As someone whose only exposure to Legacy is through this channel, looking forward to seeing this creature in action after hearing you reference it a few times in previous videos.
The sultai beans match reinforced what I’ve gathered from playing the deck, wasteland is just such a beating in the fair blue control mirrors. Like on paper the deck going a little bit bigger with Uros and kaths feels like it should be favored but wastelanding you off Colors is so real. Makes me think these 4+ color decks need to be playing some number of loams.
Ashiok game ender seems insane against these beans decks. Sultai beans has half their win cons require the graveyard, over 5 turns you can mill 20 and shutting down fetches is nice
Feel like Solitude is likely needed with Saint Katherine so you have a backup plan other than brainstorm for if it gets stuck in hand. Interested to see how it this evolves on MTGO.
I think Solitude with Triumph with Beans cutting down on colors would likely help. gives you another '5 drop' that you can pitch cast you stuck in hand triumphs another bean trigger card etc.
this week is gonna be like when travis scott plays fein 27 times in a row except its beans and im SMOKING ON THAT BEAN PACK YESSS FINALLY ITS A MIRACLE ITS A BEAN ITS AN INSTANT BOSH PACKERS CLASSIC SMOKE EM IF YOU GOT EM
Triumph feels like a card that needs to come down on turn 3, or she’s not gonna do enough. Maybe in a RW Stompy/Stax shell she’d perform better? That way you have Ancient Tomb and City to power her out early if you miss on the Miracle, and some stax pieces to keep your opponent off of killing her so easily. She’s obviously great if you can cast her on your opponent’s turn, but I’m just not sure she’s good enough in a Beanstalk shell. Especially if she’s stretching you to 5 color.
@ 1:15:40 dark rit tendrils would still kill if opponent had the mana to cast the ritual, because they could put the storm trigger on top of the song of creation one and just light em up
Great league! Appreciate the content! Surprising to see such a focus on Uro when the BUG beans versions don’t tend to run more than one copy, if at all. I feel like Katherine and Uro don’t necessarily belong in the same deck, since Kat wants you to emphasize mana efficiency and tempo while Uro pushes you to be as big and greedy as possible. Kat allows you to play fewer lands as it’s ideally a 2 mana win con, but Uro requires and incentivizes playing more lands in comparison. It’s an interesting push-and-pull from a deckbuilding perspective. Murktide or even Snapcaster might be a more appropriate buddy for Katherine.
I wonder if some number of solitudes could be a consideration for this deck. Probably not enough white cards to pitch, but it's so good with beans, and it's a way to use those awkward triumphs you draw at the wrong time
Inject Brian playing blue control decks right into my veeeeins PS: Well that BG Reanimator deck was an insane killing machine wow. Guess Faithless Looting really just ain't good enough for legacy anymore
Love this and your Sultai Beans deck! What do you think about adding 1-2 surveil lands to either deck? I've played around with it, but not enough to feel confident one way or the other.
Just played one Katherine in Stoneblade deck and it certainly showed that it's very matchup dependent card. You never want to see it against any white (control) deck. Even at best you are using 2 mana in your draw step to get Plowed, but more often you need to use Brainstorm to also set it up. But when I got it against Delver or even better, Rhinoes, it just dominated as cheap 5/5 lifelink. Likely also good against Scammish decks and obviously Burn if you ever face such. Not sure about Goblins. Maybe one main and two in side is sensible in some meta, while in others it should just be dropped.
Those Rite of Flames sure look like they meant to sacrifice the LED's with the draw on the stack. Sweet win, either way. timestamp ruclips.net/video/xB7K_tRk0G8/видео.html
R2G2 throwing away blue blast instead of something else seemed like a mistake. You had island cycler to get basic island and could've used blue blast to destroy their magus and unlock your mana.
I think uro is asking too much of the manabase. I like murk in that slot. That way you are blue white at heart with black splash for bow and green splash for bean.
I know this isn't a commander channel, but have you been looking at the new fallout commander cards? There is one card that I should be curious to know your opinion on: Overencumbered. Not as a commander card, but potentially as a sideboard card in legacy or vintage.
@@BoshNRoll I wish they would clarify which products will come to MTGO and which will not, as one of the first things announced. Not as an after thought.
They play Faithless Looting and Griselbrand. You have to win the game somehow. Every creature they play generates value when it enters the battlefield. If you’re cutting the threats you can deploy in their end step in favor of playing a long game where you get 7 for 1ed every time you Plow a creature, best of luck to you.
@@BoshNRollthey don't play Faithless Looting. There was no red mana in games 1 or 2 (positively none, double Mortuary was fetched) Bowmaster doesn't work against Atraxa, doesn't work against Archon, doesn't work against Grief, or Witch, or Troll, *and* doesn't work against what it "works" against (the *singleton* Griselbrand) when it's coming off the top of the deck like you needed several times. I gotta think you side boarded on autopilot versus a phantom Grixis reanimator / Show deck that had the Lootings & 3 more Griselbrand & iunno, Brainstorms? instead of what was there. Versus the actual opponent, all you had to do was overload their very shallow stack of threats via the top of your library. It was not a tempo game, they didn't have retries to draw to. With their 10 discards, 10 reanimates, 8 tutors, petals rituals & the witch sideline, there plain wasn't room for redundant fatties.
Imho that list is too timid. It tries to cover everything having no plan but "draw with beanstalk" without being willing to play for on-board advantage. Throw at least Red out, replace the Uro (Who needs such a slow engine if you can gain life with Triumph and draw with Murktide+Triumph and beanstalk?) with Murktides and club them to death with 2 mana cantripping monsters while disprupting them with Forces, Swords and Bowmasters. I dont see any advantage in playing a 2 mana 5/5 lifelink if it isnt on the board to dominate the midgame. As a finisher there are better options. - Also i think its perfectly reasonable to sideboard the Triumph out as soon as the matchup isnt a combat phased based. It carries you through matchups like Goblin, Grixis-Control, Initiative, DnT etc. and has to go to the sideline in matches like Reanimator when Leovold and Oppo Agents come in.
Every time i read Katherine i feel like i'm having a stroke. It's a 5 mana 5/5 with lifelink that can be miracled out for 2 mana, that i get. But what the hell does that death trigger do???
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Thaaaaaat's what it does. I somehow kept missing that it shuffles itself back in with the 6 cards it exiles off the top, I thought it exiled itself and shuffled the top 6 cards of your deck blindly XDDD
In game 3 of match one, did you have surgical in the graveyard? You could have put that back on top of your deck with mystic sanctuary instead of pounder so you’d have been able to strip the boseiju from there hand and protect the binding. Or did I miss something?
32:43 I don't understand... presuming Triumph is one the best things you can be doing, why not end step brainstorm so you can miracle the following turn? I know you've said before you don't like end step brainstorms (which also doesn't make sense to me), but would it not be worth it compared to waiting an extra turn, taking more damage, then tapping out?
It's extremely well positioned against a lot of the top decks as a 1-mana blue card. Not only can it default to shutting down fetchlands, but it can also: 1. Shut down Goblin payoffs (Either Muxus, Ringleader, Namesticker, etc.) 2. Hit Atraxa/Grief/Griselbrand triggers (As well as Animate dead). 3. Shut down Thassa Oracle 4. Shut down Storm combos 5. Shut down Cascade (Rhinos) Just the prospect of having it in your deck can completely alter the way an opponent interacts with you.
When you popped deed against leo, you had 4 mana. You popped on 3 then pondered. This plays into both daze and orc. If you ponder first, it plays into neither. Am i missing an interaction there?
Because we’re a big clunky control deck that can’t afford a 2-for-1. They’re a tempo deck that is usually playing from ahead and can use cards like force to stay ahead.

I think beans leads to unhealthy gameplay, do you agree? Whenever I see a matchup where both decks play beans almost every time the deck that draws/sticks into play more beans wins.
All decks are built around engines. Beans demands weird deckbuilding to cash it out. Is it more toxic than who has the most planeswalkers? Who has the better lock pieces? I think it’s an appropriate Legacy card.
