Geraniums come in a wide variety of different colors and will give you height. Wave Petunias will trail down. Gorgeous contrast and very hardy. Geraniums can be wintered over and planted again in spring. They will give you years of beautiful color. Loved this video. Can’t wait to see the shutters come together.
You’re right, it does make your shed special! I like your choice of flowers, I like anything purple. I have stainless steel planters in front of my house and I put purple lavender!
Adding some stepping stones to the front going to the door would be precious. I’ve seen some really cute DIY ones that kids do with their hand print, name and date. Can’t wait til you do some front flower beds. Flowers on the outside are like curtains on the inside. Love your accomplishment. The shed is amazing. I love to plant a small tree, then do flowers around them making the flower bed. It looks good to one side and then shape the front bed from there. Butterfly bush or salvia are prolific bloomers, they add color all summer, and attract pollinators. They would look good to ground the flower beds, especially with the gray and white shed. Good luck. Keep us posted. Be safe and God bless. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Impatiens for my shady 8 foot 92 year old window box! I have serious tool envy. I would like to make these for my 3 garage windows to replace my plastic ones!
Love it. Hubby and I put out flowers out on our front porch last year all died due to the heat. It's either too hot or wet here in Southwest Tennessee. I love all kinds of flowers. Roses and sunflowers are my absolute favorite. Thank you for your beautiful DIY's. Have a great day and week. Continue to stay safe and healthy.
I don't have a green thumb either, but I keep trying. I am planting wildflowers from seed in my flower pots and hopefully I will have some beautiful flowers this summer. I love your She Shed, I have been watching the progress and it looks great!
I have begonias in the shade (didn't put out impatiens this year) and will plant periwinkles when it gets hotter. I have several knockout roses currently blooming and bulbs are coming up... beautiful planterbox I had once had them on my front porch but hang ferns above the railings now. thanks for sharing.
Shannon the flower box and shutters brings the outside of the she shed a adorable cottage look. I can envision a deck across the front with Adirondack chairs. My favorite flower are pansies, especially purple ones with with yellow faces. I have many perineal flowers I love as well. Have a wonderful Wednesday. 👍
Great tutorial, you explained the steps really well. My only suggestion is getting some soft surfaces in the space you do your voice over recording in. That will cut down on the echo.
I love growing double knock out roses, Yellow canas and pink and purple/blue hydrangeas. ( But they are difficult to keep alive for the ph in the soil. And the temps in the environment.
Looks fab !! Pansy and viola’s are really easy to keep going and they re seed themselves if you leave the seed heads on. A bonus is you can add the flowers to salads etc !
❤ I love both because the perennials are a staple and the annuals can be changed every year for an entire different look. My absolute fav flowers are tulips but I don't grow them anymore because either the animals eat them or something's wrong with my soil, so I stay away from bulbs.
@@TheDailyDIYer They make me happy too :) OhI forgot, my other favs are Portalucas (succulent). I hope I spelled that right. They're the best for handling the amount of sun and heat in the front of my house during the summer. The rabbits bite off the stem but then don't eat it so now I only plant in containers or hanging baskets with the hanging variety. Pretty and vibrant and come in different colors.
Shannon the violas look so pretty! If you find that they get too much sun in the summer and die on you, try replacing them with succulents, as they can can tolerate the heat quite well. Also you can get a nice variety of them in different colors too! The flower box is a great addition!💐
LOVE the flower box - it adds a lovely touch to your she shed. BTW, cedar is not a hardwood but it is rot resistant, making it a perfect wood for a flower box. Two of my favorite flowers are the geranium because they were my mother's favorite and verbena which was her mother's favorite! I look forward to more ideas from you!
What a wonderful change the planter made. I should do this to my shed. Did you know your wood pieces will last longer outside if you paint it all, including the cut ends, before you put it together? Also oil based paint lasts longer outside. Also adding drainage holes will help your flowers from getting over saturated during storms.
I really love this your shutters & the flower box looks perfect.. You're right it did add a lot to the front of the shed. My favorite flowers to grow are Dahlias & George Washington geraniums. Of course no green thumb here either. Thank you again for your time & many talents.
Love the flower boxes, but not sure the hubby will let me screw anything in the siding. My favorite flowers are waxed begonias, they come in red or pink. They are very hardy because I tend to neglect them sometimes. I also like wave Petunia's.
Looks great, Shannon! My favourites are Agapanthus for the garden, but a mixture of geraniums, fuschia, diascia and petunias always look great in pots and baskets. If only our garden centres were open 😢. Kind regards to you and the family from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
Love you window treatments.!!!👍 I'd add a traveling vine to the window box it would look so CUTE. When grown in it would spill over making for a fuller effect. TFS Hugs D
Funny, I never heard them called violas before (I grew up calling them pansies but I looked them up and they go by both names, lol). We need new planter boxes this year so your timing is perfect, although we can’t really plant anything until Memorial weekend around here (lucky you....I’m jealous for sure!). Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you’re all staying healthy Shannon and that coronavirus doesn’t mess up your wedding plans. 🤗 #kindnessmatters
This is cute! Love the idea! Now for all this covid 19 stuff to be over so can actually get supplies to build things! In my state they won’t let store sell non essential stuff ( which they view as food and toilet paper and such! No crafts supplies, clothing, electronics ect
Thank you for this video! The flower box looks terrific! Can't wait for the video to make shutters. We have odd sized front windows and I've been wanting to make some for awhile now!
I love the flower box. Gives the She Shed so much character!! And, love the shutters! Wish you were close. I would hire you to make me some flower boxes. My hubby isnt handy at all...lol.
I love how the over hang makes the front look like you used a dresser drawer. I do have a question though. You used spackling to fill the nail holes. I noticed sometimes you use spackling and sometimes wood filler. Is there a reason behind why or you just grab one? Thank you
I love pansies, Gerber daisies, and marigolds. I do have a question. Since I live in an apartment complex, is there a good way to use your box, but instead of attaching to siding, use some kind of hangers to drop over railing? I would use several boxes to plant flowers and herbs.
@thedailydiyer hello shannon and brian thank you for sharing such great idea just love it so much, Shannon I want to ask but really did not even dare because I do not want to sound noisy but just curious being that my husband and I are thinking really hard on if we are going to build a she shed as well just not sure on when because he works so much but the good part is that he works in a window company which has been such a blessing and has totally changed our life because when he was at ups it was just not working being that we moved but I did want to ask sorry for getting off track was about how much did you guys need to invest in material for the she shed not including the inside decor just the outter building portion so that we can have an idea on how much we would be needing to look into ourselves. Thank you Shannon.
L😍VE your flower boxes, shutters, and the entire SheShed.....or,.....Creativity Cottage 💕💜!!! We grow mostly flowering perennials....adding some annuals (mainly, GERANIUMS in pots and in 2 old metal wagons) for a variety in height and bright seasonal colors. For me, perennials feel like a wise investment, because with moderate to nearly no work, they return each Spring 🏆💰👍. Plus, they can be divided to fill in other areas of your yard, and to share. Lucky us, my little Sis & Mom taught alot about ornamentals, and shared some of their plants. May I suggest the EASY PEASY PLANTINGS that we've placed in our yard over the last 29 years---> SEDUM...HOSTAS...DAFFODILS...TULIPS...DAYLILLIES...DAHLIAHS...PEONIES...FERNS...and plenty of HERBS. Our containers and areas with LAVENDER...OREGANO...CHIVES...SEDUM...HOSTAS...& TULIPS ---> all have blooms in varying shades of PURPLE and WHITE.....my favorites 💜👍.
Love love love and have always wanted flower boxes BUT.... hubby does NOT me to drill into the house (stucco house) do you have any ideas how I can adhere this to my house ???? BEAUTIFUL
Oh yes, I understand that!! There are new rubber type adhesives that may work instead?? We used super glue mounting tape for the shutters and it worked perfectly!! May work for small flower boxes too?
Did you make the thyme box too? Personally I love pansies, geraniums and marigolds for annual flowers. Perennials are my favorites cause there’s just so many to choose from!
This might be late but there are screws meant for bricks/concrete. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and ask them and tell them what you need it for. I'm sure they'll help you. Good luck!
Came out nice. My favorite color choice. Purple!😍💜💜💜👍

So cute. She will be a joy to work in.
Wonderful job.

The flower box added to the beauty of your She Shed. I love petunias of all color
So easy to make. Love I like colorful plants with geraniums
Loving your flower boxes just wright for a pop of color. Take care

I love the flower box.
You know my favorite flowers are wild flowers!
Great window box and beautiful, happy pansies💮
I don't have a green thumb either, but I keep trying. I am planting wildflowers from seed in my flower pots and hopefully I will have some beautiful flowers this summer. I love your She Shed, I have been watching the progress and it looks great!
Hi Shannon great job so pretty 👍 TFS Happy Wednesday to you. Stay safe and God bless
Really like the flower box and the shutters. They add so much to the look. I like pansies, impatiens (sp), and marigolds are very sturdy.
What a simple quick way to make a huge transformation!
Very pretty. Great job. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice. Love to watch you build things. Shed looks great.
Cute cute cute! Love this, adorable! My favorites flowers are ... yes! I love them all!
Thank you!
Wow! It popped up very well as if there is no longer plain without mascara by the window, I love it!
Looks so nice and pretty.
love it💟peonies, hydrangeas, orchids, sunflower, and Daisys.💐🌻💚
Wow, beautiful flowers, great idea. The She Shed look fabulous
I have begonias in the shade (didn't put out impatiens this year) and will plant periwinkles when it gets hotter. Perennials not perineal stupid auto correct 🤣
We hope to add a porch soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 I love Pansies too ❤️
I've been wanting to make planter boxes. Its a lot easier than i thought. Thanks for this diy.
Great job! Zinnias are my new favorite to grow!
💖💖💖
The she shed is looking awesome. My favorite flowers are Iris and Gladiolus. Morning glories run a close second.
Great tutorial, you explained the steps really well. My only suggestion is getting some soft surfaces in the space you do your voice over recording in. That will cut down on the echo.
Very cute Shannon!!
I love them all!

Oh that’s a shame. I want to plant tons of tulips for next year. We have a few and they make me so happy in the spring!!

Gerber Daisy’s. Love all their colors and full green leaves. Thanks for the tutorial. I will be making some for the front of our house.
I love the shutters and planter. You did such a great job building them. I love Gerber Daisies in all colors.
I love your flower box it makes the shed looks more beautiful!
Just when I thought it was perfect...you keep making it better...😍😍🤗🤗
I love the purple flowers against the white and gray of the She Shed!! Amazing how something so simple can make such an impact!
XOXO

Excellent DIY and it looks fresh outside just in time for spring flowers
Love your she shed and the flower box too!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!
What a wonderful change the planter made. I should do this to my shed.

Love your she shed and love the shutters and flower box. Thank you for sharing♡
Shannan this flower 🌺 box is a home run!! It looks absolutely beautiful under the window!! I also love the shutters!!
Just beautiful. I’ve been looking for a window box tutorial thanks so much. You inspire me.
Love the flower boxes, but not sure the hubby will let me screw anything in the siding. My favorite flowers are waxed begonias, they come in red or pink. They are very hardy because I tend to neglect them sometimes. I also like wave Petunia's.
Great little project!! Love your purple pansies, I also like to add a trailing plant like an ivy or a flowering trailer, just to give it a fuller look
Yes,yes, this is just what it needed..... Sheshed Homerun!!!
Beautiful pop of color 💗
Looks great, Shannon! My favourites are Agapanthus for the garden, but a mixture of geraniums, fuschia, diascia and petunias always look great in pots and baskets. If only our garden centres were open 😢. Kind regards to you and the family from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕
Beautiful!
That came out so pretty. Great job. It makes such a nice impact.
Maybe add some drain holes at the bottom! That will help keep the plants from over watering
My favorite flowers to grow are zinnias 😊

Shannon❤️ a wood project!! ❤️❤️❤️ I love this and every thing you do !

I love your she shed! Great job on the window box💜
Thank you for this video! The flower box looks terrific! Can't wait for the video to make shutters. We have odd sized front windows and I've been wanting to make some for awhile now!

Aw welcome 🥰🥰🥰
I love it! Great job!
I love the flower box. Gives the She Shed so much character!! And, love the shutters! Wish you were close. I would hire you to make me some flower boxes. My hubby isnt handy at all...lol.
Beautiful! 🐝
A she shed, I'm so jealous!!
I love it ❤️ I like to grow impatients & snapdragons ❤️😊
Very nice.
Love it! Very interested in the shutter tutorial! Easter blessings to you all! ☺️💕
I love how the over hang makes the front look like you used a dresser drawer. I do have a question though. You used spackling to fill the nail holes. I noticed sometimes you use spackling and sometimes wood filler. Is there a reason behind why or you just grab one? Thank you
Thank you : )
Box looks wonderful! You will need a few drain holes in the bottom or the box will rot out quite quickly.
She added those.
That’s part of the tutorial 👌🏻
I love pansies, Gerber daisies, and marigolds. I do have a question. Since I live in an apartment complex, is there a good way to use your box, but instead of attaching to siding, use some kind of hangers to drop over railing? I would use several boxes to plant flowers and herbs.
I think you need a front porch on your amazing She Shed!!!
Looks pretty, but did you add pebbles/rocks for drainage?
Beautiful, thanks
Did you use those same construction screws to attach your herb boxes? I want to make those as well.
I like zinnas, because the are easy and tolerate the sun.

looks nice but I would use Azek or something like that...regular wood just does not hold up very well after a few years.
3 years later and it’s still like new. Haven’t even had to paint it.
Looks GREAT !! I really like pansies and petunias - the purple ones are gorgeous. TFS Stay Safe and God Bless.
Love it
Have made a video on the shutters yet?
Love love love and have always wanted flower boxes BUT.... hubby does NOT me to drill into the house (stucco house) do you have any ideas how I can adhere this to my house ???? BEAUTIFUL
Oh yes, I understand that!! There are new rubber type adhesives that may work instead?? We used super glue mounting tape for the shutters and it worked perfectly!! May work for small flower boxes too?
The Daily DIYer I think my biggest problem will be the stucco ... 🥴
Did you make the thyme box too? Personally I love pansies, geraniums and marigolds for annual flowers. Perennials are my favorites cause there’s just so many to choose from!
I did! There is a tutorial for those herb boxes ❤️
Looks espectacular.
What kind of siding do you have?
I have a question sweetie.. I REALLY wanna make this but how do I attach to brick? Help.
This might be late but there are screws meant for bricks/concrete. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and ask them and tell them what you need it for. I'm sure they'll help you. Good luck!
I don't have a green thumb so I need something that is easy to grow.
I love your diys.
Shannan the flower box is lovely but the only problem was I couldn’t hear you cause the music was a lil loud and drowned out your voice.
Geraniums
