It's not as hard as this video suggests anymore. You don't need Thunderbolt. You can use the Belkin charge & sync cable (made for VR) and everything with the Studio Display will work with just one cable (to the Studio Display anyway) - webcam, speakers, USB-C ports, 5K@60Hz. Lots of folks have had success using this. Then you can just install bootcamp drivers on your PC and you'll get brightness control too. You just need a relatively recent GPU that supports DSC, namely Navi or later GPUs from AMD or RTX GPUs from NVIDIA.
@@billyjick9627 you'll have to get from eBay or Alibaba unless you live in china. Unless this changes in the future, it's not on Amazon. But do a search for "huawei belkin display vr", it'll be a black cable that has 2x USB a and 1x display port that merges into one thunderbolt 3.0 out. I bought mine on eBay
I don't think it was the bandwidth of your original adapters, I think it was that your cable wasn't bi-directional. Most of those cable adapters (like the Uni) are unidirectional and meant to flow the other way. A bidirectional cable should work.
The cable suggested works, but you have to make sure to configure your graphics card. I have an older MSI Trident Arctic 8th Gen w/ NVIDIA GTX GeForce 1070 (~purchased in 2018) and it would just flicker black (and nothing else) at first. Killed me for a week or so, but I figured that it doesn't make sense that a signal is being sent but it was just flickering. So I attached two monitors to my PC, configured the StudioDisplay to output via NVIDIA Control Panel to 3820 x 2160 (and set it as my default monitor) - and boom, it worked. Looks like some older video cards just can't support/output the signal nicely for 5k resolution.
Thank you for steering me away! I've been wondering how it could work. I guess I'll settle for a 4k monitor with multiple display inputs and height adjustable at no extra charge. Hopefully it looks good enough for MacOS.

I have been fighting the same problem after upgrading my Apple Mac Pro to Mac Studio and Studio Display. I have been trying multiple cables and adaptors from Amazon (and returning them). I have the recommended Cable Matters 8K DisplayPort to Thunderbolt cable. It works well from Mac Studio to an older DisplayPort monitor. However, when I can from my PC to the Studio Display it does not not produce a picture. The display is identified by the PC but remains black with the occasional flicker. Bought the cable and my monitor just flickers :(
Same issue here. Got the cable today but isn’t working..
@@nsurlsession886 so I got the monitor to work … I had to plug into a second monitor. Then I went to the gpu settings and changed the settings of the apple monitor display to 4k. It worked. But then I changed it to 5k and started getting problems lol. Now my pc shuts off after a few minutes. So now I gotta figure that out.
If you have an Apple LG Thunderbolt Display this will NOT work FYI.
Oh no serious gamers in shambles
It shouldn't be that hard, but PCs are lagging behind Apple heavily, so that happens. PC's still don't have BT as standard, which is ridiculous, and that's why they are dying.
60hz in 2024... they should get out of the computers all together. I played with that monitor at the apple store, I almost got dizzy looking at the mouse dragging around the screen
Hi Josh just watched your vid and I just picked up a Mac monitor leave a email or # to chat about how can I get it set up
