an enthusiastic coach. I use to love to watch him get excited. It got me excited. Absolutely one of the greatest coaches in history!
"I got tumors all over my body and I'm worried about some guy in the back saying 'thirty seconds'...hey...a fanabla"
Truly Italian it made me tear up lik
Do not give up. Do not ever give up. I will not forget these nine words.
it's really only 5 words, 4 of them were repeated for some odd reason.
XenoContact it's actually seven words "Don't give up Don't ever give up" and there the most poignant 7 words ever muttered in a speech
As long as there is life and disease on this earth, this speech will be timeless.
Truly an inspiration. I have Stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer but am fortunate to have the world's best radiation oncologist who says I have a 90% chance for a cure. Yet, I bitch and moan -- frequently using my cancer as a crutch to gain sympathy and give me license to indulge in self-pity. Yet this brave man just weeks from his demise managed to spend his final days bringing hope and joy to others. What a man.
You beat it?
Watching in 2023. Still inspirational! I’m 47 now just like Jimmy V when he passed. He had so much more to give but what he gave us is everlasting.
My grandson was contemplating suicide not long ago. I had him listen to this....and he is still alive today and his attitude is completely different. Thank you Jimmy V for your perseverance and courage to save my grandson 🙏
And Bruce Jenner is gonna receive the same award given to Jimmy V? That ought to be the first sign of the Apocalypse.
Sick
Matthew Wu Caitlyn*
That makes me sick
It was that football player and his speech was wonderful
Devon Still received the award on behalf of his 5 yr old daughter who is in remission. Do your homework before you comment
Watching Stuart Scott's Espy speech on ESPN sent me here. Both are great R.I.P to both
Throwing an ad in at the tail end of the speech couldn’t be more disrespectful. Such a heartfelt and inspiring message that has helped countless individuals should not be interrupted for monetary gains.
This made me laugh and cry all at the same time. It is truly life changing.
now all you have to do is think
344 people gave this a thumbs down? I would like to say I'm shocked but that's just humanity for ya!!! One of the best speeches ever and the 30 for 30 was awesome as well.
You have to remember, a lot of people will go to hell too. Ignore them, they don't listen and will never change.
I think Jimmy V would be very happy to know that he's still motivating people to this day. Laugh, cry, and think everyday.
One of the greatest speeches of all time.
RIP Stuart Scott
Yea he did. But fuck him is a little rough.
My son transitioned recently, having fought cancer for 7 months. He had me watch this with him early on. He got so much Inspiration from these words, and thus gave him strength to deal with all he was facing. They are likewise helping me going forward.
My favorite speech of all time
I am perpetually amazed at how hobbled and hurt Jimmy V was walking up those stairs and how ALIVE he became once he was behind the dais. I can't imagine the strength and love and focus it must have taken.
I love that ESPN continue to be committed to the Jimmy V foundation all these years later. Coach, I believe we are closer than ever to finding a cure for this awful disease.
I’ve probably watched this speech about 8 times. It never gets old. RIP Jimmy V 🙌🏻
Laugh, think, and cry can make the pain go away for a while. Cancer can talk your physical abilities, but it can't take my mind, body, or soul. Never give up. Never give up. When I get get really down I listen to this inspirational speech that I never forget. Thanks Coach.
Every time I Think I have a Bad Day I come and get my Ass Kicked by Coach Valvano as Im a Cancer survivor myself!! Jimmy V was a Nut!!! But He Never Quit and his foundation is Wonderful and doing Great Things!! See you in Heaven Sir!!
One of the greatest moments in sports history, and it didn't take place on the court or the field. To have met Coach Valvano was an honor. His words of encouragement when I was researching colleges were incredibly uplifting. I'll never forget his words, his warmth and sincerity. I'll never forget him. Coach, you're some kind of wonderful. I cry every time I watch his speech. The college hoops season isn't official until his ESPY speech is broadcast. Play ball!
a beautiful soul taken long before its time rest in peace Jimmy..
Brian Serra amen
30 years later, we're still hugging you, Jimmy V. ❤️
Jimmy is one of my heros. He led his life with dignity even when facing death. His words should be an inspiration to us all.
I watch this speech about 6 times a year. Jimmy V you are so missed, your words are always an inspiration to me and I know millions of others as well.
Amen Jimmy V! We need to remind ourselves everyday .. “don’t Give up, don’t ever give up”
Thank you Jimmy Valvano .. Rest Easy Coach !
These days, we all need that reminder!
I’ve been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. 6 months in and I’m kicking it’s ass. I watch this speech every Saturday. Words can’t describe what this speech does to me and for me. Jimmy V was a one of a kind special person. Rest In peace Coach V. You’re my inspiration. God bless everyone!!!
keep fighting man, sending prayers.
KICK ITS ASS BABY!!! Sending love!
Buddy, same here. AML dx 8 yrs ago. BMT 7 yrs ago. I watch this speech every month or so. God has all of us. Even when we forget, he never will. Godspeed buddy!
Keep fighting!
I come back n back to watch this vid as a reminder ppl no matter how bad or hurt your life feels at this moment. Jimmy V knew his days were numbered as all of ours are too but he looked at death straight in the eye and said hello im not afraid of you. Memento Mori. Do not fear death it's natural.
I’m a 21 year old in college and whenever things get tough or hard and I feel like giving up I always resort to this video. It never ceases to make me emotional and really think about my life and what I’m doing. Rest in peach Jimmy ❤️
Never give up
I'm super impressed that it moves you with how old you are
There IS HOPE for the future
All of you should watch the 30 for 30 on the 1983 NC State Basketball team if you like this. It is amazing, you will be moved to tears, laugh your butt off, and by the end of it, you will be so motivated.
The man was bigger than his disease and his words still hold the weight of the world. Thank you Jimmy V
I tear up every time I watch this...Jimmy was an amazing man!
That guy that was in charge of the "flash screen" who Jimmy told, in Italian, to go "BLANK" himself, voted 653 times for the dislike

Congrats on the basketball hall of fame Jimmy. You’ve inspired us all.
Truly helps when you need a "coach" after your parents have passed.
We are so sorry for your loss! Thank you for sharing with us that his words are comforting to you. We wish you well during these trying times.
hey man, im praying for you🙏🙏
I was directed here to watch this video as weekly challenge from my five-minute journal. And I'm so blessed to have learn something new. And I pray for all cancer patients for hope and laughter even in the hard times. May God bless bless and heal all♥️💛
Jimmy V thank you for this speech it was one of if not the most powerful speech I ever heard in my life.
Without question, the most inspirational speech ever given by such a terrific coach and humanitarian. Don't give up, don't ever give up.
I always keep coming back to this
Absolutely incredible words. Just as poignant and emotional today as it was back in '93.
Don't give up. Don't ever give up.
I've tested positive for Schitzophrenia, ADHD, Tourettes, OCD, and PTSD. My gym teacher had us watch this today, and I'm glad I saw this. One more piece of motivation to stay strong and stand my ground. I'll continue to fight my mental illnesses
You don’t test positive for adhd, your diagnosed, same thing with ptsd and ocd. So your lieing. And what are you post traumatic about.
Jimmy V was always amazing. Who can forget the 83’ Wolf Pack team that won it all, having to go through Ralph Sampson’s Virginia team and the high flying Phi Slama Jama? But his true excellence was personified in the words and emotions of this speech and in the way that he lived! I love you Jimmy V and every time I listen to this speech it brings to me tears and joy simultaneously!
One of the best speeches I have ever heard!!
This made me think, laugh and cry. Truly motivating video
Did I laugh, did I think, did I cry? I think about this before I go to bed. What a quote
