Superb video... absolute delight to watch 4 lurchers working in harmony with ferrets and no nets like this... not an easy thing to achieve... hats off to you all. Great stuff! All the best, Steve
My father had ferrets we used to go up the hunter valley musselbrook denman area when I was 10 we get 100 plus bunnies a day we’ll definitely brings back memories
@@DougCraigTheFerretMan yeah fun times as a kind into my teenage years I’m in Queensland now so no ferrets a loud and I really don’t know why they are banned in QLD the long net isn’t something I’ve seen used was good to see it in action I love rabbit stew we can get frozen rabbit in Queensland but expensive anyway great video
Hi there Doug just a question the finer whippet as I have one would you recommend to breed to a type of dog with more steminer and if so what breed , ie kelpie working dog or better bred whippets etc , my whippet gets knocked up quick after a run ,interested in your thoughts . Cheers.
Depends where you are and how hot it is I like to cross them with Deerhound x Greyhounds (Staghound) but you need to get the mix right for rabbiting ie not bigger than 23 inches to the shoulder the stags give them more stamina, better feet and bones, Kelpie cross is a good mix but they need a lot of work and can be challenging to train but great in the heat and very smart Collie crosses are good too heavy on the whippet side 7/8th whippet 1 part collie would me my pick, really its horses for courses the bigger dogs do better on the hills but don't turn as well as the smaller dogs.
@@DougCraigTheFerretMan … Thanks so much buddy , much appreciated with your thoughts , My whippets light and gets tired after a couple of hard runs then just wants rest lol , the cross breeding definitely something I was thinking about but like you say horses for courses with different dogs , I’ll definitely take into account on what advice you given me to think about , I like your dogs they are brilliant in what they do on rabbits , now I’ll think about what I’ll breed with and see how that goes , thanks again for your reply to mate that means a lot mate , cheers I’m enjoying your videos to and only discovered them recently so got a few to catch up on 👍
Got a lot of videos to catch up on, had a bloody heart attack so not been well enough to do much but out of hospital and on the mend now so will be able to catch up on a bit of down under bunny bashing!
