Oh man that song! lol. That song is called the "throw up song" when I was younger. Because my whole family( aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins). We rented vans to go to Yosemite National Park. Almost EVERYONE except me & my parents. Got sick on the way up. That song was playing on the radio, loudly. lol

Thanks JayRah....LRB was a very popular radio band when I was young. I know you would enjoy Lonesome Loser as well. More of a up tempo, rock beat....very great song. Ex girlfriend and I would sing this together in the old party days!!

IMO, they are reminiscing about the old swing days... It really does evoke nostalgia. The jazzy brass is key, but the imagery is beautiful and sweet.

I’m almost 60, and I can still feel the breezes blowing through my 13 year old mop of hair and listening to theLittle River Band . . . I swear, it was ALWAYS Summer with them.
What an era, I was just catching my breath as BOSTON was introduced to the world by storm, and needed some calming down. Little River Band, Seals and Croft, The Carpenters, John Denver, all of these calming, melodic artists which helped spawn the total Anti soft rock platform of Punk, which was a rebellious rant musically that I recall being spawned in the London Underground. But I digress.
    Loved the era.

When I was a kid, we had a pretty good school bus ride to school in the city. Our bus driver, she was cool. She had a little boom box and every morning she’d be playing music like this. This song in particular. I’d always sit behind her just to listen and set my mood for day. Remember seeing her looking at me in the mirror with that smile, like yeah he’s feeling it😄

These guys were some of Australia's top session musicians, and guys who had all been successful in other bands. Very high level of musicianship, songwriting and production. they sold truckloads of record in the late 70's/early 80's. "Lonesome Loser" and "Lady" are two other great pop songs, and they probably have 10-12 others I can't think of off the top of my head. John Farnham ("You're the Voice") was with them at some stage, also

Yeah, that perfect, seamless seventies production can't be beat. And "contemporary of Ambrosia" just means that they existed at the same time as Ambrosia and were releasing music at the same time as Ambrosia. This song was a huge hit in 1978, meaning it was played on the radio all the time the way Ambrosia was. And that initial brass section flourish that you liked was placed there because the lyrics mention 1940s big band leader Glen Miller.
