To be honest, I think drawing with simple lines, yet getting the structure as perfect as you did takes huge amounts of practice of the basic elements. To an outsider, drawing croquis like you demostrated might be the easiest thing in the world. But to people who actually get their hands dirty, simplicity comes from great amounts of practice of the most basic elements. As you've said in the video, drawing with a comfortable mind is important, but what is also equally important is the structures which simplicity is built on :)
True the video title misleading, we all start as drawing amateurs. And drawing amateurly is built from REFERENCES. I think that form of minimalist sketching structure of human poses or portraits is pleasing but for all we know BASICS took them many references for them to be just THAT GOOD.
Wise words! Being good at art doesnt come with just practice, you also need to enjoy what you are doing, have to enjoy the process. It's not just about studying, it's also about your mindset.
@@Chommang same for me! Once i realized how fun it actually is and how much stress it puts off of me, I really started to get into it and suddenly improved. I'm not perfect whatsoever, but I'm working on it and I believe in myself, that I'm gonna be able to draw really well one day :)
Thank you for the video and welcome back. I realized that all this time, I only draw just for the sake of others, and not for me. People asking me to draw this and that made my interest fade away bit by bit. Again, thank you for the helpful advice. I'll try to remember this as long as I can. Stay safe!
Welcome back! It's been awhile. Just wanted to thank you for all of the advice you've given since I've found your channel. Your inspiration helped me not to quit drawing and appreciate doing croquis.
_It feel so nice to be able to watch your video. I learn to be more humble as the time pass by thanks to your precious saying. Getting back to drawing after a long break is always like a reset. Drawing with a clear mind is always so Much better. Also drawing without references has somehow a mind blowing effect to me because it offer to us the way we see what surround us. In that way correct how behaviour and get to see thing differently. Keep going your video are wonderful as always_

Just when I was admiring Kim Jung Gi's and Katsuya Terada's work, wondering if I could ever become like them, You posted this!!! I think we have a lot in common regarding our ambition and thoughts on drawing, and that's why i always look up to You!!!
Wth did I just watch.. I just wanted to learn from the best, everything u said pierced through my heart. I love this, I love your channel! You take all art frustrations away!💞💞💞
You are so great you gain my confidence in my drawing I suddenly stop drawing and then I don't able to draw after few weeks I don't know what to do and than your video appear I watch you second last video and I suddenly gain confidence I never forget you in my life sir I proud of you so much you teach me and every one very well sir I am so thankful thank you so much 😄😄😄 I don't have money otherwise I pay your student fees and gain my skills with you but I am fine because your videos are also soo helpful thank you sir once again 😄😄
In order to draw w/o reference you must possess a muscle memory of mastering the technicality.. So u need tons of reference until you get master the anatomy
I usually draw without reference, but it's hard. I also draw lines so hard, no as natural and free as you usually draw them. I'm inspired the way how you draw. I remember I started drawing 6 years ago. I only used references. But one day I tried to improve and started drawing objects and people I imagined. It was really hard at the start. I had to learn how the human skeleton and muscles were. Now I can draw without reference, but I've lost that freedom I want to recover.
Since the fist time whenever I see your videos I wish I knew korean that way I didn't need to continuously stare at english subtile , still ❤ your content
I’m finding your videos most interesting and helpful, thanks. But, did I understand you correctly when you talked about imagining? Was it that you can’t or that you weren’t? I personally can’t, I suffer from aphantasia. I can’t “see” in my mind. I know what things look like, but when I close my eyes there’s nothing there. Thanks again.

I stopped drawing because of that reasoning. Breaking free of the stereotype society. That's nice. Inspired by this video again. 💙
Good idea, I learned something, its better to sketch first to help you imagine deeply what you wanted to draw.
