This is absolutely outstanding. I don't care that there's no band backing him. Even as an old man with health issues he has a stunning ability to tell a story, pull a crowd of strangers into his world, get people to sing along. I was most surprised when he stopped strumming at one point during a song and just sang for a moment a cappella. His voice is still amazing. He's a very gifted artist. I imagine this is what it would be like to have DAC come over for dinner and perform an impromptu set in your living room. Thanks for sharing this.

He spent his entire teen years and earlty life in prison....in the 70's.....yeah I think he gets a little slack. Also, one of his DVD concerts (Billy Bob's or something) he has a black drummer. Really doubt he would have a BLACK drummer if he was such a racist piece of shit. Dude....there are LOTS of dimensions to everything - seeing his history lucky he isn't really racist.

His voice is just as good as ever... I literally got chills when he sang the ride, i always do and i dont know why, it always happens when he says, "you dont have to call me Mr. Mr. the whole world called me Hank" probably one of my favorites by him

By far one of the best songwriters in the entire world! DAC is a true musician! I recently saw him in Baton Rouge and I consider it a high point in my life.

DAC is the REAL deal. One of the greatest song writers of modern times, and that's not just country music. There is nothing on the horizon today like him except maybe Hank 3.
In the Ft. Worth Stockyards at Willie's picnic in '05 was my first major exposure to Coe. 10 years earlier, He did a performance very similar to this (if my memory serves me well).
I think Coe still sounds great.

it's weird, he comes to my town about once a year, each year he has a different band behind him, sometimes it's really good live, and sometimes it's pretty questionable. he needs a full time guitarist behind him.
Wish hed hire me id do it and make sure he the band is right as well.

I was here and I was in heaven, getting to see my childhood hero! Long live DAC
My band and I played with him twice last year. As you can imagine, we were excited to learn we were playing with the legend. The first time he had a decent band but his singing and guitar skills were lacking and left the crowd underwhelmed. That was in March. In November we played with him again and the week of, his band all quit on him so it was just him playing that out of tune guitar and his wife banging away on that tambourine. I'm sure he did the best he can do but it was still pretty rough.
Ok keep your bad thoughts of DAC to yourself because when I opened for him back in the 80's he was on top of the world. Besides how many no 1 hits have you written. Hes wrote songs for Johnny Paycheck ( Take this job and shove it) he wrote for Tanya Tucker ( would you lay with me in a field of stone) . and the list goes on he was friends with Johnny Cash. Need I go on??
@@richardpierce7819 I just went back and reread my comment. I don't see where I ever attacked his songwriting for the fact that he wrote some great songs 30 or 40 years ago. I don't think these are bad thoughts as you called them. These are facts. I still respect what he has done in the past but there's no denying that twice, I saw several hundred casual fans who expected to show up and hear him sing his hits leave disappointed and not pleased. He played Out Of Tune, talked his way through songs and name-dropped for 45 minutes. I'm guessing I did my job a lot better 30 years ago also.

I think he's just being lazy and riding on his fame. He could put more effort into his singing and strumming even if he is 75. He could show up, crack a fart and fall asleep and some people would be glad to see that!

County Ohio. I worked as an audio engineer at the Wheeling WV Jamboree USA first as a grunt, then the lighting operator , then the audio monitor engineer. David played there many times. I can say one thing as a pretty decent guitarist myself and an engineer that this guy is not the best musician in the world but he damn sure wrote a helluva good country song and he wrote many. Nobody can take that away from him. He earned it the hard way. I grew up the same way. Hard knox and learning. I was only locked up once though for 2 months and learned I didn't want to go back. show business saved my life.

I was born in 56 and DAC got out of the Ohio Penn in 1967. Been a fan for a very long time. I live not far from Akron Oh. His Daddy worked at Goodyear. Look it up. Hell here is a good place to start below.
@@Hamigal He lived in Akron for awhile but he lived around here for a long time. I'm 40 minutes from Parkersburgh, Woodsfield and Barnsville is right next to Woodsfield. I don't know much about David Allen Coe, all I know is that he wrote dirty songs but watching this guy perform at the age of 75 is like a revelation. I dont think I have ever seen a more naturally gifted singer, songwriter, performer. He is absolutely effortless in his ability to hold the attention of an audience and entertain. It's a remarkable thing to see.
